Asus ROG Swift PG278Q monitor, 1440p/144hz/G-Sync

Was just able to order one off of Amazon! Delivery estimate is September 3rd. It keeps going in and out of stock constantly there. If you are looking to get one from them, use an auto refresh plugin in your web browser and keep refreshing the page until you see the "add to cart" button show up. Once you see it, click that as soon as you can. Took me a few tries, but I was finally able to catch it before it sold out.

Yeah, showing 16 in stock right now. Selling fast though, so you'll probably have to keep trying throughout the day if you miss it. :/

SUCCESS! Finally snagged one for estimated 9/3 delivery. Excited to see if it lives up to the hype and will report out when I get it set-up next week.

I just recently built a new 780ti based gaming rig and have not had a new monitor in at least 5 years, so this is something that will make a lot of sense for me.

Got it pre-ordered at B&H, backordered at Newegg, and now refreshing Amazon every 15 seconds using the Chrome script.

I don't think I've ever had such a hard time trying to give $800+ dollars to someone. lol

It's sold out everywhere where I live, except for one online retailer. It's like a two week wait for every store but that one, I don't know how they're keeping up with that kind of demand.

OMG, just managed to snag one off Amazon using the auto refresh script!

Delivery estimate is Tuesday, September 2.

Time to cancel the B&H and Newegg order.

When can we expect better availability with these g-sync monitors in general?

Planning for my future build and the monitor is the first piece.

Okay, so I don't think I'm going to shell out the 800 for this monitor, but I still need to get something, so I'm trying to decide on what to go with. I have it down to the following two:

Should I go with this, which I can get currently for $135

or, should I dish out some more in order to get this?

My graphics card is a GTX 780

Or is there a better quality/more efficient moniter in the price ranges I'm going for?

What state do you live in? 2 day shipping to the midwest has a predicted arrival of Wednesday...

I'm in Illinois right now. Ordered yesterday around 6 PM CST with One Day Shipping. It's shipping via FedEx and is currently sitting in Carlisle, PA.

Damn it, I didn't choose 1 day shipping because I figured I'd recieve it on Tuesday instead of Wednesday, which would be meaningless to me. I can't change the shipping speed now either for whatever reason, even though my order doesn't say it's being processed or anything.

Oh well.

Just got my shipping notification from Amazon. Headed of PA and should be in CA on Tuesday.

Gonna be a long weekend waiting :)

For those who expecting the monitor...remember to set OD aka OverDrive at normal and not the extreme setting. From TFT review

The response time performance of the PG278Q is excellent, and even a little faster than the other gaming TN Film screens we have tested here. With an average 2.9ms G2G response time in the 'normal' OD mode, it is slightly faster than the Asus VG278HE (4.1ms) and BenQ XL2720Z (3.8ms) which was very impressive. There was some moderate overshoot detected in this mode, mostly pretty minor, and nothing that should be too distracting in game play. These TN Film panels are clearly much faster than competing technologies, which is the reason why TN Film continues to be used for high end gaming screens.

Well, I have to say after waiting months for this monitor to arrive, I'm definitely not disappointed. This is a very nice display with features that I think will now be essential in a monitor for me. I'm getting hit by the double whammy of pixel density and image stability / consistency. This is after using a 1680x1050 120Hz display exclusively for the last 4 years.

G-Sync mode is a complete revelation with some games, while ULMB mode at 120Hz/120fps is eye-wateringly lovely.
I do seem to be hitting a G-Sync bug that others online have reported; every once in a while in G-Sync mode, the display seems to lose signal. ASUS state it's a G-Sync problem and that NVIDIA are fixing it with a driver update. Re-attaching the DisplayPort cable seems to work-around it for now.

I'm excited to see peoples' reactions to g-sync now that it is more widely available. Playing Metro Redux with it recently just reminded me how great of a step up it is.

Any ideas what Fry's tracker means by 'Includes open-box' on a brand new item -- returns they are reselling (as they tend to do, with questionable legality), display model, etc?

Can't believe I missed the amazon stock.. You guys are lucky.

Have a really annoying issue. Anyone else experiencing it?

Basically can't get my games to work with GSync. Tried a fresh Nvidia driver install and the only game I have gotten to work is Watch Dogs. Every time I try to start another game(tried Theif, AC4, and Child of Light so far), the monitor goes out of range or loses signal completely. This leads me to do a hard reset of the whole PC to get access to my desktop again. When I boot up, Windows tells me there was a bluescreen.

ASUS says it will be fixed in a future Nvidia driver, but if it's a driver issue, how are so many people playing perfectly right now?

Out of curiosity, do you have an Oculus Rift?

Yes, DK2. But it's not hooked up right now.

Someone earlier in the thread was experiencing the exact same issue; they fixed it by uninstalling their Rift drivers.

Worth a shot?

Ok well, I figured out what was wrong. The culprit was the oculus rift driver. If I want it to work correctly, I have to uninstall the oculus runtime and its associated drivers.

It means from now on I will have to reinstall/uninstall the oculus runtime each time I want to use my oculus rift until either nvidia or oculus fix the issue.

.

Yep, thanks for the help. Uninstalling Oculus drivers fixed the problem.

That's kind of BS though.

Almost like God saying , "You can only have ONE amazing display technology at this time, not both. Don't be greedy." lol

I finally got this setup and the clarity is amazing, I've never experienced anything like this before. Main issue has been running into games that require tweaks to support 1440p/60+fps, but the vast majority have been reliable.

After trying out Gsync in a bunch of my favorite games, I don't know how I ever lived without it. Everything is just so damn SMOOTH. Playing Metro Redux on max settings with this monitor is a religious experience.

I'm curious to hear some impressions of the color vs a QNIX QX2710 or other similar IPS/PLS panels.

I'm really torn between these two. The Gsync and 144hz though... sounds so glorious.

Also just a question in general, how jarring is it going from 90-120fps to 60fps on a 144hz monitor? Is it jarring at all?

From my own experience in most games I can't see a difference at 60+ fps. If I was playing Quake 3 I would definitely see/feel it, but with most games it's not necessary.

I usually lock the framerate at 75 fps with nvidia inspector.
