PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

I thought people are being dramatic saying that a 16GB card isn't enough for the Vita.

Well it turns out they are right, especially with plus.

I still remember my PSP with the supposedly massive 16gb card in it. I was not juggling my games from hell and back so when I got a Vita, choose to get a 16gb card too.

What a wrong decision that was. I now have an extremely full 16gb and almost 60gb free space on my computer.

Really hope the 64GB card would come overseas and hoping another price cut for the 32GB one.
I thought it would be enough as well. :/

Ended up deleting the MGS HD collection to download SSD. I also have a 4GB just for SAO.

Yeah, I actually hit my limit with my 32gb card. If you plan to go all digital, that adds up quite fast. I guess since your games are technically saved on your PSN account, you can rotate out games you aren't currently playing. But yeah.

One really helpful fact is that you can back up digital games to PC/Mac, so when you want to put them back on your vita you just have to wait for the time it takes to transfer via USB as opposed to the considerably longer time it takes to download the game fresh from PSN. And with PS+, your saves are in the cloud, so it cuts down the time to get a game back up and running on vita.

That said, I still love having as much of my digital library as possible on my device at any time, as I am very ADD with what I want to play at any time. For example, today I decided to play Velocity Ultra again (a game I hadn't played in over 3 months) to get ready for Velocity 2X but I was on call at the hospital not near my PC. Luckily, I still had it on my 64 GB card. This freedom to play a random game I haven't played in months is one of the reasons I love digital games on handhelds.

Also, PS+ doesn't help the memory woes, especially with the 2 games per month plus like 2-3 more each month via cross buy!

Wow I never knew that. Extremely helpful, thanks for letting me know! I've been doing it wrong.

Glad to be of help! You just need to download the Sony content manager assistant for PC or mac, then connect via USB (or WiFi, but it is very slow for games, though super useful for transferring screenshots), and use content manager on your Vita to transfer games to or from your computer. In my experience it almost always also transfers game saves, DLC and patches.

Alright guys, I really appreciate all the positive feedback. Because this went so well, I'm going to give away 2 more $10 cards right now (the raffle will be only for 3 hours). So if you are up, get on it! I've made it so no one that has already won can win again. You can only apply for ONE code (same as before). Modbot will discard any entry after that. You only have two options this time, so just pick one. These are still US only codes, but in the October giveaway I'll open it up to more regions. Thanks for your patience.

me want to join too :D

$7 more and you could pick it up from JB retail if that makes any difference to you.
Oh sweet, thanks for the heads up. I see EB has pre-owned copies in it's 3 for $45 sale too. Highly doubt my local will have a copy though :(

Neptune PP is NOT a good entry point to they series.

It is an "idol production" game. Note that they are NOT rhythm games. They may look similar, but they are NOT the same.

Get Re;birth, or Noir, or U.

Hmmm might hold off then. I'll try and grab Re;birth instead first once it hits it's first sale price and then grab PP down the track if I'm really into it.

64 GB is still not enough either.

I bought PP, and hated it. It was my first time getting into the series, and I regret it. I imagine, if you are a HUGE fan of the series, then it's a neat little game to mess around with these characters. But at least for me, I just found the game to be really shallow. Like the actual gameplay/options were lacking. As others have said, there is very limited options for the concert/diva sections. It's not a full fledged rhythm game like Project Diva F (it's more about getting your Diva's stats up through VN style dialogue and then building up the performance by altering costumes/stage set up and other things).

I can confirm that Rebirth is a great little game. I was surprised by how much I've been enjoying it. It's a pretty fleshed out RPG, with a lot of things to do. The combat system is a little simplistic, but it's a really fun game to pick up and play. I was hesitant to buy it because of PP, but I ended up really enjoying it. So yeah, definitely consider it. Just know that..Hyperdimension is all about the cute/ditsy girls (watch some trailers). If you aren't into Moe anime, then it might be a turn off for you. I'm not a particular fan of this sort of thing, but I actually found the characters to be funny and I really enjoyed how silly the world was.

I've been wondering about something for a while. How fast does PSN serve up game content? Or even Xbox Live for that matter?

Do we have any gigabit (or even few-hundred-megabit) gaffers that can download a game and report the speeds they're seeing?

I get about 27-28 megabits down, and the other night when I first set up my PS4 it saturated the connection. I know most people are probably getting similar speeds or worse, so maybe this test won't say much.

My school connection back in graduate school was 200 Mbps up and down, and my vita and PS3 would never pass around 30 Mbps at max. At home, my connection is typically around 50 Mbps and my PS4 never came close to saturating this, even wired. Just my own experiences though, and from what I've seen PSN download speeds heavily depend on when you are downloading, in that Tuesday afternoon downloads will go at 1/5 the speed of a Sunday download.

I have 75MBit internet and the most I can pull off the PSN on a low traffic day is ~24MBit (~3MiB) per second.

I'm in for the raffle again :D!

Btw, I only have 8gb card on the Vita... Wasn't playing on buying one, but maybe I will do it anyway.

I spent 3 years with a 80gb PS3, so I know very well how to handle small hard drive with games. But in any case, maybe I will buy a 16gb card

Thank Azula. I also think I won't be participating in next month giveaway to give other people more chance.

One more day until the Vita despair? I'm ready.

I'm not even worried about TGS. I'm in to almost no Japanese games these days anyway and the only think I want out of it is Gravity Rush 2. That's something we probably will get. I wouldn't be surprised if it's also on PS4, but I still expect a Vita version.

after beating Xillia 2 you better I too am looking forward to Hearts. Random battles is good and not at the same time. After a while in Xillia 2, I saw myself evading more and more battles so I could just get to my location right away. Hopefully the encounter rate isn't too crazy.

Normally I don't evade battles in Tales games but in Xillia I did because there were just too many enemies in one area and it would have taken ages to take all monsters down. I had the feeling that the areas in prior Tales titles weren't as filled up with monsters and therefore didn't feel like such a drag even when fighting all monsters.

Whichever way it goes, it's going to get people worked up.
Vita exclusive: "I don't want to buy a Vita."
Multiplat: "Vita holding the PS4 version back, do not want."
PS4 exclusive: "Vita dead and buried, might as well sell it."
Kind of looking forward to the fireworks.

Last year's teaser trailer looked no better than the bullshot trailers Sony released for the first. If it's PS4 exclusive, I don't see Sony giving Toyama loads of money to redo everything to PS4's spec.

I wouldn't mind if it's PS4/Vita. I just don't trust Sony anymore to think Vita will get whatever this followup is.

Due to the debt system and all that I'm evading some battles during the normal progression. I'll go and fight dudes when I have some sidequests to do. I fight from time to time (especially linked battles) and look for stuff on the fields so I can finish item sidequests right after getting them. Easy money and all that.

Really liking the story so far.
I've just met Milla, his outfit is infinitely superior to the one in Xillia.
overall I prefer Xillia 2 outfits.

To pay off the debt I just did the special quests. I was so in love with the characters and story that I just wanted to rush through the battles to see more of it :P it was such a good game

playing Azure Gunvolt on my 3DSXL (I'm starting to like the 3D effects.. omg)
part of me wish the game was on the Vita...
or should I put it - part of me wish the new3DSXL is out.. with the Vita DPad and Buttons (and hopefully the improved screen and better 3D viewing angle actually makes GOOD POSITIVE difference)

is VitaGAF gonna stay up to watch the conference tmr?

Although very unlikely, I'd love to see a Persona 5 teaser. P4D is more likely to show up, and even that one might not even appear at all. I won't be able to stay up to watch it, but first thing in the morning I'll read and watch the announcements.
