Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

So I played this on both Wii U and 3DS at pax...

Super disappointed in the 3ds version. The controls just do not transfer over well at all, and the screen is too small for a smash game. No longer sure if it'll be day 1.

Wii U version is absolutely fantastic, though.

Surprised you felt that way. It played great for me.

Well to be fair, Falco might have a new Final Smash, we don't technically know yet :P

"Luigi, Kirby, Pit, ZSS, and Lucario have new Final Smashes. Toon Link, Sheik, Falco, Olimar and Donkey Kong are unchanged."

That sort of statement would have been laughed out of the room if brought up 4 years ago, and yet, here we are...

D1 talking about Marth on stream after messing with him further at PAX has me so excited to see more on the character. Brawl Marth was still pretty damn powerful and drawing parallels to that incarnation is totally a good thing IMO.

They added landing lag cancel?

And apparently you don't have to press a button to execute it?

So instead of completely removing mechanics that make the game more exciting, Sakurai instead made it more accessible?

That's bullshit but I'm going to believe it.

The screen is my biggest issue I'm
Fearing. Especially since I don't have a XL.
Will still end up buying though. But I know once I get the WiiU version going back is going to be hard.

And that is how he who sees it all chose to take away Lucas from us, oh we are not worthy of such magnificence.

And he sent his only begotten son, Snake, through a human named Hideo Kojima, to save SmashGAF from their sins, only to be persecuted in the end. He was buried along with his cardboard box, and we shall wait for his resurrection and return on the end of days, while riding a purple monster, called
Barney
.

I had no problems playing on an OG 3DS, it was awesome.

But I guess it may vary depending on who you are.

I suspect it has something to do with the game's designer specifically stating he does not consider, nor is he making a game ment for intensive competition.

Play it how you like, or join the Melee / Project M fellation in perpetuity, but Sakurai has made his intentions quite clear.

That's a fair point, but I don't align with his opinion of his own game. He might be the creator of the series and all, but I love competition and that's what makes me enjoy Smash/fighting games.

Do you think the creators of Soccer, Basketball, Football and Baseball invented the sports to be where they are now in terms of the crazy competitive nature of them?

Honestly, I think making a sweeping declaration of tourney players is significantly more obnoxious than any tourney player I've ever met. It's rude, it's dismissive, and quite frankly, casuals who completely dismiss people who play Smash in a different way by using homophobic slurs are more common than asshole tourney players and a lot worse. How about we worry about the many crappy casual players rather than the few obnoxious tournament players?

And then this is just as bad. Get out of this thread with that, implying that people aren't playing Melee competitively for the sake of fun is insulting.

When did I EVER use a homophobic slur to describe ANYONE here? Show me. Seriously. I am super against that shit and if I'd done that, I would (a) apologize profusely and (b) have been banned already.

Also, in my posts on this topic, I have said many times that not EVERYONE is like those horrible "pro" players. I have said straight up that I've net friendly players in that community. Very few, but I have met them. It seems you have assumed a lot about me that is very inaccurate.

Many "pro" players specifically do try to take the fun out of Smash by shitting on the rest of us who don't play it like they do, like we're somehow worse. Most of the rest of us, on the other hand, really couldn't give a shit how the Melee community plays.

And can I say, by the way, that a HUGE part of the problem is "pro" players calling anyone who doesn't play like them "casuals" (like you just did). It's NOT that binary. You can play seriously and competitively under any rule set. The fact that I don't like to play on only two stages with items off and characters banned doesn't mean I'm suddenly a casual Smash player. It's derogatory and dismissive, and that's where the severe distaste a lot of us have for that community begins. It's completely, utterly justified.

Yeah since I haven't tried it I'm not going to write it off automatically. But we'll see.

I need this as a picture.

Hey, as long as they don't complain about it being poorly designed for their own purposes, more power to them.

Oh St.

What the hell is going on with your avatar

I'm excited about Lucina! I was sure this Lucina wouldn't be taken.

Fat Sorceress from Dragon's Crown was already taken

@Hispanic at the Disco: Is that a fat Lucina avatar? Why? LOL

More

to love.

EDIT: i'm sorry, where are my manners! :P

favorite cake is Yellow with Chocolate frosting.

What even is "yellow" cake?

Falco better have a new Final Smash. It's utterly shocking how THREE Star Fox characters were in Brawl and not one of them had the series most iconic vehicle.

Falco needs the Blue Marine as his FS. Sakurai plz.

Except he's right. Many "pro" players specifically do try to take the fun out of Smash by shitting on the rest of us who don't play it like they do, like we're somehow worse. Most of the rest of us, on the other hand, really couldn't give a shit how the Melee community plays.

Well fine. Since you don't consider competitive play to be valid or fun, I will categorize you with the homophobic POSes that think that competitive play in Smash is stupid, that competitive players are stupid, and that playing it in a tournament scene is "breaking the game." After all, you yourself have basically said it's okay to generalize based on the loudest idiots!

Also, I'm a casual player, so you can piss off with that false outrage. Call me when you're not dismissing an entire community based on the worst of it, THEN you can talk about someone being outrageous besides yourself.

I hope he gets a new final smash too!! As long as it's as cheap as his land master of course :P

It's a common term in the fighting game scene, if you don't participate in a tournament you're a casual. It's not meant to be derogatory. It just means you play the game more casually than someone who wants to put money on the line for it.

And yeah you can play seriously and competitively under any ruleset but there's a reason why tournaments have "standards" so everyone's on the same page. If you dislike the rulesets, you can just play under your own.

So the "casual" vs "tournament" debate spread back to here. :/

Have none of you learnt that never results in a good feeling?

When or where... did I say any of this? Are we having two different conversations or something?

But isn't that sort of countered by water's erosion abilities on ground?

Well, I'm no geologist, but I don't believe that's proportional at all.

Ground water >>> Eroded soil

I could be wrong, though

Don't let your guard down though, you'll see us juniors making the top of the GAF leaderboards in no time!

Is that something to be proud of though

Nothing in these OT's are things to be proud of, especially on the weekends =P Except for our love of Smash
