Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

While I love Sakurai, I think you overestimate him. Remember that Toon Link uses modified versions of Link's moves, instead of using his Deku Leaf, Skull Hammer, or even the Wind Waker.

You can't compare a vet to a newcomer, though. Shulk, Robin, Little Mac, Rosalina & Luma, Bowser Jr., they all have really cool and imaginative movesets.

I contend that literally all Punch-Out!! characters could be made unique from Little Mac.

Narcis Prince - super armour for his lower body, but high knockback on his face. He could gain more power based on "distance launched"
Bear Hugger - He would be a grappler character, and his squirrel buddy would be almost a Luma-like character.
Glass Joe - Incredibly weak Pichu-like fighter, but he needs to be comboed to get serious knockback (as he wears his headgear).
Great Tiger - Levitation, and he could have attacks where you can trick opponents by either inputting to launch Great Tiger forward for a punch, or launching an after image toward the opponent to confuse said opponent. Great Tiger would also be capable of using fire, water, earth, and air-based elemental punches.

That's NOT Wario

Sorry, I just don't see why we need another Punch-Out!! rep after we just got one while other series like Chibi-Robo! and Doshin the Giant get nothing.

look at those fighting words from jawmuncher

I'm guessing Fox, Falco, Marth, Ness, Wario, Captain Falcon, and either Sheik/Ice Climbers are left. I'm also thinking Meta Knight is the surprise "no-vote" character.

You can't just change your tune :v I mean, if you're going to drop the "What would Doc Louis even do?" argument, at least note that instead of just silently moving on

The fact is that Punch-Out!! is a 30-year-old series, and quite frankly, Little Mac has been a viable character for inclusion since Smash 64. Doc Louis deserves a spot before Chibi-Robo or Doshin.

This is one of the surprises for me. I love Ike, but I had no idea he was this popular!

Him making it back in after I figured Snake might not make it back is what kept me big on Smash Hype until the other reveals.
Had both of them been cut out. i'd have been extremely sadden.
His playstyle just suits me perfectly.

To me, despite being weaker than Marth, he just feels more badass in the game. And when you hit with Ragnell, it's just so satisfying. Project M really showed what he could be if he wasn't as slow as a tank
And I hope Smash 4 ups his Brawl speed as well

Never played Shadow Dragon or the original, how did his personality change (and what was it originally like)?

Marth used to be young and naive, he wasn't ready yet when his castle got raided, his sis was captured when she forced Marth to leave in order to save him, and he had a general sacrifice his life to make it out.

It used to be a tale of how he is supposed to grow and mature throughout the story, but in Shadow Dragon he just got pretty bland as a character and is the typical heroic lead who wants to do the right thing and he doesn't show his emotions, whilst you got to feel like you knew Marth in the original since he always talked about how he felt after any event that occured.

Just because I'm a good sport (

) I'll say that Ike is probably the most satisfying character alongsid Ganondorf in that his attacks have so much feedback when hits. The fact that it's so hard to hit with him too makes it all that much sweeter.

Also making him a creepy CG doll did not help

I feel like Marth's cool factor goes down with each new Smash game, especially with newcomers from FE games. Actually if it wasn't for SmashGAF, I wouldn't really know how many cool fighters there are in the series
And how many missed opportunities there are

I still feel like the most likely scenario for Doc Louis would be a complete clone, considering Smash Bros. history. Any character could be unique, even literal clones like Dark Pit. That doesn't mean they will be.
Plus, your "stance change" idea is already taken up by Shulk. Why not make way for other characters? Chibi Robo could incorporate his need to recharge by getting slower/weaker as the fight goes down, needing you to recharge to buff your stats. And Doshin the Giant could piss on the other characters, cause shockwaves with his jumps, and turn into Jashin for his Final Smash.
I love Doc Louis as a character, but he just shouldn't be a fighter. As I've said before, his role should be giving character-specific advice to Little Mac.

The fact that they made a remake of a game that old that didn't surpass the original or even stay ar par with it is kind of sad.

I still remember him as old Marth, he's alright in my book.

The "coolest" lord to me is Sigurd, but that's easily debatable

I remember I instantly liking Ike when he appeared in SSE. I'd never heard of him (I only knew the name Fire Emblem because of Marth, but I knew nothing about the games themselves,) but the way he debuted in that cutscene was really cool.

I can't believe Hours Left was the only guy getting thirsty in the comments section lol

You like Ike, you mean.

Not sure why Samus is so high on this list when she's been legit terrible in every Smash game

Because apparently us western gamers like Samus and Ridley and Metroid in general.

I like her. She actually feels decent in Smash 4 based on the E3 demo.

Edit: Oh yeah she is good in Melee! Can't believe I forgot lol.

I love Samus but I have never liked how she plays in Smash.
I'm hoping ZSS in Smash4 fixed my gripes with her in Brawl.
Not being tied to a Final Smash is nice now at least.

But Ike though he's still the best. Really like his redesign in Smash4.
Reminds me of Chris in RE5.

Wow, I can't believe there's so much hate for the greatest swordsman to ever transcend the worlds that connect the Smash fighters together

I'm completely lost on this argument. For no real reason, Doc Louis will be a Little Mac clone? You've not shown me anything other than vets, and that's a rather silly argument because Doc Louis isn't a vet. With the exception of clones, most characters in Smash have a pretty unique moveset from one another. Your argument works for Chibi as well - Chibi-Robo could very easily be a boring character, or he could be interesting. You can't base a character's value on the worst-case scenario.

Shulk doesn't command the idea of changing movesets mid-fight. Honestly, if Sakurai couldn't do a mode-switching moveset for Doc that wasn't derivative of Mac, he's probably in the wrong job.

Finally, like I said, Punch-Out!! should get a second character before Chibi-Robo gets its first. People have been wanting Little Mac in Smash since before Chibi-Robo was even in development.

Isn't Samus good in Melee? Or at least decent

How could PM Wario not be satisfying?? He has his Shoulder Charge, and it's the COOLEST move! He has his proper grabs! He has a butt stomp attack!

Samus is really good in Melee

I Main Melee Samus, She's still low their but deadly in the right hands.

Can not fucking wait for new Smash. She is the best version of the character by far. Especially her new final smash being both controllable and not breaking into ZSS. She's stronger and faster than ever as well, and is still really hard to knock off.

No only was she weaker in brawl, but grossly floaty, slow and broke into ZSS that you couldn't switch out of. The split of Samus and ZSS was a god send.

New Samus is incredible, very happy to be able to Main again. So glad she's in at least the top 7.

Not sure why Samus is so high on this list when she's been legit terrible in every Smash game
Why is Link so high up the list when he actually is legit terrible in every Smash game, instead of being terrible in two and decent in another?

The answer is because I like the woman in orange.

Isn't Samus good in Melee? Or at least decent

She was in the bottom tier in two out of the three games, her only good appearance (Melee) she was bottom of the C tier though she was technically in the top half of the roster so I'll give her that

12/12

11/26

32/38

That's pretty embarrassing she'll rank higher in this fan vote then she has ranked in any smash tier list
