I can understand JoeInkys dislike for DarkPit.
Since while my feelings aren't as strong I agree with a lot of his arguments.

Especially because as much personality as he had in KIU. That's not exactly going to translate all that much to the game unless we have KIU codec calls. We'll get some grunts, some taunts, a victory quote and that's it. Which doesn't do any character in smash a favor when it comes to really showing why people like him.

I find it hard to believe anyone wanted Dark Pit in Smash. It's probably just Sakurai trying to push more of his own characters into the game.

Why don't you think there'd be KIU smash taunts? If anything, I'd say it's highly likely we get them.

I kind of get Joe's problem where the more unique dark pit is that means more time was spent on him that could have been used to bring back vets like Wolf and Lucas... But I like Dark Pit better then both of them so it really doesn't phase me.

Its weird if our assumptions about Dark Pit and Doc Mario are correct then Lucina really stands out as the no effort clone probably promoted to full character from alt just to pad the roster. Doc Mario has "s64/melee Mario" going for him, dark pit either has brawl pit or potentially other uprising weapons for him to make him feel similar but different. Literally all Lucina has (as far as we can tell) is a mask on/off taunt, and her blade more even in damage. She doesn't have Roy's exploding fire blade, or melee marth's standard b, she looks to be the cloniest clone in the entire series. From a character perspective that's fine because that literally IS her character, gameplay wise its disappointing

Best new song that isn't the main theme is Nintendogs Bath theme for sure! I got such a nostalgic feeling just now, though it was a Yoshi's Island/DKC2/Sonic Adventure kind of feel. I can already tell this will be in my top 5 Smash run song rotation.

No, I just hate Dark Pit and have no idea why people would want him - and I'm a person who wants more villains in smash more than anything, just... not that rubbish.

I don't even remember what he does in KI:U, other than be annoying and forgettable.

I don't necessarily hate Dark Pit himself, since he was a decent character in KI:U, but he has no place in Smash Bros. as an individual character from Pit, in my opinion. I'm also on the 'no matter what his moveset is, I'll be disappointed' boat. A good moveset doesn't make the character better for me.

I'm pretty sure every character was/will be main'd somewhere by someone. So there's no "worst" character. The point of the roster isn't to have only fighters you like. It's meant to have at least one character/a personality for everyone. And I think they did a pretty good job with that. The roster of represented personalities is far better than melee and brawl so far imo.

I'm decently annoyed with all three of 'em, honestly. I was excited for Lucina in Smash, but the moment I saw her replicate Marth's idle animation, I was done. She's a 1:1 clone with nothing but unique mechanics to make her an individual. I'm kinda just fed up with Smash clones in general I guess.

I actually don't mind the concept of it, but I wish we had gotten Dark Samus as a character instead of Dark Pit.

With Doc it just annoys me that he's not an alt costume. His character is literally based on his costume. Just turn the pills into fireballs and we're good.

Dark Pit wasn't my favorite Uprising character, but he definitely wasn't my least favorite, and he was definitely better than Medusa, who everyone suggests here for some reason. He also works perfectly as a clone, and I'm excited to see what they do with him.

People should love him in general because he (Uprising Spoilers)

I have a few problems with Pit. If Dark Pit can fix my little issues with him (like what Doctor Mario did with Mario's moveset in Melee) then I'll use him.

But Dark Samus would be the coolest Metroid rep ever. And Metal Sonic or Shadow would certainly make a lot of people very happy.

A "Dark" version of a character can be interesting if they have the character development Dark Pit does.

Dark Pit's actually an inversion of the typical evil double trope, though. While the point is to make you think he's just going to be "Pit but evul" they deconstruct that almost immediately.

It's hardly Oscarworthy storytelling, but it's more interesting than you're making it out to be.

Nobody complains about Lucina because people here cream their pants any time a game gets female representation of any kind ever since the industry became more about making a political statement than having fun playing games.

Character barely translates to smash though.
If snake hadn't had the codecs or the people who never saw them. You'd think he was the most serious character ever created.

The most smash can do is make someone look into the character. Which isn't bad but personality over anything else is the wrong thing to use for someone getting into smash.

With all that I'm over Dark Pit being in the game and have stopped minding it. Just hope he has a good alt.
