At first, I thought I did read Bit Man as Butt Man. SmashGAF truly changed me.

I was only half-serious about Mewtwo. The character never appealed to me, neither in Smash nor his other appearances, but I totally get why people like him. It is a little surprising to me that he has so much support this time around. I guess this is what it'll be like for Lucas when the next Smash is announced.

Why do all those late 80/early 90 PC games have that same artstyle? I'm not sure how to describe it, other than, it just looks weird.

I'd take Mewtwo over Lucario. I don't get why he's popular, but I also haven't played any games he is from.

It is because he is really important in X and Y, he is the main character on even more movies now and got 2 megas (Only him and charizard did). I want both Mewtwo and Jiggly in the game. I love Mewtwo in Project M (He was kind of shit in melee) and I always loved Jiggly's moveset (But they could make Sing useful this time...)

meh everyone on GAF says this but I dont see a massive drop in quality and ive enjoyed every single one.
one of the best 2D platformers ive ever played. The difficulty issues really amazed me since im hardly a pro player and I 100% TF.
I dont neccesarily want to see any character cut but I think Jigglypuff should be a low priority. I would rather have seen Wolf or Lucas in than Jigglypuff, tbh. Brawl and 4 are likely going to have cuts due to time constraints and I would've rather Sakurai and team spent more time and effort on other characters before Jigglypuff. Also there are so many more deserving pokemon to make it into Smash before Jigglypuff.

The First Movie came out at the height of Pokemon's popularity (at least in my school), and Mewtwo was the first real villain. Boring character? What? He was intimidating and had a great design, and also managed to be a sympathetic character. He was and is one of the most popular Pokemon ever.

Nobody stole anybody's spot, but when it comes to the Pokemon reps obviously there can't be too many. Lucario is extremely popular these days and while I'm personally not a fan, I guess he's earned his spot. Jigglypuff was made popular through the anime, which she hasn't even appeared in for more than ten years afaik.
Plus I just hate her moveset in Smash. Not fun.

Yeah, hopefully they'll be cut soon too, but I know it isn't happening as long as they have Sakurai's ear. The product has gotten stale because they've been at the top for too long, and they're just holding down up and coming talent like Olimar, Falco and Ike. Hell, you know that Ice Climbers and Snake would still be here and getting the pushes they deserve if Mario & pals didn't play politics backstage to get them fired.

Oh, I was definitely around when Mewtwo was popular. You couldn't go five minutes at my school without hearing the word "Pokemon." But even then I didn't like Mewtwo; I didn't like his design, and I was never a fan of the movie at all. When I was a kid, Jessie & James were the only Pokemon villains I cared about.
I've heard, incidentally, that Mewtwo was a more interesting character in the original version of the film, and that he was made more obviously evil in the American version. Maybe if I'd seen the original, then, I'd like him more.

Dr. Mario, Dark Pit and Lucina were planned to be the alt costumes but they have free time to change those alt costumes into clones, but not enough time to make full-fledged character.
Roy, Mewtwo, Dixie, Toon Zelda/Sheik(Tetra) and Plu&Min might requiring a full-fledged character plan comparing to Dr. Mario.

I always liked Mewtwo in as he was the closest character to being a villain in the Pokemon universe.

I counted Mario, then I subtracted "Dr. Mario", "Paper Mario", etc. Unfortunately there's no way to know how "link" and "pit" are used.

And for what it's worth it would make up a team of 6 Pokemon, referencing the games just that little bit more.
Guys, don't misunderstand clones vs new chars. If the alt for a clone is already there, like Lucina WAS, then converting to their own slot is little work. Changing one property isn't that bad.
Plus, their animations were already done and didn't need more work.
New characters are probably hundreds of times more work.
