first week of school + smash 3ds week = longest week ever

fuck thisssssssss

It's gotta be the worst to sit in class and think to yourself 'someone somewhere probably has smash right now and is playing it, and maybe leaking it, but i'm stuck in class.'

Class also makes an hour feel like 3. So while it's technically 71 hours til smash, it's more like 100 to you.

I'm talking about people who complain about a character who isn't important or relevant to Nintendo and argue that another character must be in the game in their place, I feel the Smash Bros roster is restricted to Sakurai's whims.

While I agree that the roster is subject to Sakurai's whim, id say 95% of the characters that make it in are pretty relevant to Nintendo's history and their respective franchise. Only characters that really stick out to me as characters not that important to their series or Nintendo are Jigglypuff, Roy, Sheik and Dark Pit.

Familiarity makes us grow attached to the unlikeliest of characters...If Duck Hunt Dog had begun in Melee and we were getting the Ice Climbers in this game as newcomers, all hell would break loose, claims of Sakurai running out of ideas would flood the Internet...But they were there since the second game, as representatives of the NES era as a whole, a time where Nintendo was creating new IPs left and right to see what stuck. I'm glad to have had them, and I'll be even gladder if they indeed come back as DLC of sorts. Same for my man Lucas, whose moveset put him above Ness in my eyes, and who introduced many to a game with one of the best stories in all of Nintendo. Wolf, who was even more different from Fox than Falco, and who was a blast to unlock here at home, especially for my brother who would spam his howl every single time he got a kill. I wish they return, my rascal Smash brothers. I'll await for them with open arms and closed fists.

Funny thing is, I've seen people wanting Alph as his own character despite practically being counted as a separate character with the name and announcer call for him. :/

I actually would've wanted it that way for consistency's sake (and because maybe he could get rock pikmin), but if he was on another slot then he'd just be another character to add to the list of "wasted slots" in which Mewtwo/Wolf/whoever could've been clone-haters like to post :p

As it is right now, at least for the majority of people, he's a pretty cool touch.

I'm still rocking a launch 3DS. But it should be fine until I get the new 3DS. That's as long as I need it to last.
This is an upside to the New 3DS being so far away, I suppose.

My OG's circle pad is still perfect, but the D-Pad has sharp edges for some reason. I don't know how that happened, or if it was always like that and it just took ages to notice.

Also this just got announced

UK tournament that's going to have Smash 4 3DS as one of the games there, going to be the first tournament Smash 3DS appears at in the UK and it has the endorsement of Nintendo who will be providing prizes, equipment and money, so it should be a pretty top-notch event.

You can't register yet though, I'll make another post when it becomes available for anyone who wants to go, but I'm definitely planning on going and entering Smash 4 and PM.

Nintendo sponsoring grassroots tournaments...!

Dr. Mario being a puzzler rep just doesn't cut it for me. He's the one character that I really just don't get and him returning has me completely dumbfounded.

I'm pretty disappointed that there has been no leaks yet. I'm not a hypocrite either, I want the leaker to give us the goods and live peacefully while doing so.

While today Jigglypuff doesn't seem that important, during the First Gen of Pokemon, Jigglypuff was one of the most iconic Pokemon right below Pikachu. Mostly due to Jigglypuff's reoccurring status in the anime.

Roy was important at the time because he was the star of the most recent Fire Emblem game. Which seems to be the same reason Ike and Lucina/Robin were introduced at their times.

Dark Pit, I'll give you. He's probably in because Sakurai likes him and because he's an exceptionally easy clone to implement.

...I might try and go to that tournament. Can get down there for free so why not. Try and get some pictures and stuff, see if I can make it out the first round in 3DS, haha.

Nintendo sponsoring a tournament with Project M though

+1

Jigglipuff falls into this as I see it, because she is a classic Smash Bros character now, like Sheik. I kind of understand if he has to cut characters because of any reason he has (But he could at least explain why honestly) buy no one should say "THAT character should be cut"

Just because you didn't grew attached to that particular character because of your taste or games you played it doesn't mean other people didn't. No cut has ever been "good", just more or less comprehensible.

Sheik? I know she's Zelda, but the Sheik persona was a minor part of one game (Two now with Hyrule Warriors) and is a full unique character as of this Smash.

Possibly late to the party but an website is reporting that Famitsu has reviewed and scored Smash for 3DS. Not sure of rules with this kind of stuff and really don't want a ban. Please let me know if even this info is out of line!

Jigglypuff was important to Nintendo when Pokemon was at the height of its popularity back in the 90's, she was one of the most popular Pokemon and had a recurring role in the anime, she might not have the same popularity she did back then but neither do many of the characters still in the game, that was basically my whole point, some characters haven't appeared in games in years yet they're still deserving of a spot but Jigglypuff isn't.

and yeah, I know, Meowth, Mewtwo, the Red/Blue starters but that doesn't take away from Jigglypuff's popularity back then, they weren't lucky enough to look like Kirby.

Does that mean no internet for the last few weeks? Spoilers will be everywhere in a few days.

Can't be a total internet blackout; I need it for my projects. but staying off gaming sites means I miss out on fun times...

I really want to go dark, but that ain't happening.

It'll be too hard to ignore the coverage.

Yeah, not to mention how many people will run the gauntlet between being coy or throwing it in your face.

Nope. Survived hundreds of hours of beating and I'm not child who mashes his control when he can't get his own way, so it'll be fine.

.... you have no idea what he's talking about do you?

He's talking about the quick movements that are used with smash.
That's a good question as personally since Melee, I've burned the rubber off about 4-7ish right sticks from my Gamecube controllers. All of it due to playing smash.

Yeah her too. I forgot about her for a second but I had edited her back in. Impa could always replace her if push came to shove. However, I doubt Jigglypuff or Sheik will ever be cut.
