Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

Don't you have to decrypt PSN games you own first? Or did that step get obsoleted at some point?

No. AFAIK. Since the sandbox will see the EBOOT.PBP as a normal file. Provided it's in the "iso" folder anyway.

Never had problems with store-bought PSP titles running in the sandbox via Sandbox, anyway...

OKay pause guys, this unlocking full game trial thing with the pkgs is straight up piracy. It took me ages to get the PSNova demo, I personally wish I could use it to get my JP PSP games but you can't, but for good reason I suppose.

Gladiator Begins is still on the marketplace so I am kinda still considering now, especially since I have about 25GB spare on my 64GB card. But all it will make me do is force myself to complete as much MonHan as possible so I can update my Vita again =(

WHy on earth didn't this game come out in the EU?

Terraria (JP&US) trials and Limbo (US) trial don't unlock the full game as far as I can tell.

When you do find a game you can pirate, don't go posting here how you did it or that you did it... This is why we can't have nice things.

I read it IS true, but meh.

Playing the Puyo Puyo Tetris demo with my GF. We really wanna play together since she loves Puyo Puyo and I'm pretty decent at Tetris.

Damnit! Why couldn't this come out for Xbone before she went back to Japan!!!!!!!!!

I don't think the trials things is true at all. Video looked fake as heck.

I don't think it is real too, it seems like only one guy is claiming it is real and only has that vague video to show for it.

Puyo Puyo Tetris is so much fun, I just got a copy for Vita last week and love it.

Yeah I am tempted to buy a cheap PS3 just so I can play for the next two weeks with my partner. She sucks so much at Tetris lmao.

I got the exploit to work with Superbikes, but I'd like to add that when you are transferring the files it will appear as a PSX game, not as a PSP one. Obvious, but it took me a while to figure it out.

So in order to use some emus with this version, I still have to wait to the hacked firm, right?

What kind of price is this?!

So the Tekken 2/Sports Superbike 2 exploit... are they no good without at least a VHBL to get PS1 eboots on the Vita? I'd kill to play Wipeout 2097/3 on it but don't know where to go from there :(

This is interesting here
Indeed. I have no idea, but is this also something that could be patched? Should I buy Tekken 2 now just in case?

Should probably get it anyway, worst case scenario I have an awesome fighting game on my Vita.

Ok lets say I have Phantasy Star Portable 2 on my PSP. The only way to play it is on Gladr Begins exploit, yes?

Is it possible to load Phantasy Star Portable 2 on the VITA home screen instead of loading Gladiator Begins?

All we got was a terrible video that didn't even show him installing any packages at all, he just showed he had package manager, didn't use it.
99% certainty that it's fake.

No. Why would it be? You're needing to access the PSP sandbox via exploit. PhStPort2 isn't that exploit.

GAF.

I'm very intrigued to run PSX games with sound, but here's my doubt:
And actually i have my Vita with the exploit 101-in-1 Megamix and the firmware 3.01.

Any chance to make it work?

Exploit should work on 3.01, but you're going to need a method to get one of the 2 games onto the system.

Should be possible if you download the PSN store file for one of the titles to your PC and FTP it over... yeah?

That or download it and possibly QCMA it?

So any confirmation Tekken 2 US version is working? Only reports I've read are the PAL version. Even on Zetts(I think his name is) video, he has the PAL version if you look at the PS1 list on his Vita, when he scrolls over Tekken 2, it says SCES/SLES or something but its not the US version.

I thought we could only download stuff from PSN directly to the Vita or to a PS3 and that PC transfer was only for backups we made from the Vita to the PC. Am I wrong?

What I was doing on 3.01 for any new Vita games I got was using OCMA + PS3 to transfer over the games to Vita, and then backing them up on my PC for storage.

Actually i'm with TN-V.

TN-V does nothing for what you're asking about because TN-V is an exploit in the PSP emulator, and you want an exploit in the PS1 emulator which requires one of those two games bought from PSN. If you don't have Tekken 2 or XS Moto, you can't run the PS1 exploit.

How would I delete my PSP homebrew within the exploited save file if i need to free up space?

edit: Also how would i remove TN-V completely if i want to?

Removing the homebrew copied via the save is as simple as deleting the homebrew from within the save folder on your computer and then copying the save back to the vita. Its how I used to do it with Open CMA.

As for completely removing TN-V, because it sets up a couple hidden directories and files the only way to completely wipe it from your memory card is to format the memory card.

I see. I'm getting a 64GB card soon, is there anything i should keep in mind with regards to TN-V when transferring data to my new card?

I think you'd only really need setup TN-V and install all your homebrew or ripped PSP ISOs from scratch again, since the files and directories that the process installs won't be present on the new card. Aside from that, Vita specific stuff can just be restored from backups using CMA.

If things have changed, I'm sure someone can correct me. I haven't messed with TN-V / Vita homebrew since the beginning of this year.

I get black screen > error with Tekken 2. oh well, i think i can nostalgia a bit and make the $6 worth it for this game :)

I believe the US Tekken 2 save file is not working properly unlike the PAL version. I'd stay put and wait until the US save gets checked and fixed by someone else. I mean thats what Im hoping. With the PAL code in there its just a matter of time for a hacker to check both files and see what the error is on the US save.

So for making things clear.

If i want the PSX Loader, i must go into the store and buy Tekken 2 or XS Moto.
But at the same time, if i have exploited 3.01 firmware i can't enter to the store to buy the game because the system tells me to update the system (to 3.18) so i will lose my exploit.

Which means that to have Tekken 2 it will cost me purchase aswell the new exploit game for 3.18?

I think what you could technically do is buy Tekken2/Xmoto from your PC and download it with the Content Manager thing. Then once on your computer, you can FTP it to your Vita via your 3.01 exploit. (Go into PSP mode, launch FTP app)

Now when you download a file from the online store to your PC, Im not sure if its already as an EBOOT or its encrypted so Im not sure you still need an extra step to decrypt your purchased game.

Edit: You know what, read this thread at Wololo. It sounds like you need a PS3 to transfer files to a Vita with an old FW like yours. So you might not have to update to the next FW but do some research.

see a few posts above (and the comments section wololo.net), Tekken 2 is not confirmed to work as of right now.

I just went ahead and bought XS Moto, since it is confirmed to be working. I bought Tekken 2 last night. I didn't want to buy XS Moto too, but I'm afraid after everything that happened yesterday, that the Tekken 2 exploit may never be fixed.

Dumb question: why do I need the PSX exploit if I already have TN-V? Does TN-V not play PS1 games with sound or something? Trying to decide if it's worth bothering with, especially since the only PS1 game I can think of to play inside TN-V (as opposed to Vita proper) are all the Crash games I bought a while back and the disc copy of Wipeout 3 that I suppose I could rip to pkg maybe?

You want it if you want to play your own converted PS1 games with sound. Sound for PS1 games is handled by the Vita itself. It's not emulated within the PSP emulator like everything else is. When using TN-V, you're locked into the PSP emulator, so you won't have sound with custom made PS1 Eboots because it can't normally access the areas of the Vita that emulator PS1 sound. Total Noob made a plug-in that would let PS1 games have sound, but it was really buggy and didn't work for every game. This new exploit will let custom PS1 games run perfectly, with sound. None of this is an issue though if you don't want to convert your own PS1 games. If you just want to buy games you've bought from the PSN, then don't worry about it.

Okay, so if I understand correctly, I don't need the PSX exploit if I'm using games available on PSN, even if they're not available on Vita (ex. Crash), but I DO need it if I'm using games I rip from disc?

Yes. PS1 games from the PSN work fine. PS1 games you rip and convert yourself need the exploit for sound.

No. You're right. If you have anything on PSN you want to keep before the firmware update, you better download it and then put it on your PC as a harddrive backup before the firmware updates because it's a huge pain in the ass to move PSN stuff around post-firmware update.

Can anyone answer my questions from the last page? :(

This post I assume?

Okay, just to confirm, I need Tekken 2 from the PSN store while on version 3.18 to play PS1 games with full sound capabilities?

What other things do I need? Is there a tutorial on this process?

I'd really appreciate it guys!

The exploit will work on ANY version 3.18 or earlier as long as you have Tekken 2 (EU) on your Vita already. US version of Tekken 2 doesn't currently work and you'll have to use XS moto instead.

As for how to use it.... http://wololo.net/2014/09/14/how-to-using-the-ps1-exploit/ sums it up very well.

Other than sound, would there be a performance difference between using the PS1 hack and just loading the eboots through the PSP XMB? like a better framerate.

i guess i'm asking if the vita uses a separate vita PS1 emulator or if it's just using the old psp one.

Both emulators strive to run games at full PS1 speed, as such you won't get boosts to the frame rate no matter what mode an emulator is running on (If it was 15FPS on a PS1, it will run at 15FPS in vita or PSP modes).

There MAY be issues since TN-V is using a custom sound driver not designed for use with Sony's emulator (it's actually incredible to me that they managed to jury-rig it into working) with slowdowns, but I haven't tested it myself to know for sure.

Gladiator game still working? I'm about to purchase Gladiator and XS Moto

Yep. Sony seems to be momentarily paralyzed by the sudden flood of games they have to test/confirm before taking from the store... This is the longest any games have stayed up after an exploit was released.
