So I heard this was a pilot for adult swim and they decided to make it into a series. I decided myself to watch it because I was bored and I could feel that it was another fucked up adult swim cartoon, which I enjoy. It's also just a short pilot so whats the harm?

How in the hell is this going to air on TV? Even if it is on late at night it's still on cartoon network. I enjoyed it but I don't know how to feel about this, should I consider myself evil now? Gaf my brain is confused about what my eyes just witnessed.
 
Superjail is at the perfect spot for me when it comes to crazy and grotesque animation.


Mr Pickles is absolutely an assault to my senses.

As someone who kind of enjoyed Superjail, this cartoon is just awful. It's not aurally funny, it's not visually funny, it's just extreme stuff happening for 12 minutes. It's the type of cartoon that's rooted on the idea that the more outlandish and extreme something is, the more inadvertently funny it will be.
 
I can't with the mr pickles. It's just like, how can we make the dog do the most obvious and "cartoonishly evil" stuff, and sneak it in all "unexpected" like. I think it would get old after a few episodes. But I only saw the pilot.

I say bring back WonderShowzen, not make new crap like this.

how is anyone having a "wtf" reaction to this? It's boring, lazy and unfunny as shit. no jokes or actual provocation, just a 14 year old's idea of gory extremity mixed with some trite sex and race jokes. This alone would make me worried about the state of [as] if Bedtime Stories and the returns of Metalocalypse, Rick and Morty and Eric Andre weren't on the horizon. but from the greatness of that slate it's clear there had to have been some paperwork mixup that accidentally got this unimaginative shit an order

edit: Also just as a show this has absolutely zero future potential after the pilot. The central "joke" has a lifetime of maybe 5 minutes, the first episode stretches it out beyond that. literally nowhere for any future episodes to go, it's just going to be the same thing over and over. I'm actually angry at how bored I'm getting just thinking about watching this show
 
I have to admit I lol'd at the grandads story about what he saw mr pickles doing then the scene with mr pickles and the roid bear.

Haha too true. except in the newgrounds days the cartoons were actually being made by teenagers sneaking time in at daddy's computer, not adults being given money by a legit-ass television production company

I really, really don't like Mr Pickles; it's pretty much everything that despise about a lot of modern adult-aimed animation in the west.
I'm waiting for the day when we can start getting adult-aimed cartoons that are as well written (I will admit that we do have this one), well-animated, and aesthetically pleasing as family/"kid" programming like Adventure Time/Avatar/Steven Universe/Sym-Bionic Titan/Samurai Jack/Powerpuff Girls.

Everybody seems to learn the wrong lessons from Ren and Stimpy.
Most people seem to love this and this, but they don't seem to pay too much attention to the skillful animation/character acting and great artistic direction that was found within the series.
John K knows his stuff, the guy may be a bit of a jerk but he's a very skilled and talented animator/artist.
What I admire about him is that he generally understands that the "Principles of Animation" are incredibly important for learning how to animate, but he doesn't exactly subscribe to every principle because some of them aren't essential to making believable and appealing animation.
It's really easy to see this in his work, and it creates some very interesting/appealing/believable movement and acting.

Someone hasn't been keeping up with adult swim lately. They have some great animation teams and also some great character designs. Not in this particular pilot though. Rick and Morty is god tier.

Rick and Morty really is fantastic...I just wish it had better animation, character acting, and art direction (Like, if it looked and moved like a Tartakovsky cartoon or a McCracken cartoon or a Rudish cartoon or even something like Steven Universe it would be the best thing since sliced bread)
The writing really saves that show from just being another mediocre-looking/moving adult-focused cartoon. .
