Final Fantasy Type-0 HD coming on March 17 2015. Download code for FFXV demo included

Speculation here but, I wonder if SE is going to use this as an excuse to charge $60 for Type-0.

I'd assumed they would once it was revealed that they'd redone the visuals and everything. Also it wasn't officially released in NA, so they see it as a completely new game for the market. I think they would have charged $60 even without the demo.

I actually find this news to be incredibly encouraging, though. I didn't think Type-0 had a solid release date yet for North America, and assuming the FFXV demo doesn't come out too long after it, I didn't expect it to see it playable until E3 2015 at least.

I hope the Dragon Quest PS4 comes out in time.

Totally agree...it's extremely smart of SE to release the demo with Type-0. They can charge more per game and volume sales will see a massive boost. This becomes more about XV than Type-0 which is nuts.

They aren't rebuilding it much more than their other HD remasters. $60 is kind of steep for what is still, at its core, a 2011 PSP game.

Why is $60 steep? The game was never released here. As far as how high quality this remaster is, that remains to be seen.

I don't understand your argument about it being a 2011 PSP game at its core. What exactly do you mean by that? I assume you mean assets. Yes, those need to be drastically upgraded for a PS4/Xbone release. Other than that though, what does it matter if the mechanics and gameplay are from 2011 as long as they're good? I know nothing about Type-0 though, so maybe your point is that the gameplay wasn't good to begin with?

This is going to be Zone of the Enders/Crackdown all over again. People are going to buy the game for the demo, then finally try the game only after they get their fill of whatever the demo offers.

I remember buying a used copy of ZoE and being pissed (at first) that it didn't have the MGS2 demo.

Yes, but there is no way SE can't take this opportuniy to kick their audience in some way. $60 is absurd for a pumped up Vita rpg, but they will do it.

Tabata said in interviews at PAX that they had internally already decided on a release date for Type-0, but he couldn't divulge it yet.

Type-0 comes out on March 17th in NA. You have it right in the OP...

I am saying that, at its core, the game is still very much a handheld experience.

Not even Vita. PSP original.

Very excited to finally play it though and even more excited to try out FFXV after all these years of waiting. Nice news day.

If they're heavily reworked the assets, I have no problem with it being full price, regardless of the demo. I did buy the ACC bluray for the XIII though, so I am clearly an idiot.

The two screens that we've seen seems to show a pretty decent difference. I guess we'll see whenever they release the full trailer with screens. But either way I don't fault them for going full price. Rockstar is certainly going to charge $60 for GTAV, and that was just released last year and has sold 30m+ worldwide. So if they're going to do that then I don't see why Square wouldn't change full price for a game that the overwhelming majority of people that are going to buy it have never played.

Fair enough. Will be interesting to see how that translates to the console.

I think we all knew that it was probably going to be $60 prior to knowing it would come with the FFXV demo. It's SE after all. I think that fate is all but sealed now ;)

Final Fantasy Type-0 : $40
Final Fantasy Type-0 Special Edition: $60 (FF15 demo, soundtrack, key strap)

probably.

No, that's too kind for Square Enix. It's a PS4 game and a blu-ray disc after all, and with the XV demo they can certainly charge $60 for that alone.

I always figured Type-0 would be full price even before the Demo announcement.

I have it pre-ordered and in Canada it is full price.

Considering the screenshots we've seen so far, I don't think it's a simple remaster (not like how FFX was upgraded slightly). They looked fairly different to me personally. I'm definitely buying it day 1 for $60 assuming I have a PS4 by then - I think it'd be worth it since I haven't played the original game. The demo of XV is just extra fluff; I'd have paid $60 for Type-0 HD anyways.

So this was pointed out, but... what we're getting here is actually the promise of a demo... GI wasn't told if it's a day and date thing and I don't know either...

Actually originally heard Type-0 was going to be pushed back past March for the demo's inclusion but I'm wondering now if they decided they needed to pad out the fiscal year instead so they came up with the voucher idea.

I dunno, wasn't the Type-0 OST huge, like 3 discs?

They play the same tracks over and over again during gameplay.

Really? That's a shame. Sounded like the game had made some real progress basing off of what that Japanese lady said and other reports.

I think pushing back would have made sense. Type-0 would obviously sell more if darn XV was included with it upon launch. Maybe XV is further along than we think?

Little late to respond, oh well.

Before TGS even begins, I wake up to this and felt chills. Type-0 and a future XV demo? Completely sold. Then again, was going to buy Type-0 regardless. Gotta get that PS4 soon too. Better start saving those paychecks!

Mmh even with the demo in it, 60 bucks for this is a bit too much.
I was already planning on buying it used, but Duscae forces me to buy it new, so at leat i hope its cheaper.

I'm so ready for this. SO READY.

So the game is far enough along for a public demo to be released? Could this mean a Holiday 2015 release date maybe?

Hopefully the demo won't take *too* long to release after Type-0 HD comes out... I can wait a few months, but a year or more? Ugh, that'd be so lame.

I want SE to actually have the cojones to use the "Please be excited" image on the code slip, with no mention of when it can be used.

HOLY FUCK AND A DEMO TOO.

This basically confirms 2015/Early 2016 release date right? FFXIII demo in mid 2009, JP release in late 2009 and EU/NA release was in early 2010.

Not necessarily as we don't know exactly when exacly the demo will drop. Though it seems there aiming to release the game around that time.

It could be the only new reveal. People here want new videos for XV, Type-0 and KH3. Release dates too.

There is a release date, for Type-0 anyway. And it's a North American one at that. And personally, I don't see why anyone would expect significant footage and a release date for KHIII until Versus is done. That's just not happening.

Maybe I set my expectations too low, but after the warnings I was just expecting media for Type-0 and nothing else. A North American release date and news of a FFXV demo coming with it is a lot more than I thought they'd deliver on.
