Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer | Lord Nomura giveth us His only Son so we may live

The revamped animation system is amazing.

I'm really liking the overhaul to the combat system, makes it look a lot more grounded.

On the negative side, the particle effects on Noct are way underdone, plus the warp transitions are too subtle. They were better 15 months ago. Maybe the effect increases as you level up.

Can't wait.

Maybe we're just seeing early game where abilities are just basic attacks. I'm wondering if that trailer will be the demo we get. Which I'm completely fine with.

I guess we're alone. Oh well. This does not have the charm or soul of what I expect out of the series. At all. A bunch of dudes riding around in a car repeating the equivalent of a Michael Bay summer blockbuster dialogue? What am I missing?

You're certainly not alone.

I can get past stupid characters or dialogue, but the combat in this trailer looked very slow and boring to me. It looked a lot better in previous trailers though, so hopefully there's a lot more to show off.

The game gives of a somewhat romantic modern Romeo and Juliet vibe.

the scope of the game is simply overwhelming to think about

its coming across as bigger than something like FFVII remade for current gen

Why no Cor Leonis? Oh well, suppose he's not in the story at this point in the game.

Very nice. Beautiful in fact. The only thing that bothered me was the combat looked a lot slower than what they showed last year at E3. Other than that, H.Y.P.E. 20XV LET'S DO THIS!!!

My biggest problem is that it seems like there is no thematic consistency in the art design.

Huge Dinosaur monsters, naturalistic landscapes, and then a Mercedes Benz driving around with future looking knight dudes to fight.

Just doesn't seem to tie together at all and is lacking a unifying cohesive vision.

That was one weird ass trailer of random shit. I have a feeling the development hell of this game will shine through pretty badly.

I was impressed the trailer had a coherent tonal quality. Hope that's indicative of the game.

I refuse to get excited until I find out the battle system isn't an overcomplicated incoherent mess, though. It has the potential to be and I really hope it isn't.

-Only one nation has magic, because they have the last known crystal.
(If you recall last year's trailer, there was that Mexican standoff where one side had guns, and the other side manifested swords from thin air.)
-Game is still not likely to release for another year. AA implementation can wait.

Thank you...re: your first point, um, is Noctis' nation the one WITH magic?

The overworld exploration (what little we saw) looks nice, but really no different from what we've seen in footage of the old PS3 builds. Honestly, the graphics didn't really do much to wow me. It doesn't look to be native 1080p and frankly I'm not sure the visual fidelity I'm seeing here excuses that fact.

Still it's a Lightning-less Final Fantasy (at freakin' last) so there's enough to be excited about, and I'm sure the gameplay will be tight as a drum.

that car...the grill...the coffee mug

mixed with classic ff enemies and nomura hair

it's like everything I thought I knew is collapsing in on itself

After watching the trailer again, I can't help but feel that changing this game's name was a mistake. It 100% feels like a spin off to me. Especially with the lack of variety in the party. It's currently a sausage fest in black. But that's entirely a scenario problem. Which I'm assuming was pretty much locked into place years ago when it was still supposed to be a spin off.

I could say the same for a lot of the previous FF games in the series.

Your judging this off a YouTube video? Come on man :/.

I have never played a Final Fantasy game before and I'm super impressed with this. Do I have to play one to understand what's going on or can I jump in here? If not, where should I start/avoid?

"This is a fantasy based on reality"

Guessing the intro will be them escaping the city with some abiliteasing of higher level stuff (since they're close to the crystal?) and this stuff is low level without all the fancy stuff.

Or at least I hope so.

The combat animations are really bad though. I hope there is some variation to it. Noctis & Co. are always doing the same attacks with the same weapons in every single trailer they showed. :X

What does this has to do with anything?
Destiny will win GOTY this year. If Destiny came out in 2015 it would easily win GOTY.

This looks as good as or better than The Witcher 3 to me.

Graphics certainly aren't a complaint concerning this game.It looks phenomenal.

It doesn't have to. I like random, weird crazy shit. It stands out.
