Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer | Lord Nomura giveth us His only Son so we may live

Okay. So all of the main characters are going forward, they're on their own quest, their own journey. So the main character is going to ask the driver to turn back because he wants to kill some monsters or help some random NPC? That doesn't make thematic sense. "Open world" can mean a lot of things. Semi open hubs where you do your business and then progress can be considered "open world".

I would never take past information about FFXV for granted. It was originally a PS3 game.

Noctis is a prince. He's obviously going to decide where the party goes at any time. The other characters basically "work" for him.

Bought a PS3 for this. I'm so ready.

How many goats do I need to sacrifice for this shit to come out 2015-2016? I didn't see a release date in the trailer, so I guess they're still not confident on a release date?

I just don't understand what people are referring with "it doesn't fit"

what is supposed to fit with a giant monster ??

Or I guess we should take out giant monster because they don't exist in real life.

It looks silly.

It's a bunch of modern Japanese fashion models riding around in a luxury car while a fantasy video game plays around them. No effort has been made to design it like a believable, coherent world, it's just a bunch of stuff they think looks cool/will sell thrown together.

So are the people in your party just AI controlled or do you set up gambits for their behaviors?

If this is true then we can control them:

I don't know if this is old ...

Some information by Prokanon (he works for Famitsu and he is a member of an italian forum ) about the demo :

The name "Episode Duscae" is confirmed and is derived from a particular event.
- The playing time will not be the scene of Leviathan but an advanced area of the game.
- The scenario will be a forest / grassland green.
- You will have full control of Noctis and two other heroes.
- The demo will have an average duration similar to that seen with that of FF XIII.
- There is no mention of retail version at the time (limited edition will ?!) but DD, always with date to be determined.

In the Versus trailers they were playable so I'd assume so anyway.

Yeah, I have seen lots of people who seem to think Square has copied Xenoblade. Those people clearly haven't followed Versus XIII from the start.

What we saw today is what Nomura promised years, YEARS back. Xenoblade obviously was released first, so lots of misinformed people believe FFXV was adapted to a more "Xenoblade-esque" style.

Which is wrong.

Did Versus also have all those giant creatures, huge monsters roaming and even dinosaurs? Honest question, I dunno. Even the artstyle of the monsters is similar. I mean this:

As I was watching the trailer I was thinking of much it looks like Xenoblade, which isn't a bad thing, but I'd prefer another, more unique, style. Well, in fact I want a new medieval/fantasy Final Fantasy :(

Some college-aged kids with spiky hair isn't a fantasy based on reality.

What's wrong with fantasy medieval settings? Hell, IX wasn't even entirely medieval, it had the perfect blend of industrial revolution technology and medieval settings.

What's wrong with modern fantasy settings?

XII and XIV are more "traditional" FF fantasy. XIII and XV are FFVII-esque sci-fi/fantasy. SE isn't giving us the same thing over and over again and people are complaining about it.

That looked great, but "IN DEVELOPMENT"? Goddammit SE! This is beyond ridiculous now. Give it a fucking date already.

Still, awesome, awesome trailer. I hope the entire game looks like and feels like that. For some reason, the camaraderie and brohood they keep talking about came across in the trailer. I think these guys are going to be great to play as and the character designs are as great as ever.

Don't keep me waiting too long SE.

It only has that giant 'IN DEVELOPMENT' text on the English version. The Japanese version doesn't. Maybe something the localization crew added?

If they kept what was seen in the older trailer(where you can actually snipe with Prompto), you might have some direct control over your other party members. Probably a similar "switch on the fly" type command(I think Type-0 does this, where you can hop into control of anybody in your party).

well two of the party members are royalty with a long lineage that has always been with Caelum family. The only person who isn't royalty is promto... the blonde naive and loud guy. Monarchs always take advisement from their lords.

We never saw them before, but Nomura also said the game would include huge creatures, and that we would fight them in different heights. Again, that was before Xenoblade was announced.

Pulse did in FFXIII

Was thinking the same thing. Quite a few Xenoblade vibes.

Don't those monsters look a lot like Garula from FFV?

If they are, I really like their new look, I hope they have other forgotten monsters from past entries roaming the fields.

well, nomura did design the monsters in ffv...and he did art design for this game as well.

Modern Setting FF always looked like this. Have you seen FFVIII? It had spaceships, space walking, T-Rexes and monsters falling from the moon.

Knowing they are including a lot of classic FF monsters(some even in classic designed form), I see those long necked creatures and their pig-like heads in silhouette and I'm KINDA wondering, what if they are FFXV's take on this:

how do you even know that ?

There are cities and civilization in the game. That's where these guys come from.
The monster is in the wild and probably in an area untouched by advancement and tech.
How do you reconcile those two together ?

Think of it as people in the modern world doing a safari in a car.

But instead of lions and rhinos we get an adamantoise in the game.

What's so incomprehensible about this ?

Anyway I am done arguing about the art direction.

I honestly love Final Fantasy XV trailers mainly because they test my Japanese, sort of.

ちょっと上手じゃない...
