Destiny |OT5| New patch out Tues., Master Rahool reportedly crying into his robes

Everyone needs to stop focusing on the loot cave.

They fucked up the Queen's Wrath event and focused on this shit instead of fixing the broken ass raid.

And the loot system itself. That is one of the massive problems.

We bought a game without any balance. Legendary engrams should roll legendarys way more than 2/10 odds.

All they had to do is reduce the gear to two or one shards. The content is now dead for everyone with a legendary helm and chest. The sniper and ship are still there, but the shards were the main reason for doing it.

So much salt in here, makes me laugh. Quick, everyone jump off the bandwagon.

Wasn't ever a fan of the loot cave anyways, it wasn't the way they wanted the game to be played. They will fix the issues, just give them time.

Thats nice but I own the game now and this shit shoulda been fixed before hand.

Oh man, if the AR/shotgun nerf and SR buff happen at the same time as the Iron Banner, Bungie is going to be in a world of verbal shit.

This is the absolute truth. As someone who has the solar scout rifle from VoG, I guarantee you I will be reaping the shit out of guardian souls that day if it does drop around the same time.

THE MAIN TWO ISSUES!

1. Bungie ruined this event
2. They focused on fixing all this loot stuff first instead OF FIXING THE FUCKING RAID!!!

YOU FUCKERS!

Eh, the event isn't ruined since people can still get gear to become raid ready. And yes, while the final boss of the raid has some annoying as hell bugs that occur a bit too frequent, fixing the loot system should be the biggest priority on their plate. At least the raid doesn't break the game for players.

Seriously

and i was already beginning to think that if PvE AR performance showed or meant anything, then in Iron Banner ARs were going to be dropping off in damage harder than any other primary weapon

i don't think nerfing and buffing those two weapons at the same time make sense in the way that the crucible is working right now. just going by the last two days of precision weapon based bounties, its easy to see that a lot of people have no idea how to work without the AR+autoaim forgiving them after every shot

I like most of these updates they are planning, a lot of good stuff that will make the game better.

however I do not understand why they would take away shards from the queens mission.

What i gather from the dev notes:

"Yeah so we are not perfect or the best, we're listening, and we're reacting. hang tight."

I appreciate them acknowledging problems and finding ways of fixing them in a way that promotes open dialogue.

I almost have 72 hours into this game already, expect a full review soon.

This problem is the game has a lot of activities but the rewards don't seem to match the time investment.

Personally I'd like to see more quests and not just fetch quests but quests with some type of actual plot. Perhaps even a cutscene. Lemme get out there and help people and improve their lives...by going to an area and shooting whoever is bothering them in the face, lol.

And more emotes. That d-pad can be used for FAR more than just 4 base emotes.

And expand the city. More non-combat content. Minigames or something.

Balance

Our goal when balancing Destiny is to never have one player choice-- for example a choice of class or weapon-- either be so much better than the alternatives that it is the only valid choice or to be so much worse that it would always be a mistake to choose. When we are successful with this kind of balance the result is a wide set of equally compelling player builds, some of which may be preferred by one player or another but none of which is an absolute right or wrong choice.

So Titans are getting a super buff? Lol

Complete bullshit. Make the other weapons better, don't nerf one. Just an easy fix because Bungie doesn't know how to balance a game for eons now.
almost every other weapon class is completely fine and equally viable. I bet ARs will STILL be dominant after whatever nerf this is, too. ridiculous
Uh, what? I did the weekly heroic on level 28 and got 9 strange coins, some marks and some rep. Nightfall is basically guaranteed to give legendaries/exotics......?
Strange Coins is one of the rolls you can get from the nightfall. (it also gives a bunch of rep). I still think it's a good reward.

So now that loot cave is nerfed, what's a not-quite-level-21 supposed to do to get to level 21 and beyond?

Só Bungie just nerfed the loot cave. I was there 15 mins ago, got disconnected for a patch update and when I came back, it doesn't work anymore. Enemies take more than 3x to respawn now.

Luckily I had just acquired my first exotic thanks to this blessed cave. Waiting for the next hotspot to be found now, back to the Crucible.

To be honest if you weren't already at least in full purple armor the loot cave was a big waste of your time. Even then it was questionable, and more useful for those 27+ that had already done most of their progression for the week.

Yeah I meant to say that they nerfed ARs after the beta not buffed. Honestly, I bet they'll still be just as viable as they are now. Range will be slightly less but that's completely fine.

To me, it's really about how they patched out the only quick way to progress through the end game stuff. Now it's going to take me much longer to get to level 26 and the raid/later strikes. And there's no alternative that gives loot at nearly a similar rate.

Lies.

You can get to 27 in 2 weeks without RNG involved.

before you discard all quessn's bounty, dont forget that kill order missions can also reward you with legendard weapons. My frd just got a legendary queen's themed sniper from it.

im pretty sure the ARs got nerfed coming out of the beta

nah ARs were horrible in beta. At least all the ones I used there. Don't think I had a Shinigen, Gallahad, Hushwind, or any other 'namebrand' AR back in beta though so it is highly possible I have no clue what I'm talking bout

[edit] Sorry, I really didn't know what I was talking bout guys

So all we get is a "Soon™" in our faces. Well, call me back when the updates they promised are made. I'm done, I don't have the time to play 30 hours in a week and the cave was the only thing I could do to get loot in 1-2 hours.

I don't get why people keep saying they are going to fix the engrams/cryptarch. My read on those notes is they are going to fix how the game communicates how shitty they are, not make them better.

But we didn't adequately communicate the potential random outcomes of decryption. Players see what looks like the familiar metaphor of item identification, while the Cryptarch thinks he's opening a grab bag of loot. Rage sharding of blues ensues. Expect to see changes to address this soon.

To me that says they want to make it clear that it isn't loot identification, but a "grab bag" of loot. Not change the system.

Loot Cave [']

It's not like I spent a lot of time there. An hour, maybe, to check out what all the fuss was about (after all this was history hapening before our eyes, in a couple of years there will be a Loot Cave reference in Destiny 3 and we will all reminisce about the good old days). Still, now it's gone. No more funny memes I guess :<

Does the first moon mission grinding still work?

"We've woken the Hive!"

no, in fact they just made it so hard wipes lower the chance of engram drops. Probably because they are going to increase the drop rate on bosses and they don't want people dying to reset the encounter.

fuck it's not that big a deal. if you don't want the shader, the class items, the rare weapons, the legendary sniper, or the legendary armor for another character, then you shouldn't care about it. move on.
Ok, man, I love this game too, but now it seems like you're running defense here. Are you really satisfied with this change? They nerfed something great without adding any substitute back in, other than saying "soon." If I have to worry every day that I'll be less efficient with only vague promises of eventual reward, why the hell should I keep playing?

I am still going to play every once in a while this week, but why on earth would I want to do queens bounties when all of my characters have chests and helmets?

I'll believe AR nerfs when I see it. Map corridors are such short range that I can't see a scout being more viable than an AR/shotty even with nerfs

I'm disappointed they didn't address Matchmaking for Heroics and Nightfalls. If they're presumably going to let us finally talk in those missions there's no reason to keep us out of them.

Whoever made the decision deserves all the insults in the world.

Deej I demand a name so I can sacrifice him to the altar of His Holiness the Cryptarch.

No salt here. I'm having a laugh at Bungie sending a tone-deaf mixed message to their player base.

Yup.

"Hey, don't worry guys, we're listening to your feedback and we're going to fix the loot system in the game! Oh by the way, in the meantime, we're going to nerf every other viable option so you can sit there and twiddle your thumbs while we work to get it fixed in the next month."

They patched the loot cave AND no more ass shards from the Queen?!

So this means they finally slapped Rahool across the face and fixed the Engrams and loot system right? All is good then.

... :|

Yeah, I was actually surprised at people getting so upset about 200 headshots. Handcannons give more headshots than body shots.

This is the best thing I can say about Bungie as well. They're listening, and they acknowledge they have their work cut out for them.

Shit, they're already better than Bioware.

So now that loot cave is nerfed, what's a not-quite-level-21 supposed to do to get to level 21 and beyond?

level 21-24 is really more based around rare gear than legendary. queen's wrath wasn't 'necessary' for that hurdle at all. strike playlist is good for dropping rare gear and pvp is generally okay too.

level 24-27 htough... you're gonna need rep to be at least level 2 in something to buy the gear you need

This is the more important update.

TL;DR: Engrams are being fixed. Voice chat is being fixed.
Interesting...

He Who Shall Not Be Named
Long ago during development, the Cryptarch decoded engrams of a given color into gear of that same color. Early in 2014 we added randomness, both for better and worse, to the decrypting process. The result was that end-of-session engram decoding got a lot more exciting and the Cryptarch himself suddenly acquired a personality. Both of these experiences were positive additions to the game.

But we didn't adequately communicate the potential random outcomes of decryption. Players see what looks like the familiar metaphor of item identification, while the Cryptarch thinks he's opening a grab bag of loot. Rage sharding of blues ensues. Expect to see changes to address this soon.
