Echoing the sentiment of a handful here and on other places, being told we will be getting increased rewards for activities, a slight cryptarch overhaul, etc. is fucking awesome but it does sort of kill any desire to want to play, at least until those updates come to the game.
Why do things now when I could wait a month or two and not play a game that is going to give me blue balls for hours straight?
Don't get me wrong, I have fun just playing the game but after over 65 hours I do enjoy the odd reward every now and again and I feel like that is the ultimate goal of the game, so while I do have fun playing Crucible and hitting up Strikes with my bros, repeatedly being cockteased is a straight up bummer. I'm not even asking to be showered in legendaries, because faction farming can get you there, but there comes a point when there just aren't any reasons to do some of the activities in this game.
In other news I'm pretty happy to see them working on an opt-in voice chat system for matchmade activities. I don't see how just having opt-in voice chat cover all facets of the game would be a problem considering it is... well... opt-in. Some form of communication in the tower aside from dancing and pointing would be great. I suggested Mario Kart 8 style chat presets. Pull down a menu and pick from stuff like "Hi", "Want to join my fireteam?" "LFG nightfall/strike/whatever". It would be simple and it would still keep people from trolling. I don't know though, I'm not a game designer so maybe it wouldn't work.
All things aside I still enjoy this game a lot. Getting sweet loot is a good feeling and I still enjoy Crucible and the gunplay, but I'm learning that I am indeed not a masochist.
