Are they insane?

Long ago during development, the Cryptarch decoded engrams of a given color into gear of that same color. Early in 2014 we added randomness, both for better and worse, to the decrypting process. The result was that end-of-session engram decoding got a lot more exciting and the Cryptarch himself suddenly acquired a personality. Both of these experiences were positive additions to the game.

I'm never "excited" to decode a legendary engram because I only get fucking rares.

That's not what I said and you know it, and that's not what Bungie meant, and you know it.

Can you enlighten me then when Bungie meant when they said said "...we want Destiny to meet whatever mood you’re in. "?

It's one of two things-Bungie isn't clear on what they want the game to be, or they really meant that they wanted you to do whatever you want. And now they're removing those choices(Getting materials from Queens bounties), or making them worse(nerfing various spawn in various areas).

lol the sad thing for me is im a level 24 sooooo close to being lvl 25 and I still have no legendary or exotic items. Not one legendary drop aside from the ascendant shard I got and the engrams I get from the cryptarch leveling up ain't shit either. Ends up being some blue rare item that isn't as good as the shit I have now. Seeing dudes in this thread and even in the game with almost all legendary equipment is fucking disheartening man :(

I'm done with RNG in this game. 1/20 leg engrams actually producing a legendary piece. I guess I gotta go back to D3 UEE for my loot fix. Other than that, I gotta grind for that rep and grinding is definitely not as fun as I wish it could be.

I figured Fireteam would continue to act exactly how it does right now with full voice chat. This option would just be if the other randoms it adds in can hear and talk. I think that is what Bungie was suggesting by saying "Destiny's near-term solution will be to allow players to opt-in to voice communication during matchmade activities."

I'd just like to see Bungie make the decision that facilitates the most communication for this game that was designed to be social, while leaving everyone the freedom to decide just how much they want to interact with randoms.

Right, and I'm saying opt-in, opt-out, it doesn't matter much in the end. Just as long as I have a way of easily muting the match made population and I can play with friends without hassle. :)

you can easily get a legendary helmet and chest by doing the current event

Bungie needs to find another solution to loot caves instead of just changing the respawn times. This is a short term solution for a larger problem. The way that spawns work now people can just find other spawns and camp that. Honestly I am surprised they just did not go with the MMO strategy of reducing the drops for when you stay in an area and farm.

In terms of the Queen change, she is now useless for most characters. If you have legendaries you get nothing of value. I would almost argue that even if you need the legendary helm or chest piece it might be easier to just save up marks and buy the correct one that you want from a vendor.

Why aren't they talking about important fixes, like AUDIO OPTIONS?

Glad to see my Dr Nope is getting the nerf bat right after I finish fully upgrading it.

Getting to the point where logging in for the raid and weekly nightfall strike may be the only thing I'll do.

So for those wanting shards, the methods are:

Daily Public Events - Ascendant materials for first gold tier completion of the day and chance at additional materials each subsequent gold tier completion.
Daily/Weekly Nightfall/Heroic Strikes/Stories
Dismantle legendary/exotic gear
Purchase exotics from Xur and dismantle.
Raids

Anything else?

You know, I think this stuff could honestly be fixed by the Raid itself.

Right now, some people just get materials for loot from some of the raid encounters. What if the encounters dropped a higher amount of materials for everyone along with giving everyone raid-specific loot? That way, folks will have a method of upgrading raid items while not feeling so starved.

So, what's the best way to acquire ascendant stuff if I'm not high enough to run Nightfalls? Or, would it be better to find someone to backpack my level 26 titan?

edit: nvm

Not respecting Lt. Daniels?

That's a demerit.

I knew it was him! I just couldn't put my finger on his name.

1000x respect points for him! :D

They really should have at least included one of the upcoming positive changes in this patch. If today's notes would have included, "rewards for strikes and high difficulty missions have been increased" it would have saved a lot of face. All of this, soon, should, upcoming isn't good enough.

Make your game better with patches, don't just pull the rug out on a handful of exploits.

In WoW, we used to raid every week and sometimes get nothing. At lease their isnt DKP in Destiny.
Agreed. I wouldnt be able to handle that.

I'm glad there's a lot of games coming out this fall. Should lead me right up to the first DLC. Hope a lot of things are fixed in-between.

No offence but people farming a cave and lvling up wrong and than complaining now they have no reason to do the queens mission...

Oof.
That's not what I mean. They took crap away without increases in other areas.

haha yeah, audio options would definitely be welcome. shit's so basic and yet they have a tab for fucking subtitles

or behind a wall? I die so much getting hit by the freaking fist of havoc crap when I have no business to.

It's basically like a massive barrel. No matter how high you are, or behind cover, if you're within the danger zone, you're fucked. Unless you can blink outta there.

One good thing is that Titans who use it as panic button usually activate it no matter the distance between you and him. Leads to a wasted super and me laughing at his efforts.

Community Management 101, you don't patch out long standing exploits without buffing alternatives in the same hotfix. Bungie have no idea what they're doing.

You are hereby considered my favorite person of the day. Thank you.

I went home to pick up some relic irons on Mars during lunch and, after upgrading my exotic chest armor, hit level 27... now this??? Wow.

Everyone might be bitching about the death of the loot cave, but I'm doing juuuust fine today.

Material rewards for dismantling Queen's Wrath gear will no longer provide ascendant materials, but missions will continue to drop Legendary items

That's pretty shitty, as now getting 5 helms in a row is truly worthless instead of at least having some use. BUNGLE STATUS.

Oof.

How about the part of the patch which nerfs engram drop chances when you die either solo or all as a team? Does that effect everyone in every mission? Does that effect the raid?

If some random guy is trying to complete a missions and is dying a lot, according to the patch his chances of getting an engram is significantly dropped. How is that fair to the non-exploiters?

spend your glimmer on special and heavy ammo synthesis, and keep 16k saved for blue fusion rifles if you don't have Pocket Infinity yet. They did mention improving engram drops for completing activities.

Which is why I think they should have went after this first instead of the other things.

Echoing the sentiment of a handful here and on other places, being told we will be getting increased rewards for activities, a slight cryptarch overhaul, etc. is fucking awesome but it does sort of kill any desire to want to play, at least until those updates come to the game.

Why do things now when I could wait a month or two and not play a game that is going to give me blue balls for hours straight?

Don't get me wrong, I have fun just playing the game but after over 65 hours I do enjoy the odd reward every now and again and I feel like that is the ultimate goal of the game, so while I do have fun playing Crucible and hitting up Strikes with my bros, repeatedly being cockteased is a straight up bummer. I'm not even asking to be showered in legendaries, because faction farming can get you there, but there comes a point when there just aren't any reasons to do some of the activities in this game.

In other news I'm pretty happy to see them working on an opt-in voice chat system for matchmade activities. I don't see how just having opt-in voice chat cover all facets of the game would be a problem considering it is... well... opt-in. Some form of communication in the tower aside from dancing and pointing would be great. I suggested Mario Kart 8 style chat presets. Pull down a menu and pick from stuff like "Hi", "Want to join my fireteam?" "LFG nightfall/strike/whatever". It would be simple and it would still keep people from trolling. I don't know though, I'm not a game designer so maybe it wouldn't work.

All things aside I still enjoy this game a lot. Getting sweet loot is a good feeling and I still enjoy Crucible and the gunplay, but I'm learning that I am indeed not a masochist.

Do a raid for 5hrs and get a shader and a little materials. Seems legit.

I didn't even full clear the raid yet and I got two weapons and enough shards to upgrade my Exotic chest piece twice.

Beyond that the Raid itself is incredibly fun. Standing in front of a cave, shooting low level mobs for hours just so you can depend on the RNG that you already don't like is neither fun nor intended and everyone KNEW it wasn't intended.

The reality is people want as much reward for as little work as possible. This has been proven time and time again tons of games. That's all well and good but complaining when the Devs patch out aspects of the game that they never intended is silly.

Just thinking about decrypting all those purple shitgrams that gave me blues and greens annoys the shit out of me. If I was a hoarding weirdo I could be reaping that shit in whenever Bungie deems worthy for the upcoming loot patch to drop.

Whose bright idea was it to make the purples have a higher chance to roll blue items in the first place? I can't even comprehend the reasoning for that. It already has a much lower chance to drop compared to the blue engrams but there's a more than likely chance that it'll be an item of the same quality? On top of that, they announce the fact that you picked up a purple to everyone else in the same game as you are, as if it's some sort of achievement... only to get a blue item.

What the hell is that.
