Be nice, stay civil, and have fun!

Disagree !!!
Warlock, Sunsinger is the best one !

It's a suggestion for the OT6 :)

I admit that is fun :

The Hive of the holy “Treasure Cave” have realized the futility of their endless assault on Skywatch and have retired to lick their wounds and plan their next attack.

So if we have a set of Vanguard armor, and the Queens gear won't dismantle into shards, then what's the point of doing the Queens bounty?

future items might be desirable so getting reputation up is one, unique items are another. Bungie needs to increase the storage size for that though

I gave loot cave a week, it took three days from then. Shoulda taken the under.

I've enjoyed strikes but generally hated the bosses, due to how grindy they are. So I hope the damage fix is a substantial one. Bosses should be a burst of challenge, not a sustained exercise in patience. Glad to see the voice communication issues being addressed in some way as well. It REALLY needs it in the Tower, though.

Overall good patch notes and I'm impressed with the pace; this is the second hotfix this week. Hopefully it keeps up.

Not addressed is their selective matchmaking choices, but hopefully that gets some discussion later on.

What's awesome is that, for part 2 of my Destiny writeup, I talk about the bosses and how they have twice as much or a quarter more health than they need.

I'll be putting that part up this weekend.

So anyway, I have a seasonal wizard who's at the beginning of Act 5 in the late 50s. Anyone want to join me later on? I can take on Torment 1 and 2.

It's that time.

So I got a golden bounty for the first time. Had to finish a strike without dying for five times, did that. Now I have to kill 25 enemys and not die on the crucible or something. today I looked up online what the end reward is... a shotgun. I wanted an auto rifle. :(

Can anyone think of a way to get 4 strange coins? I've beaten the weekly already. I'm at 19, and it costs 23 to get a primary weapon, so if he shows up with a Suros Regime and I'm short I'm going to lose my shit.

Don't come with just problems, come with solutions. What's your solution? Triple the amount of content in 3 weeks with a hotfix?
The best way to get coins is now gone. You can pretty much only get them reliably outside of the Weekly Heroic through Engrams.

Solution: Endgame content gives you a barter item, one per boss, per week. You can buy Shards/Energy/Raid gear with them (even if it costs multiple coins, or limits you to a single piece per week, this would be fine). Almost EVERY OTHER MMO that I've played uses some kind of barter system for endgame gear, because RNG does nothing but frustrate people into quitting - which is exactly what Bungie have done with this patch. The only way to get to 30 is now 100% through RNG. Get your gambling shades on, boys.

Kind of shitty for Bungie to patch a bunch of "exploits" and then only give some vague statements about fixing the things that drove people to those exploits "later."
Extremely shitty. Will be interesting to see how many people quit out of frustration now that the only path to progression is completely luck based.

Those Legendary engrams better be decrypting fucking purples now.
Ah, but the catch is, they won't. Because the Cryptarch is the same as he is now. I would recommend keeping purple engrams until Bungie fixes this.

This is moving fast!!!

Real quick. What is the point of rubbing the Queens bounty now?
If I can't break down the gear I get what else can I earn???

And what else can I do to earn escendant shards to upgrade my armour?
This is an honest question. I don't really know what I am suposed to do. Kinda lucked into getting shards last night when I broke down gear from Queens Wrath
There is no way to get shards outside of getting "lucky" and getting a duplicate purple armor piece that you can deconstruct, or getting them (randomly) from your first five-ten public events (account wide) per week, or getting them (randomly) from the daily and weekly heroics/Nightfall.

Have you done the raid?

Have you received Ascendant Energy for every single drop except one?

Good luck getting to level 30 - I hope you're good at prayer, because now leveling to cap is 100% luck-based. No reliable way to get shards means it could take unlucky players MONTHS before they hit 30. Have fun!!!

This isn't entirely true, the daily heroic on 28 drops 2 materials everyday. It should be noted that it took that one twitch streamer "Streamerhouse" 7 clears of VoG to even get the gear that allowed them hit 30. If you are on top on doing the daily heroic, even if you have only 1 character the mats shouldn't be to far behind by the time you actually have the gear if you factor in sharded gear from your weekly vanguard/cruicible marks, nightfall and world drops.

Sorry, what? They're not being shit on for admitting they messed up. They're being shit on for messing up. The MMO thing isn't new and they're, technically, in competition with people who've been around for awhile and have already learned how to do things. In other words, they could've looked at other games and learned this.

Why are you twisting it?

I'll quote myself, but I agree with you-
And when Blizzard did the same thing, they praised them for it. Hmmm. Maybe it's the way they said it? Bungie at the most gave vague answers- "We're not going to tell you HOW or WHEN we're going to fix engram decryption.". Like I mentioned before-They weren't clear on how many things there would be in the game when it released. They certainly aren't being clear here.

Blizzard avoided the shit talk by being clear on exactly what they were doing post Diablo 3 release and pre RoS release. They're doing the same with WoD. Blizzard has done this song and dance before, they know exactly what to say and how to say it. Bungie doesn't. They're not conveying a clear message.

I don't mind the farming patches as I never spent much time on those and didn't get anything useful.

The patch to remove shards for dismantling queen's gear is a bit annoying. I still need legendaries so I'll try and do some. But it will be harder to get higher level friends to help now.

I'm not trying to. Didn't mean to imply redoing story missions. In my experience I have had the engrams drop and it has yielded some results for me. Did a strike the other night and got a hand cannon from an engram. Crucible can be a cruel beast and demoralizing at times, but you know, that's Destiny.

If you're talking about engrams, the guy should just mow through whatever low level story throws the most mobs at you. Strikes 20+ take like 30 or 40 minutes and have no increase in Engram drops Vs. whatever level 5 story mission. Strike completion rewards are only lvl 18-20 Rares in my experience, making them an utter waste of time. Grinding patrols are 10x more efficient for rank points and public events are 10x more efficient for marks.

fucking hell

First off, I sympathize with everyone who's getting pissed about the shard drops from the Queen's Wrath. I don't agree that you should be getting pissed about it, because basically nothing having to do with a videogame is worth that, but no doubt that was a sweet ass ascendant shard farm and it blows chunks that it's gone.

but oh well. this kind of reaction to anything a developer does, regardless of who it is, what it is, or what game it's for, isn't particularly cute anymore. on the whole, I am thrilled by the contents of these patch notes. almost every single word matches up with my understanding of the game's intended vision. here are my highlights

All of this is very good for the game.

Fucking hell, again.

There are a lot of people out there reading this right now who know that I am talking especially to them when I say the following: Destiny obviously has a long and bright future ahead of it. Keep playing for fun. Take breaks when you feel like it. These are the earliest days of a game we'll be playing for a very long time, probably years. These things will be true regardless of how much hysterical outrage surrounds it.

For now, I am bailing the fuck out of here. This is a mess. I'm an active part of this community not because I love Bungie oh so much and think they can do no wrong and think Destiny is perfect and get butthurt when people criticize my favoritest thing, but simply because I like being a part of a community for a game like this. I like having people to discuss things with when we can't be playing, exchange tips and strategies and information we all may have missed.

I want my presence on neogaf to help people get the most out of this game and purely from a functional perspective that's impossible right now. I'll resume posting when the requisite of "get over it" has happened and things have calmed down. If you notice someone asking for help that can't be completely answered by my guides please have them PM me or send me a message on PSN (hawkian there too).

People that are complaining just don't understand how this game works. Bear with me. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason to go past level 28 unless you plan to do hard mode raid. Level 28 can get had with 28 ascendant shards, 3 mark armors, and 1 exotic from Xur. This can be done in 2 weeks. Hell, the only reason to go from 26 to 28 is the lvl 28 daily / nightfall / and heroic weekly.

The real problem is the loot is boring crapola. There is no reason to grind for anything because its all the same. Nothing does anything. In Diablo theres reasons to try to get perfect rolled items, complete sets, etc. There is zero meaningful difference between anyone level 28-30 doing any content as they all have the same tier of gear. When people hit level 28 they are ALL going to quit because there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LEFT to do after this except hard mode raid. There is no upgrade you can get outside of it, nothing you can buy with marks/rep/coins/motes. Game is 100% over. They removed the queen breakdowns because literally everyone was going to hit this point in 2 more days if they left it in and there is no content they have available for those players. This extends that deadline a week or two max, but the same problem is there regardless.

I don't know...I'd like to get all/most of the exotic weapons eventually, which will take a lot of time. I'm also a pretty die-hard PvP player so I'd just be playing the crap out of the crucible even if there wasn't a single carrot left in the game after 10 hours, besides the personal satisfaction of (hopefully) seeing my stats improve.

I'm really confused about how Bungie wants players to be playing the game, and I'm someone who never shot into the cave. I just got to level 26 and have all legendary gear (two from Queen's Wrath and two from FWC) and now I'm at a point where leveling any more means upgrading my current gear or getting exotics. This requires having 16 of a specific resource per level of gear and ascendant shards for higher levels. Getting said resources amounts to doing chest runs until I can level. This is not fun, and I know Bungie doesn't want me doing this, but I do not understand how else they think I'd be getting these resources. Did they really expect players would be doing story missions so many times that they'd be collecting 50 fucking spinmetal/spirit blooms/whatever per legendary item? That's absurd. And then you need to get ascendant shards, which you can't even get reliably or easily. I understand that Bungie doesn't want people grinding their way to level 30, but as it is now you would have to be playing the same story missions and public events for a year to level up the natural way. of course, if you're replaying all of this content for that long then you're most likely just doing it to level, which means that the person who plays the same shit over and over again for months just to level up legitimately does not exist.

great. hit crucible lvl 3 couple minutes ago and thought about getting a new AR for 150 marks. But after reading about nerfing the AR, i don't know what to purchase. now what?

I think the main issue with loot is the fact that you can play for hours and hours and hours and not get anywhere in terms of progression. And considering a hell of a lot of the game is based around getting better weapons, cooler armour, higher levels, it becomes a problem. The game itself is incredibly fun, which is why most people who have a serious issue with the progression issues still play anyway.

The problem is the fact that 'fixing' the way drops work would likely make everyone max level and best gear in a week, which isn't a good thing for a game intended to keep you coming back. So at the minute, it's either piss people off who get tired of the RNG loot, or make people bored quickly with everything getting maxed out.

I think what they need to do to make it a heck of a lot more fun is to first add a lot more variety to the catalogue: more weapons, more armour that people want. If anything, I think skins (but not through microtransactions) would be cool. At some point, you get the highest stats you can, but your gear might look lackluster. Having skins would allow people to keep working for gear for their appearance. But you would indeed need a lot more variety.

On top of that, I think they would also then need to make things a little less RNG and add more avenues to work for stuff. I don't mean the Queen thing, where you do a quick bounty and you get a guaranteed drop but.. give high level strike bosses some reasonable loot tables. Let me know that if I work my ass off to kill the boss, I have a chance at the super cool new drop. That way, people can grind with a decent goal. And maybe add more things along the lines of exotic bounties, where people have to complete various challenges to earn stuff. Then people do actually have a story to tell on their items. "Where did I get this awesome wolf-esque helmet for my Hunter? I had to complete the nightfall strike without dying solo." "Woah!"

Idk.

This isn't entirely true, the daily heroic on 28 drops 2 materials everyday. Ok, I'm pissed confused now. 7 clears? The raid gives loot on a weekly basis, therefore it's impossible to get gear at that rate unless the guy has alts. The raid just came out.

Is that's what he's doing?

Yeah, everyone saying this is all luck based now is being ridiculous. USE THE SYSTEMS IN PLACE. Marks are guaranteed gear, damn.

Once you get all legendaries and exotics, you're back to playing the RNG for shards. Unless you buy legendaries just to dismantle them, which considering how many you need and how many the game gives out, is just stupid.

Funny enough I'll probably still play today for a bit to level up my scout with bountie and do one public event. After that I'm probably done for the day unless somebody specifically wants to play with me.

Is this you saying you desperately want another invitation from me?

Mr. Famicom, Admiral Puppy, help me get six more strange coins!

I'm really REALLY tempted to trade this game in. I'll wait another month and see where its at.

I dont like the way Bungie is stretching everything out. It's not our fault that it really is a small game trying to be big.

Have you done the raid?

Have you received Ascendant Energy for every single drop except one?

No, it will take a really long time to get to 30 until they want everyone to get to 30 and will institute new mechanics to foster this progression.

That's the purpose of the Queen's Wrath stuff, to make it easier for 24s to get to raid level.

I think people who blazed through this game, and I've said this a lot in every OT, are going to find a very big wall blocking their progression, because during design, Bungie clearly didn't realize what an incredibly engaging and fun game they had created and that people would be so unable to stop playing it.

Nah just a comment in general if the people I regularly play with want to play, you being one of them of course. But I also play quite a lot with my group of Besties

Opt-in voice chat is HUGE news to me. Thanks Bungie! That'll make team work in 3v3 a lot easier, hopefully. And most people I randomly meet through PvP have been really cool, too.

Jarek. Also, the J is pronounced as a Y.

Dammit bungie, I feel like running through the raid again, but without reward it's making it difficult to care. Anyway, thanks.

I'll remember that! But I still think the raid rewards fine, even if on a weekly basis. Then again, I have gotten kinda lucky with my drops.

Fair enough. I recently started doing patrols as I'm so close to 26 but can't get gear. Hoping to hit atleast Vanguard 2 by end of tomorrow when I finally get a chance to play some. It sucks only getting to play every so often. Damn you life, you cruel beast.

So anyway, I have a seasonal wizard who's at the beginning of Act 5 in the late 50s. Anyone want to join me later on? I can take on Torment 1 and 2.

It's that time.

I was thinking I might need to log back in at least get the legendaries out of my mail...I still need thunder fury to go to Torment 6...but that won't happen.

What does RNG mean?

Lost soul...I have a friend you need to meet, his name is RNGesus... (Random Number Generator)

Have you done the raid?

Leveling to cap was always 100% luck based.

They're not, but you can't get to level 30 with them. Maxing out a full set of purples get you 100 light, which means you cap out at level 28.

Good luck getting enough shards to do even that, now.

I'm saying if you are that far into progression you can buy 6 65 mark pieces to dismantle every 2 weeks on top of whatever you dismantle from drops. That's 12-18 shards every 2 weeks; upgrading each slot fully takes either 16 or 18 marks per slot. It's unlikely anyone would require "months" to cap out 3 pieces of raid gear already because their sources of loot will extend well beyond what you could buy with marks anyway.

Oh shit, Bad Juju is getting a buff? Might keep going for that bounty after all.
