It's also random. I was lucky enough to get after my first run, but it definitely sucks that it's random.
The issue currently is that auto rifles can beat out pulse rifles and scout rifles at medium/long to long ranges, which should not be their territory, and something I completely agree with. Bungie likely will tweak their damage drop off at longer ranges to balance the primary weapons.
But keep in mind where most of your auto rifle engagements have been when you play PvP -- most of them are close/medium to medium range, it really shouldn't affect them much in their the medium ranges, they'll still be dominant there.
Yeah, we were jealous of him, that is a lot of coins. You can also get something like 12 Energy or Shards. I got 12 Energy my first Nightfall.
I find Burning Shrine a bit claustrophobic and one note... Everything looks the same. One of my least favorite maps actually.
It just means they can't aim for shit and need "Spray & Pray" in order to get any kills. Just shoot them to fucking head and it will go clean off even with slower firing AR and you will win Shingens and Galahads in 1on1 battles.
Can aim and shoot to head? You are fine with slower firing AR.
Can't? Take fast firing AR and "Spray & Pray" basically.

Pray to RNGesus and play the heck out of Crucible. My cousin just got a Strange Coin in a match we had earlier.
The only way would be to do the lvl 28 weekly heroic strike for 9 and then farm for blue and purple engrams and hope they decrypt into strange coins. Or play PVP and hope you're rewarded with strange coins.

So can i get ascendant shards from dismantling legendary class items? I might buy these warlock bonds for marks, just to dismantle them lol

Woo baby just got this. Two upgrades this week, which will nearly top me out. Which also means closer to putting this game to rest.
Yea, I was freaking yesterday about it but most maps are not that big anyway. Once the nerf is live, I'll just need to camp more in the Bastion/Moon maps. Don't like those maps that much anyway so why bother running to anyone.

You can absolutely do it again, but if you want to be rewarded for it you have to wait.
Level up a 2nd characters and do the weekly for 9 strange coins twice.
It may take a while to level up a second character but from what I hear it's 100% worth having one.

All non RNG related progress in Destiny is gated by timers, Unfortunately The Raid is Both RNG & Timer based.
so waiting is your option.
I always aim for the head and consistently get headshots. But slower FR always loses out to faster FR if they aim for head too. Slightly more dmg does jack against guys with equal skill.
It does matter. It does the same damage as the slow firing Ar and but fires faster with no recoil.
I reaaaaally want to. But I'm not going to.

I agree with all of this, and thanks for reading. Especially the psychological effects of farming engrams because of what we're all accustomed to. People are already using the next engram farm despite continuing to decry the RNG!
The way I'd have done it with the factions/vanguard/crucible is like when you hit 18 (and can start earning marks) you get a choice of special bounties- like the exotic bounty selector. The bounty would have simple instructions along the lines of "Begin earning Reputation for your chosen Faction" and allow you to pick Vanguard or Crucible and have a simple bounty that rewarded about half a rank, thus communicating the "Rep to progress" thing a little more intuitively.

You're a rational human in a thread filled with passionate, emotional people making posts out of frustration. I admire your perseverance to make this thread into a community of people who understand, appreciate and want to continue playing the game until they individually burn out on its mechanics. For me, complaining about a game is the easy part; making suggestions for rational, well thought out changes to a game is much more difficult. In life it's always easier to tear down something than it is to build it up into something better.
I feel like Bungie over the course of that last two and a half weeks has improved the game and is working on balancing known issues. They are listening to the people playing the game. In my opinion, the people who are complaining should offer suggestions to Bungie here and on their forum instead of just complaining about the game. It's a much more healthy and assertive way to improve our community. One thing is for sure though, they are a bunch of jerks for not patching in spacebeards yet, but at least they are listening to the community.
I almost feel like the lack of spacebeards is a conspiracy by some of the lack beards at Bungie, but then again I visit Colorado at least several times a month and might be a touch paranoid
