Patch Notes for 1.0.2 look like a good first step in the right direction. Glad to see they are getting the low hanging fruit now. One line in there, however, is a bit unclear to me.

Ascendant materials have been promoted to Legendary to closer associate them with the gear they are used to upgrade

What does that mean exactly? Are Ascendant Materials going to become even harder to come by since they are now "Legendary"?

Just means they color them purple now.

You'll need to do Daily Heroic missions/Nightfall/Strike Playlists to get them.

Thunderlord is amazing. Several times now when heavy weapon ammo has spawned I havent died again in the round. Just camp the heavy ammo location.

More damage when aiming, can be shot accurately on full auto to chain headshots easily even at a distance, gets dmg boost from bottom half of mag.

people throwing it in the bushes after the reduced RoF upgrade show that most don't even know what makes the weapon worth having in the first place

the same people spraying that CoD:MW2 ACR AKA Shingen-E are going to keep doing so.

its not a world changer by any means

Lvl 26 Hunter here, with gear as follows:
- 3 Legendary armor pieces (Helm/Chest/Gauntlets)
- Rare primary/heavy, exotic secondary (Ice Breaker).

Am I better off at this point buying the Knucklehead Radar from Xur to rank up, or the Suros Regime to use as my exotic over Ice Breaker?

I already gambled on the engram, which of course was a Warlock helmet. ;_;
Third times a charm, anybody? I'd prefer to get the helm, but feel like I'd be an idiot to pass on the Suros...

HOLY CRAP I GOT A LEGENDARY SCOUT RIFLE FROM A BLUE ENGRAM

GUYS LOOK WHAT I GOT

LOOK

This is the one I fully leveled up today. With the staggering bullets it has become a favorite of mine.

I'm sure this has been asked many times, but looking for advice. Weekly strikes are finished and I still need 3 strange coins. How would I best go about this?

I don't think it sucks in PvP. I think it's probably the best gun in the game for PvP. But only unupgraded.

It's why focus fire should really be a toggle, but apparently Bungie feels a slower rate of fire with higher impact is something everyone would want.

Slower rate of fire = managing your shots better, being able to control your aim better for headshots

Higher impact = improved TtK (Time to Kill)

Ok I think it's not so good as im thinking the slower RoF is affecting my DPS quite a bit though... I mean a guy who doesn't have the upgrade unlocked can has a rate of fire almost 2x than me when I ADS.

The other guy would be spraying and praying, you should be aiming for the head in the mean time since it'll be easier for you. Can't tell ya how many times I've beaten Shingen, Galahad, Painted Suros and Silvered Hushwind users head to head with the Regime.

Slow is actually a benefit because u can handle multiple enemies at a time because ur not burning through ur ammo and having to reload. I think the dmg is significant enough to where if ur start shooting at me first and then i start shooting u, i can win the engagement.

I really disagree, there's a big difference to me just between the Galahad and the Shingen, and the Suros with that mod is much slower than the Galahad.

go do strike playlist. I find they do drop there for rewards but your luck getting them will depend on how much rngesus hates yhou.

I seek advice from the great GAF:

1) Have exotic helm, spend moteson exotic helm engram for the motes!? Don't know!

2) I need one strange coin to finish my bad juju which is due for a buff soon! What do you folks recommend for someone that has done all difficulties of the weekly and the nightfall as my best chance of getting a strange coin now that the cave of wonders is gone? Is there evidence chests have a higher drop rate for coins than strikes/crucible?

*edit.. just noticed someone asked the same thing...

For some reason, I don't want to buy the Suros regime on the off chance that The Last Word or Hawkmoon end up in Xur's shop. Or some must-have armor. How do you guys feel about it?

I was testing with a gaffer against a devil walker... He was doing about 85 damage per shot and I was doing about 125.

I do guess it takes a bit of practice to handle though. I mean I usally use the Galahad which is slower RoF than the other three but the Suros takes the cake here....

Just got the Exotic Bounty for Pocket Infinity. hnnnnggg, how hard is it to do? I already have 2 rare Fusion rifles I can dismantle.

Got bottom-paged, so I'll ask again:

So do these carry more ammo effects stack? Like if I equip 2 pieces of armor which both say "Carry more ammo for Hand Cannon" do I get to carry even more ammo than if I only have 1 piece equipped with this effect?

I completely agree with you. I would kick myself so hard if next week he had one of those and I didn't have enough coins. Plus I don't really like the firing slower mod.

Getting headshots with the Suros is easy even before the upgrade even at range, at least for me. I had another gun early like the Suros that was great but had and option for more damage/slower RoF too, and soon as I clicked the option the gun became garbage to me, and I supsect the same is going to happen as soon as I upgrade the Suros. If you're hitting headshots regardless then theoretical time to kill with the "upgrade" seems alot longer imo, but as far as PvE goes the gun seems like it'll be pretty beastly, so I'm still gonna upgrade it.

I need five strange coins by the end of the weekend. Whats the best way ?

Outside of weekly strikes there is no single best way as everything would be up to RNGesus. You can either get them as a reward from a public event, most likely your first of the day, or pray you get them from an engram/random chest. For 5 of them though you'd need to do weekly strikes, nobody's luck is so good.

Do you notice a difference with the staggering bullets?

I'd need to test it further, but with the placebo effect I'm under it does feel like enemies are getting staggered more, and not just by headshots.

Are any of the weapon evolutions such as Ammo Piercing Rounds or the like viable in PvP, or are those types of upgrades only for PvE?

I doubt he'll ever carry the Hawkmoon since its one of the PS exclusives and all stocks are shared between platforms.

Given the stuff going on with strange coin questions since they seem popular. I'll ask my chest question this way, for those of you who chest farm post patch do you find your strange coin haul to be similar to what you'd get in strike or crucible for the same amount of time?

I'll have to see but lower RoF also causes a decreased Ttk.

and I never had much of a problem aiming for the head with the Shingen too. The aim and stability on that thing is crazy and with a higher RoF there's less penalty for missing but you rarely miss the head with the thing.

I'll do more testing on the Suros vs Shingen I guess since everyone is saying the former is still amazing for PvP.

I'm assuming with this comes us also seeing less legendary engrams which I'm fine with. At least we won't feel letdown when we do have them from here on out. I really am starting to see how this game could need more variations of loot though.

Any chance you can explain that attack? I saw an image for that Suros AR saying 500 attack when the item is 300 max. Confusion followed shortly after.

Well I found this image from the alpha, I couldn't find a bigger image of the actual one in the game. I'd need to upload an image and give impressions. Over-all though as expected it takes longer to kill than a handcannon, but this has more bullets and faster reload, not to mention longer range.

Hey yo wanna weekly strike at 28 bruh?

DY, you use a hand cannon on the regular, right? Would you still prefer sticking with a high impact one (drops in 3-4 shots). I figure all these people in love with the regime can't pop enough shots off on someone with good aim if it drops in a couple headshots.

I feel like in a 1v1 I can still beat out regime owners with my painted chief. Extended clip means I don't have to reload if I anticipate another encounter either.
