Destiny |OT5| New patch out Tues., Master Rahool reportedly crying into his robes

It's actually pretty easy once you have it down huh? I'm currently building up alts so I can do 3 runs of it a week, should be kitted out by the reset. Honestly I think with an organized team at level 30 and a bit of practice at the stealth and jumping sections, which are pretty straight forward too, doing it without a death shouldn't be THAT hard.

I absolutely agree. I can see how people can get the flawless raider trophy this early in the game's life. However, as you say, it'll take practice.

Also, that's a good idea to level alts. Are you making them the same class as your main or are you making all three classes? Also, got any tips for hitting 20 asap?

How's the Epitaph 2261 sniper? Turned in blue engram and got it. Seems to have little impact but it has void damage so it already replaced by previous blue fusion rifle with void

Re-posting this since I don't think anyone answered the first time:

I have a question and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere online.

If I already beat the raid and obtained all the loot on normal mode, can I play hard mode and get more loot in a single week or does the loot lockout apply for both difficulties?

Man, is there any reasonable way to fucking level up my Vanguard rank? Started today at Level 1 and just played for 7 hours, doing bounties/patrols and a strike. I'm now 480/2000 to Level 2. Are you fucking joking? I need to play for 20-30 hours more just to get up to rank 2 so I can buy the boots I want?

PLEASE tell me I'm just doing this wrong and there's a quicker method. Was hoping to get it done today.
Bounties are the key. I always pick the ones that can be done quickly and burn through them while also completing patrols. Your problem is probably that you ran out of bounties to do. It did not take me that long to go from 1 to 2.

I'm half way through level 29. Can I hit level 30 with 2 pieces of raid gear, 1 exotic and a normal 27 light legendary?

No, you need 3 pieces of raid legendary gear. You need 120 light for level 30, with maxed non-raid pieces + 1 exotic you're at 111 and each raid legendary gives 3 extra light over a non-raid piece.

For anyone with the patience, I have a few questions about vanguard marks and rep.

1. There is a weekly "cap" of 100 marks. Is this a cap on earning or a cap on how many you can hold at anyone time? For example, can I gain 100 and then spend them and gain 100 more in the span of a week?

2. If it is a cap on earning, what happens the next week. If I have 100 marks, do I need to spend them the next week or does the cap accumulate?

3. What is the most efficient way to spend marks? Should I focus on armour first (chest and boots and then gloves?) or should I get a weapon first?

If it matters, I have a level 24 warlock. I'm pretty slow at playing this game, so with 20 hours in I'm only vanguard rank 1 and have 50 marks. http://www.bungie.net/en/Legend/2/4611686018435826895/2305843009221111273#gear

thanks

Holy shit, my power went out like 5 mins after I soloed the nightfall strike. I can't imagine the sadness that would've occurred had I started the strike just a tad later.

The cap is on earning per week- that's the "ring" around vanguard/crucible on your map. resets tuesday.

Max cap is 200. Spend 'em like they're hot

armor. armoarmorarmoarmoarmor. you want LIIIIGHT, and weapons never have light.
Checking the players in the tower and see a random gaffer named hawkian. I don't even know how to join the destiny clan.
o_o hi

So damn lol. Got a legendary sniper with void in blue engram, turned in my bounties and got exotic bounty chance, the same three as last time so this time I chose Invective so I can get that as well. After finishing that bounty I'd have 3 exotic weapons at my disposal: thorn, the last word, and Invective. My luck has really been turning around recently. Ever since I bought my exotic helmet.

What's the general consensus on Doctor Nope? Good AR, of shard material?

I have it and am trying to upgrade it to increase stability. It shreds but has a lot of recoil. Want to see it fully upgraded... It's the reason I'm passing on the suros.

When I saw the fire rate of the Suros Regime in a video, I decided to buy the Doctor Nope instead. I like it except for the recoil. There's an upgrade that nearly doubles the stability though, so I'm hoping that makes it more usable.

I've made one of each class so no drops go to waste, plus I had exotics and legendary gear ready for both the remaining classes before I started.

As for storming to twenty unfortunately they took out an early step I used. But what I did was rush the earth missions then hit up patrol and shoot the cave for 5 minutes. By then you had all your main abilities and could hit up PvP if you get bored, but otherwise rush through all story missions skipping to each checkpoint and fighting only what you need.

The huge xp payout at the end of missions is a major help, but after a certain point you begin getting a bounty for each mission you beat meaning you can have a whole lot more than the typical 12 bounties a day. Manage those and the story missions so you always have some bounties you're working on but room to take on more and you can hit 17 in 6 hours as you finish up on Mars.

It's not the most elegant strategy but it does work fast if you have a few hours to put in on a single day. Each class was at 20 in a day each for me this way. On my last class I skipped the cave and just headed straight to the crucible instead before rushing the story/bounties and that titan was at 20 in only 5 and a half hours.

The real grind is getting those crucible ranks back though.

The cap is how many you can earn for the weekly Vanguard strikes.

You'll can earn another 100 marks after the reset. It can accumulate.

3. What is the most efficient way to spend marks? Should I focus on armour first (chest and boots and then gloves?) or should I get a weapon first?
Armor personally unless you just so happen to have Rank 3 Vanguard and 150 marks.

Max cap is 200. Spend 'em like they're hot
What? Damn. Never knew.

Still looking for a raid team.... :( fixed didn't reply to my FR. Someone please. Lvl 28 warlock. Psn: lunlunqq.

I saw the notification, but couldn't accept anything. It won't let me send one either. Sorry wasn't trying to ignore you.

There's not much point trying to put together anything that means adding new friends right now. Not sure what to do now.

Thanks very much! Your guides in the OP are great, btw.

1. You can hold more than 100, an helmet costs 125 iirc

2. Dunno whats the max you can hold, but it accumulates and your marks dosen't disappear.

3. Imo it's better to spend the marks on gear first, with better gear you can do the harder missions, but weapons will be useless if you're on a much lower level than the enemies. Also gear requires rank 2 while weapons requires rank 3.

LGuys I've been basically using the same weapons as when I finished the game. I'm only vanguard level 1, is there anything I can do to get a better auto rifle or pulse rifle?

I'm lvl 27.

Armor has been fine to get but weapons have not.

Any advice?

I wouldn't even worry about it. Level 28, and I have a couple of Legendary weapons, but I'm flipping back to blues all of the time due to the varying elemental shields and modifiers on the harder strikes. A lot of the time I even forget to throw my un-upgraded Legendary/Exotic stuff in the slot before turning in bounties. They'll come in time through drops, heroic strikes, buying stuff from Xur. I still can't buy Legendary from Vanguard or factions, but it really doesn't matter at this point since I have what I need to do a raid and I'm shooting for the raid gear.

Since your 27, I assume you're good on armor? That's what seems to really count.

Level 22 titan here, up for anything but I really need to get Queens wrath done. Feel free to add me:

Psn: bulletsmoke
If you're PS4, I'd be open to doing them with you. PSN: Kopyasu.

I'll be on in 2 minutes if you're still available.

Edit: Why is PSN shit right now... Gonna have to do this impromptu.

Level Vanguard to 3? I think biggest mistake people made is chose to get faction rep before getting Vanguard Rep first to at least level 3. When you hit level 3, you are guaranteed to receive 1 legendary weapon, after that with each level they send you gifts, having high chance for legendary weapon. I am level 6 with them right now, since level 3 I got 2 weapons and 1 piece of armor in my mail, rest were upgrade mats.

Ok thank you

Aw yeah 28.

Many thanks to everyone who answered my questions. Its much clearer now.

Er, two more questions. Sorry to abuse everyone's generosity.

1. Class items from one of the three factions earns you rep for the faction when in the crucible, right?

2. What about a class item from your respective vanguard? If I wear a warlock bond from the warlock vanguard, in the crucible, do I earn vanguard rep?

Yes, they do.
Huh. I'm cool with that in Control, because it's fun to have one gametype devoted to a slayer / objective mix. But I want at least one pure objective gametype.

Oh well, it's still fun as hell. I wish Salvage was always available.

Do Nightfall on lvl 28, gives 500 rep afaik, plus bonus XP/reps throughout the week until it resets again on tuesday.

Just got together with some ransoms and tried out the Raid for the first time. That crap is hard, but super fun. Unfortunately, I have to go to work before we can finish the first boss...
