Maybe it's me, but this looks slower than just normal farming and requires an unknown amount of prep time to get started.
Thought it would be nice with a small faq for Destiny, so I made this. Feel free to add more questions.

- How do I get an exotic bounty?

You missed "Where is Xur?"
Weapons of Light is pretty crazy, we were constantly hitting the enrage on Aethon during the raid until we decided to run weapons of light, absolutely melted him in no time. That plus the Oracle damage buff stacked quite nicely. Regular scout rifle shots were hitting for 1.6k

You guys would have noticed if the Patch was out considering you need to download an update for it.

Yup, so we have everyone get buffed by Weapons of Light (w/ the Illuminated perk that buffs the talent) and then steps out and all fire their heavy weapons at him; he'll be dead quick I'd think. If everyone has an Arc rocket launcher, maybe instantly, haha.
I really think we got this in the bag tonight, just have to play careful. I'm out of booze too so that will help.

I had the idea of using the player emblems as lfg flags. That way when you check your friends list you could easily see who's looking for what. Of course the problem is getting everyone to agree on which emblems to use.

Actually, they are. There's a 5 minute window at the end of each timer, and it's possible the event just never shows up at all. It's considerably *less* random than the rest of the game, but it's still random.

I don't have an Arc rocket launcher but Thunderlord even without any upgrades and very shaky attempts at headshots, was tearing him up. Gotta make sure to try this. Actually I might have just inspired myself to actually level up a Defender this weekend.

Finally did a part of the raid last night (before reset) with another gaffer and some randoms he found. Pretty good stuff for Templar and the gorgon maze. Reminded me of most MMOs Ive played thru (ya, I know that was the point!) quite a bit with the coordination needed. Dont think that team would've taken Aetheon tho <.<

i've gone 45-15 in a clash match and still lost. i hate this shit. i'm always at the top of each match and i lose way more than i win.
this game is not kind for random matchmaking. i would have thought bungie would learn by now that making games that are highly team based in a console online environment tends to never fair well for a majority of players.

Answer:
Perfect. Endgame progression isn't impossible but is far from feeling rewarding, fair, or balanced.
They may be on a schedule, but there is still an element of randomness to it. I'm not even sure what determines it. Spots like Mothyards at the top of the hour are supposed to be an almost 100% chance of an event (according to others) but I've had plenty of times where I've waited (WITH other players) and nothing has happened.

If you assume 'hooded' means 'uncircumcised' this story takes on entirely different connotation .

Thanks, I had no idea that he was susceptible to Arc damage. Too bad the only Arc sniper I have is an Uncommon 3-shot. :-(

Some are less likey to show up yes, for example the Steppes event, but others, like the Walker and the event in the Mothyards are happening 90% of all times. People complaining about never having seen any public events are either just playing crucible all time, or not playing the game very often at all.

Hard counters are Nova Bomb, Fist of Havoc, or two Golden Gun shots.
If you don't have one of those available, a Defender in his bubble is DYING for you to come attempt something.
edit: We have no idea when the patch is hitting. It may not be today. Somebody jumped the gun on that last title change XD

I have an Arc machine gun as well but I think I may use the Arc rocket launcher I have tonight for this because it has fast reload and target tracking.
