Don't underestimate Sunsingers. Huge skill ceiling to play well but hot damn.

Bad ones are free kills, good ones are unstoppable. My second-most feared class. Voidwalkers are just an annoying cheap kill every once in a while, Sunsingers can run the table if played well.

True enough. Just like a bladedancer can be taken down in a 2v1 scenario...

...a bubbled Defender can as well. However, attempting the 1v1 is folly.

Unrelated note... I will say, there is nothing like coming across another hunter in Arc Blade. The resulting battles (especially if you're both using Blink) are so tense, frantic and fun, I'd play an entire game mode of it. It's only happened to me 3 times ever, but it's a blast.

holy crap i'm actually referenced in a post... in a good way? O_o
edit: HAHAHAHAHahahaha, someone asked if it 'was real?'
How many matches did it take me to warm up last night???

played crucible last night and

A) the warlocks seems to self revive a lot - and when they did, they seemed like they also had extra shield. Not sure that is fair, considering if I am aware enough to see them revive it should be a fair fight.

B) Someone was using something that set me on fire. WTF.

C) The titans seem to get ground pound whenever they like. I definitely don't get arc blade constantly. Seems unbalanced. Especially since the pound can kill you through walls.

The fact that the bosses in the raids loot tables include Shards and Energies will bother me to no end, why don't they remove the shards and energies, and make them only weapons / armor and make the chests / checkpoints have the complete tables.

Doing the raid and leaving with nothing but energies and shards is complete bullshit

Its interesting to see this kind of conversation when coming from an mmo(not saying Destiny is one but the raid....well its called a raid) in a typical mmo only bosses drop loot(usually one or two pieces and that's it) and you have to need/greed on it with everyone else in the raid. There were times throughout my raiding days in wow were id get nothing for weeks, but it'd never frustrate me.

Yep. At first I preferred Voidwalker over Sunsinger, for the blink and the special. But Sunsinger is something else. I still really miss that blink, but having two grenades charging, a melee that ignites enemies, and a special I can use after I die is too good. I often save my special until after death. Incredibly useful when doing a weekly strike solo and useful in PVP as well. When your super is active you make orbs for every kill, not just the grenades, so sometimes they really rack up. I feel like I'm most helpful to my team with this class.

The special isn't the one hit free kill(s) nuke that other classes have, but it's so damn useful. Probably the best class for area denial on Control.

Dunno. I'll try it again, but I was getting wrecked with it. ARs and shotguns all over makes it hard to do well with.

I have some great games with it, but ARs and shotguns are way too strong right now. You really can't afford to miss a shot when using hand cannons.

Side note anyone else waiting on patch before doing nightfall? First time I got a legendary engram that turned into 2 coins. Don't want that to happen again.

I don't particularly want to start the crazy amount of strikes needed for this bounty before the patch... I was actually looking forward to being rewarded for doing them.

It seems this is alot of peoples first "mmo" experience. They feel they should be rewarded constantly. Thats not how games like this work. RNG guys RNG.

Keep in mind that heroic level strikes count as 2 on the exotic bounty. Nightfall count as 3.

Lvl 27 hunter here looking to do weekly and/or nightfall if anyone needs one more. I'm on PS4, psn: CptPierate

Also I have arc weapons.

A and B are the same person. Bow down to the sunbros!

It wouldn't frustate me in TOR either because it was never a question of "Will this raid even drop a chestpiece?" Unfortunately, you have to ask that in Destiny.

In a MMO, you know which boss drops which piece of gear, and it was up to the raiders to figure out who gets what. It's easier to deal with not getting gear in this scenario since you know you'll eventually get it. There's no guarantees with Destiny, and no alternatives to powerful gear.

Anyone, particularly from the UK, experiencing the 'Bee' error code? I'm getting it pretty frequently during Crucible and Strikes. It has only started over the past few days.

I was 18-0 in Rumble and got kicked out right at the end. Really frustrating!

this was my experience, yes. it appeared as though I could just run right in and get an easy kill and be on my way. I landed 3 slices. he meleed me. I went for a fourth slice. he meleed me again. I died and he got an overshield. then he danced.

super wasted, lesson learned

It's getting buffed tho!

I popped a bubble in Exodus last night. I finally got the Thorn bounty and was working on the void kills, so Titan Defender was a go.

I shit you not, four people bumrushed me trying to kill me. All four got fusion rifled / punched to death. A 5th got a Magnetic Grenade as he tried to run.

It was surreal.

Poking around in the stats page is neat. Clearly I play way too much patrol (which probably explains my Vanguard rep). I have a K/D in patrol mode of 2,408.14, lol.

Not yet, but we can always play Destiny's Loot Cave Simulator while we wait:

It does feel rewarding, so I guess I need to see a doctor.

I need to get all this Strike talk straight. I just barely got to lv24 and hardly know what you guys are talking about. There are so many types of strikes that I'm confused. Time to look this up and type it out just so I can understand it. Please set me straight if I misunderstand something, typing this out is mostly for my own benefit.

So there are three main types of strikes, right?

  • Planet Strikes - The ones you select on the planets.
  • Vanguard Strike Playlist - The ones you select in the playlist to the right of Earth.
  • Weekly Strikes - The icons that appear to the left of the map screen.
Planet Strikes are the basic strikes included in PvE as part of the story. Difficulty level is mostly dependent on its place in the story and your player level. Intended for players under level 20. Matchmaking enabled.

Vanguard Strikes are in a playlist selected at random. Player may choose heightened difficulty levels compared to the Planet Strikes. Difficulty tiers are Eagle (18) Viper (20) Wolf (22) and Tiger (25). Intended for players level 20-25. Matchmaking enabled.

Weekly Strikes are special versions of strikes with some key changes such as increased shielding for enemies or fewer ammo drops. There are two difficulty levels: Heroic (22) and Nightfall (28). Matchmaking is disabled.

In addition to these is the Daily Heroic Mission icon which is on the left side of the map which has various tiers of difficulty and can reward ascendant materials on higher settings.

Question:
I dont know what kind of rewards the higher strikes give out. Is there a reason to do the daily mission vs the weekly strike vs a vanguard strike? What's the reward difference between a lv22 Vanguard Strike and a lv22 Weekly Strike?

Dunno. I'll try it again, but I was getting wrecked with it. ARs and shotguns all over makes it hard to do well with.
Forgive me, but have you been successful with hand cannons in PvP before? This reads a little like "hand cannons are harder to use than ARs/shotguns" which I would never deny. You can't just equip it and expect to do well because it's an exotic, it requires finesse and a lot of intentional distancing. If you want to pursue it, make sure you get that at shotgun range/quarters you should have your own shotgun or a fusion rifle out- hand cannons can never win that fight.

Lol. Sunsingers. The revive is them using their super, so of course they have all the benefits of it after the revival. It's not fair in the slightest bit, it's a super. And their grenades and melee both set people on fire XD
C) The titans seem to get ground pound whenever they like. I definitely don't get arc blade constantly. Seems unbalanced. Especially since the pound can kill you through walls.
There are a number of ways to reduce its cooldown. I will leave it at that, and not common on balance based on the sheer number of people describing arc blade as the obviously OP super :P

I maxed out Sunsinger a couple days ago and they're pretty fair at least until you max it out for double grenades (which is literally the last thing you get). That's what puts them in the top tier. I feel like it's a reward for sticking it out so long while Voidwalkers are getting their easy kills. Now if they had access to blink, they would be ridiculously OP (and fun/scary :p ).

No one knows, Bungie just said "next week". Not sure where the Tuesday thing came from (it's nowhere on the official site/twitter). I'm still hoping! :D

I'm guessing because Destiny's weekly content refreshes on Tuesdays, that's why. Honestly, I assumed that it was coming out today as well. It kinda makes sense for them to release a patch like this at the start of the week.

The difference is that Destiny isn't an MMO and probably doesn't need to copy the MMO loot table style.

MMOs typically have a lot of other things to do besides raids at high level, usually things that can earn you other rewards (or even separate leveling structures like crafting/professions). The raid is the Big High Level Thing to do in Destiny besides the weekly and PVP, so it's definitely deflating to get nothing out of it.

So pointless -_-

Not really, instead of "you're probably getting a blue item, if lucky you'll get a legendary item, and if even luckier you'll get one for your class, if even luckier than that you'll get an exotic"

it's "you're getting a legendary item, if lucky you'll get one for your class, if luckier you'll get an exotic"

Either way, a legendary is guaranteed now, which is much much better than the previous shenanigans.

Easily my favorite video clip that I've saved is from a bladedancer duel where we both see each other and activate our supers to see who can kill who so that the survivor can take out the nearby team. I really wish there was some more third person gaming in Destiny. There needs to be a Sword of Croata mode where it's several people vs one guy with the sword.

Bungie, when are you going to add Safari support for Bungie.net? I can't see my character :(

I am running the OS X Yosemite Public Beta and Bungie.net runs fine on my Safari. But yeah it doesn't Run on Mavericks (or probably below that too). Maybe Bungie is just waiting for you to upgrade your OS.

Yeah, lol, it can be so brutal to watch. I just staaaay away.

I had what I'm sure is a similar sensation last night during my best match with Pocket Infinity. I was holding the chokepoint in that narrow room on Exodus Blue (one of the heavy ammo spawn points) and people just KEPT RUNNING IN through the two extremely tight bottlenecks. Spawn, run in, get vaporized, spawn, run in, get vaporized. I don't understand why they decided to try more than twice.

Okay you're right on the money about the different kinds.

Rewards

Daily Heroic Story (once a day) - Ascendant Materials (2 shards/energies at level 28)
Weekly Heroic Strike (once a week) - Strange Coins (9 at level 28)
Weekly Nightfall (once a week) - exotics, legendaries, ascendant materials, strange coins, or legendary engrams

These are per character.
