It seems this is alot of peoples first "mmo" experience. They feel they should be rewarded constantly. Thats not how games like this work. RNG guys RNG.

I can only speak from The Old Republic, RNG in raids was mainly confined to figuring out who'd get what piece of gear from a boss. Everyone knows what drops from all of the bosses in a raid. RNG meant rolling a d100 for a piece if anything. There are fancier ways to distribute loot of course, but you get what I mean.

Destiny takes RNG in raids to an obnoxious level where gear isn't guaranteed at all for the entire week for an individual, while others may get said gear or even duplicates of gear they've already gotten.

As far as VoG goes, the issue is a bigger scope than feeling like someone should be rewarded constantly.

damnit, Respect, I'm a doctor, not a Cryptarch!

Obligatory, for your guardians trek through old Russia:

Also, The Last Word isn't good. I have it. Ugh.

Yeah, I tried it out, didn't love it, I am a recent convert to the church of hand cannons though. I will eventually get to leveling it, looks great, but I'm not FPS vet like a lot of folks, and most of the perks are tied to hip firing, which I'm terrible at. The built in auto-fire mode is nice though.

Anyone, particularly from the UK, experiencing the 'Bee' error code? I'm getting it pretty frequently during Crucible and Strikes. It has only started over the past few days.

I was 18-0 in Rumble and got kicked out right at the end. Really frustrating!

I get Bee quite frequently as well. I'm in the US though.

Last night I attempted to open the ports on my router that Bungie recommends but my router is being stingy and only let me open 1 set of the ports they recommend. But after I did that I only got Bee 1 time last night.

On a previous night I would get booted out 10+ times in a 3 hour session with various Bee's, Baboons, and Beavers.

So opening at least some of the ports they want might have helped a little.

I got tolands legacy or whatever and I need to ask because I suck at pvp. Is there a good approach to getting 10k points. I don't think I've ever been over 1.0 on k/d ratio which makes me think will never ever finish the questline. Is it more a matter of practice than anything else?

Yeah, I've played MMO's and that's nonsense. You can craft, trade, run dungeons, and work towards getting specific pieces of gear without wasting your time. Destiny doesn't really let you do anything but grind marks, while everything else is completely random and probably garbage. The only reason this loot system is probably this bad is because once you have 4 pieces of legendary armor you're more or less finished gearing your character until you get raid gear. The variation between gear is so shallow it may as well be meaningless.

I am running the OS X Yosemite Public Beta and Bungie.net runs fine on my Safari. But yeah it doesn't Run on Mavericks (or probably below that too). Maybe Bungie is just waiting for you to upgrade your OS.

Everything's up to date. All I get is a message saying, "The companion is fully supported by the latest version of Chrome and Firefox."

Got my first set of exotic bounties
A Dubious Task: Invective
A Light in the Dark: Thorn
Toland's Legacy: Bad Juju

Which would you choose? Keeping in mind that the Bad Juju and Thorn are both underwhelming but might get better with a patch that may arrive before December and that shotguns are useless in high level PvE.

Just play conservatively. Don't be the first to rush out the door. Assists count for points as well. So just go kill things.

This is the easiest of all the PVP bounties.

I think you would need less than a 0.5 K/D to not make progress on it. I don't know of anybody that bad in every match they play.

I need to get all this Strike talk straight.

So there are three main types of strikes, right?

I dont know what kind of rewards the higher strikes give out. Is there a reason to do the daily mission vs the weekly strike vs a vanguard strike?

  • The "regular" strikes are the ones you select on each planet. Their rewards are locked to a particular level e.g. The Devil's Lair is a Level 8 Strike. Matchmaking is present.
  • Strike Playlist comes in 4 flavors (difficulty levels) and consists of a Strike chosen at random at the level you choose. You can accumulate Vanguard Marks and Rep here as well.
  • The icons to your left show the Dailies and Weeklies; some rotate each day like the Daily Story Mission, while some rotate only once a week like the Weekly Heroic Strike and Nightfall Strike. These are also high level but you can scale the difficulty up for more rewards such as Ascendant Materials or Strange Coins. Matchmaking for the Strikes here is not present.

Thank you, I don't get how any one can defend this shitty loot system

That will still be random I believe but it will be a guaranteed Legendary or higher.

I'm perfectly ok with this as the only way I'll ever get off my ass and level my alt is by having a full set of Legendary gear waiting for her at Level 20. I'm sure as HELL not about to grind Vanguard bounties all over again.

Thorn. I have mine maxed out. It's great in the Crucible.

I'm going for Bad Juju. With the suppose buff, it might be good. I trashed the same bounty last week but after the patch notes, I took it again when it came back to choose which ones I wanna do.

Any where in particular? I've just picked up my 10th fusion rifle as well so want to get the last bit of this damn quest sorted finally...

when you start just take a hard right as soon as you load up. there will be a big circular door that will lead to Fire Base Rubicon.

I went with Bad Juju cuz it looks bad ass. I hope the buff can live up to the looks.

Umm.. The result of your decryption is determined at the time you obtain the engram, not at the time you decrypt it. Whatever those turn out to be has already been decided.

It's been like 300 pages and still people don't realize it's to level the Cryptarch, not the items themselves, lol.

Well, fully upgraded bad juju is fun. But not good for high level stuff. And the bounty is not hard.

I have Bad JuJu and Invective.

Go Bad JuJu. When you unlock full auto its godly for cleaning up mobs. And they are making it better.

If I make one, I have an exotic helmet and two legendary pieces for a Hunter . Tempting, but I dunno if I want to reach that level of crazy. Already have a level 12 Titan, too...haha.

There's no penalty towards the 10,000 points for deaths as far as I know. Youl'll be getting a lot of practice, and just need the patience to finish. I have the bounty too, haha. On the strike portion of the quest still.

Just cleared the Weekly Heroic Strike at Level 28 with a fireteam of three.

This shit was harder than the Nightfall and the Raid!

That's good to hear cause I just did the same with a lvl 25 in the fire team. Soo many close calls. My heart was racing minutes after... 9 strange coins :)

They could've definitely added more unique affixes to legendary gear, for sure. I mean, I guess getting extra Rifle/Cannon/what have you ammo is fine but....saving the unique affixes to exotics really deters people from collecting Legendary Armor or bothering with it.

With WoW for example, 2 pieces of Epic gear that go in the same slot can have completely different secondary stats(Either Haste, Crit, Mastery). And they're expanding this system in the next xpac with tertiary stats(Multistrike, Lifesteal, Cleave, Bonus Armor, Amplify, Readiness(Cooldown reduction), Versatility), as well as other various minor stats.

I don't see why Destiny couldn't utilize a similar system, whether it was extra armor, faster firing rate, faster movement/higher jumps....it'd give people a reason to run strikes more than once, to collect marks, hell, to just find loot in general.
