The problem with Destiny's loot system is there are no checks and balances to prevent frustration. Inherently it should be random, but there should some concrete calculations also involved. There is no reason I should be getting chatterwhite and 3 shards everytime I beat Atheon. That is inherently wrong. Each run through should progressively increase the bias for other rewards.

Think it just means that they're Purple now instead of Blue, to better reflect how rare they are.

Agreed. They upped you getting Legendary weapons but made them harder to upgrade which I think is the right move. It's cool to get those weapons.

They didn't actually say that purples that people hoarded would turn to blues after the patch. They just said that they would produce the same result as before. Most likely blue, but still a chance to be legendary.

Their "weight" determined how often they would randomly show up in rotation. So a lower weight means they won't come up as often.

I've only seen a handful anyway in 100+ hours of gaming. Blues having more of a chance of being legendary should help ease the pain of not finding purps.
