I bought this game three weeks too early.

I guess maybe FINALLY I will get some purple weapons. I have three exotics and then all blues, lol.

Is this for real? Is the idea that he gives out blue engrams when he levels up from now on? Or is this just some kind of temporary hold over from pre-patch stuff?

exactly! all of the strike bosses should enrage or have some sort of secondary attack.

anything that makes it less repetitive. all of them are fun... for the first 5 minutes.

He can still drop both purple and blue engrams but the purple drop rate has been nerfed for obvious reasons.

All of mine except for 1 (this is prior to this patch of course) had simply become blue anyway; the one that did become two purple engrams, eventually yielded two blue items.

No one even knows if the odds of getting a purple engram from these mail rewards has changed, my luck certainly didn't point to it being a high chance before, but now people are seething because the implications of getting a blue engram versus a purple engram are so much more stark.

tl:dr, you can still get legendary engrams from the cryptarch mail, it just stings a lot more when you don't

ahhhhh, gotcha... i didn't read the fine print. the package has always been purple so i just assumed getting screwing over was part of the normal deal with him. they should probably change the color of the little package you get at the postmaster then.
 
Out of 25 blues I got 3 legendaries and few motes of light/ strange coins. I'm happy.

How many motes if light do you need for weekend exotic engram?

Uhh, he's always done this. I've opened a purple package and gotten 3 rares before, pre-patch. But now since legendaries always decrypt to purple, he just has a higher chance of giving you a blue engram. We all knew that it would be harder to acquire legendaries as a result of them decrypting to higher quality items, this just goes along with their philosophy of having better rewards come from taking part in activities like strikes etc. Seems like a perfectly reasonable change to me.

See my above post. Just more psychology

he could always give out either blue or purple engrams (or shaders and maybe other stuff?) from those mail rewards. you still can get purple engrams from this, probably at the same chance (personally, I was like 1 in 8 from them before anyway).

the point of pain has just migrated from decrypting a purple engram and getting a blue to just seeing that you don't get a purple engram from a mail reward.

I would be fine with that if only we can disable the screen shaking. That crap makes me so sick. It's a bad issue when I fight the cabal at times too with all their rockets.
 
Looks like I'll be hitting Strikes to max out my Vanguard marks as opposed to public events, especially if people are blowing through them in 15-20 minutes now.

I can't believe people thought they could beat the system by hoarding blues and getting tons of legendary engrams from the postman...

lol, I mean, I guess they should just make it white or something. THAT's not a high priority so much XD
 
Just got to Phogoth on the Xyor strike for Thorn, solo, and it kicks me back to orbit.

*sigh*

Time for something to eat and then I'll go again.
 
Had some lost purple engrams sitting at the postmaster, and a purple package from the cryptarch leveling. The purples had turned to blue when I got to the postmaster. The purple package gave 2 blues. Turning them purple in the mailbox is dirty, Bungie. :(

Anyway, I took my haul of blues to the cryptarch. One turned into a legendary sniper, and another turned into a duplicate set of Sunbreakers (already purchased from Xur). The other two turned into blue armor. I can't complain. It's more than I would've gotten pre-patch. I'm just mad the patch came today and not yesterday, before I completed the nightfall. I'll do it with my Warlock tonight though. I have a feeling I'm going to be grinding a lot tonight. PEACE.
 
The fuck?

Doing a mission for the queen, get to the boss room, sniping some of the adds on the doorway to clear the room out, door slams down on me, I died, I res, door won't open anymore and then I get DCed.

And since rares have a better chance of dropping legendary loot, it's definitely a net win.

I live in Germany, there is a website called "PosterXXL".

I found the four above pictures at a nice high resolution and PosterXXL had a sale going on for prints on canvas. The three small ones cost me 20€ instead of 40€ and the bigger one cost 30€ instead of 60€. So i got all 4 for 100€ including shipping.

Now I just need to get the Titan one redone and I'm all set :)

Would be nice if your cryptarch level gave a better chance at better stuff, but then other araes of the games might benifit similarly from less randomness
. I would say that, my cryptarch level is mid-30s :)
