Purple armour needs lots and lots of helium filaments. I patrolled the moon to get 16 filaments and upgrade one piece but the effort levelled up another bit of armour and now I need 16 more. I'm hoping there's a better way to do this!

You just need to learn where the chests usually spawn and get the open helium filaments along the way, the system seems to employ a whack a mole system with the chests + materials for every one you get another pops elaewhere.

You can hit 29 with 3 pieces of raid gear + 1 normal legendary. 30 requires a complete raid set or 3 with 1 exotic.

I get what you're saying but I know people who've spent 200hrs playing the game and haven't found more than 1 or 2 exotics that they could use so I think Xur is kind of necessary in a game like this.

Wish I had known about raid gear before I leveled to 29. I guess I found out the hard way that you can't get to level 30 with 3 legendaries and one exotic

Deku...Let me know if it works for you. The only reason I went ahead and completed it wihtout everyone present was because College Boy was saying that is the way it works, and everyone gets a checkpoint. If it doesn't work out I'll help you get back to that point at least, if not finish it.

even without using the arcbolt grenades (i'm a flux man myself), having full grenade energy _every_ time you respawn is pretty great. more heavy weapon ammo is also glorious - i use an HMG in pvp and the extra comes in VERY handy.

i just switched it out for the symbiote, so we'll see how my gunslinger pve experience translates :p

I happened to be on a patrol mission to kill Hive. He was preventing the Hive from spawning. So I decided to troll him back, and prevent the Fallen from spawning.

Finally got a legendary weapon out of a blue engram. Seems like a rather nifty Scout Rifle too (Aries Nemesis X4).

All hail the new Master Rahool.

Yeah enemies just wander around doing nothing when blinded will be absolutely useful against those minotaurs and hopefully stops those annoying exploding harpies temporarily.

fuck this game. I want the third man helm, not that crap. and since I won't buy the weapon because it's a shitty pulse rifle I'll get nothing or that helmet.

Granted, leaving someone to do a bunch of nothing like shooting into the loot cave after its been patched to high heaven? He probably did them a favor considering how useless it is now.

I got that same rifle today. I have so many legendary/exotic special weapons but don't really have good primaries so it was nice to finally get one.

Raid helms can only drop when you beat Atheon on hard mode it seems, that's the only time I've ever seen them drop for me or other people. I already had the Helm of Inmost Light so it was useless to me.

Finally have enough strange coins (28 due to some nice friends carrying me the last few weeks) to get an exotic. 4th golden gun shot sounds lovely!
 
I'm only 16 ass shards away from a 30. So close, yet so so far away. I feel i've gotten insanely lucky with the raid.

After 3 normal raid clears i've gotten:

-The boots
-The chest
-The gauntlets
-Vision of Confluence
-Atheon's Epilogue
-Found Verdict
-Chatterwhite
-Shattered Vault Cloak
-A whole ton of ass energy/shards

A friend of mine has done 6 raid clears using 2 characters and hasn't even gotten a gear piece yet.
 
I ended up spending my motes on a helmet engram in hopes I get a warlock helmet.

Ended up getting the hunter Third Man mask one. Oh well. Now that's two exotic helms for my baby hunter.

He just meant that you didn't help him out. Some public events are really tough to handle by yourself.
 
So decided to pass on the Achlyophage Symbiote Hunter Helm and hold out my Strange Coins for the Knucklehead Radar helmet whenever that comes around again.

I figure Inverse Shadow Ability -> An extra Golden Gun shot. Also it looks ugggllyyyy.

Yeah, they've gotta put in an alternate advancement method. Iron Banner, maybe?
 
Xur stock is great for me. Since I already have the Red Death I can use the coins on both the Titan and Hunter helm. That gives me all 3 hunter exotic helms and an exotic for my alt. Sweeeet!

Let's see. I'll have one exotic with 30 light. One raid gloves with 30 light. And two legendary armory with 22 light each. That would give me 104 light. That's level 28. Otherwise yes your right I can get to level 29 using my system with only one more piece of fully upgraded raid armor... I hope its a chest piece or legs cause that's what I'll need.
 
Okay, we really need some better stat representation or something.

If I shoot Bad Juju, what I think is my stability is terrible. I could end up about 45 degrees higher into the air after a full clip.

Yet somehow, Red Death, which says it has worse stability might leave me at around 10-15 degrees higher into the air from it's full clip.

How am I supposed to be able to make a purchase off of this displayed information here? I've already bought 1 purple auto rifle and 1 purple pulse rifle out of the tower that both turned out to be pretty terrible, because these stats are so hard to make sense out of.

It's OK as a random drop. I'm busy upgrading mine as the stability isn't anywhere near good enough at first. I've got it leveled up around half-way and I'm finding it very usable now. Just be aware that it kicks like a mule at the start.

TBH though the 2 alternatives you have are both better guns

It might be good to point out in gearing guides to try and get an exotic headpiece as soon as possible, unless you end up in my situation.

Yeah. I'm approaching, hopefully, my second raid clear. I am currently level 29. I've gotten raid boots (that have crappy stats, my Intellect is already maxed and it's JUST +Int) and chatterwhite, but that's it and we're on the Gatekeeper. RNG has not favored me yet.

I'm not even wearing the raid boots yet (and BARELY into 29).

As an aside, 29 Titan for hire anything if you guys ever see me on.
 
Got my 4th Exotic Bounty, one of them was a repeat again of the Pocket Infinity, FOOK THAT!, not waiting again @ the mercy of the Gunsmith and then 200 Nightfall kills with it

Went with Super Good Advice, the stages look very easy, will get it and dismantle for shards/energy

Still trucking through on getting the Bad Juju and Thorn also, so 3 Exotic Bounties to push through, UGH!
 
As a level 29, I'm wondering if I have any business using the relic on hard mode during the gatekeeper/atheon parts.

Then again, there's really no choice in a group of complete 29s.

As soon as I heard about the fusion rifle bit, I flooded my vault with every fusion rifle I could find. When I finally got Pocket Infinity, I had 11 fusion rifles.

I got really lucky.

That being said, Grave, if you still need help on Nightfall and y'see me on, just yell. I also am on the Xyor, the Unwed part of Thorn.
