bungie's under no obligation to nerf raids if people complain it's too difficult when matchmade.

but simply throwing in matchmaking and voice chat into raids will create more unnecessary problems than they solve. they need gear checks, player specific saves vs fireteam leader saves, and possibly their own unique lobby system. they might even need to split each phase into its own matchmade checkpoint. it's a lot of work and it'd take a considerable amount of time to develop even if they planned for it.

"just let us try it" isn't exactly the point.

But really, I imagine every boss has a melee countermeasure to stop high agility attackers running circles round them whilst punching away. Without them, the boss would basically be unable to stop you punching it to death.
 
It teaches you not to join MM if you don't have time. Perhaps build MM options for "only playing up to X area" and players won't be punished for quitting after that and can do another MM session to start from there later.

That sounds terrible. A group might get stuck on the same section for ages.

Yep. That's part of the MMO lite portion of this game. Caps on marks, glimmer, weekly resets etc.

I want to get up and play a little but feeling tired today (more mental than physical). Hopefully I'll finish the Raid this week, but won't stress if I don't.
 
Thought I'd level my Titan a bit over remote play. Sweet jebus, I don't know how people play fps on the Vita. I don't know how I managed 2 hard story missions without throwing it against a wall.
 
I see no problem with raid matchmaking. People just need to know that they will probably have a crappy experience with randoms. But the option would still be nice. I personally wouldn't make use of it though since I've had a good experience playing with all you fellow gaffers.

What really needs matchmaking is the weekly and daily missions. None of these require that much coordination except maybe the nightfall, since people could really piss you off there by dying and sending you back to orbit.
 
I just watched a video of a group doing atheon hard. They were all 29s and they killed him in 4 portal runs. Everyone went to the center and it looked like they all shot the boss and nobody worried about supplicants during that phase. The relic holder stood at the red dot, which is where I was standing at first. If they got ported to jungle, the relic holder would pick up the shield, drop it near the top of the stairs, and fire 2 rockets at the mobs downstairs, then pick it back up. I actually thought about that, but it was grenades instead.

The spot where the relic holder would put up the shield is fine. The problem was there wasn't enough room in the shield bubble due to nearly two-thirds of it being off the platform leading to everybody huddling up near the remaining space. This led to some like myself being pushed out and getting killed by splash damage.
