durante might have to change some things after removing gfwl ?

Unless FROM themselves will add some decent graphics options this time around. Even if they straight up copy Durante's fix. I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

But somehow I don't think they will add graphics options and we will need Durante one last time.

Will people that already played through the game gets the achievements that they did already or am I gonna have to play this game again?

Well... time to play through it again. Looks like no other game has even a chance of dethroning this from the top of my most played games.

Still haven't played the game because I've been patiently waiting for the GFWL to be removed from it, so yeah, I'd be pretty happy if it got actually removed soon.

I've heard Durante's GeDoSaTo patch makes you play the game in offline mode, is this true?

DS1 uses DSFix, not GeDoSaTo. But no, you can play online.
It does something similar though last I checked: you need to disable the Steam overlay to prevent issues, so you won't be seeing what messages you get in-game or what achievements you earned. For someone that prefers a game to be a cut off experience this isn't really an issue but for those that want to see achievement notifications ping or keep talking with friends it can be an issue.

Holy shit yes! I can finally start my first playthrough!

They should call it: Dark Souls: Prepare to Durante Edition

Heck they should make him DLC or something. Even games that haven't had his work are doing it. It's all the rage these days

GFWL is the only thing stopping me from playing the game again. Playing it direct through steam and without all the other crap would be awesome.

Great timing. I'm 30 hours into the PC version (after having played the 360 version 3 times), and just finished getting all the Lord Souls and just started the DLC last night. So, do you think I should wait to finish it off without the GFWL bs, or is this change just gonna end up corrupting my save file and making everything go wrong anyway?

Guess I should hurry up and buy a GPU, so I can run this game the way it deserves to be run.

Even at higher resolutions and framerates, Dark Souls doesn't require a very beefy GPU.

If Namco doesn't make the saves compatible, then I'm sure someone else will find a way.

Can they patch the game to integrate Durante's patch so that I don't have to remember how to use it every time I want to play the game?

I wonder if the netcode was coded using GFWL aswell and if it is, hopefully this fixes the connections issues.

considering that Dark Souls also came out on the PS3, i doubt that the code is directly tied to GFWL, and if anything they at least have code that isn't directly tied to an xbox/MS platform.

DSFix consists of literally modifying a text file. It's really incredibly simple to use and only requires that you make the changes you want and to save the file afterwards. Took me one edit of the file during my whole +40 hour playthrough.

Yo Grief, how do you always have the heads up on these patches and such?

Also, did anyone ever get the HUD scaling to work without glitches?

I would personally love it if GFWL was removed from GTA 4 and the expansions.

Episodes from Liberty City doesn't use GfWL. GTA4 has the achievements for them but it doesn't work like that.

I guess if you bought it from the XBL store (which you're hosed now that that's shutdown)...

Episodes from Liberty City does use GFWL, both physical & digital versions.

I guess i'll stop my PS3 playthrough and jump to PC. Do you think there'll be a way to convert your save over like for Skyrim?

I could never hit constant 60fps on my old 7850, seems other ATI users have had similar problems.
Also, there's stuff like Sif's fight, when the amount of fur shaders to render can bring down even a beefy GPU, AFAIK.

The moments that knocked my framerate down from 60 fps seemed to be more due to optimization issues than cpu/gpu bottlenecks. For instance, the moment when my game chugged the most - weirdly enough - is the web tunnel between the quelaag's lair and the Demon Ruins, when there was literally nothing on the screen but my character and the web tunnel. I was running the game at 1080p with a 4770k, gtx 770 and on an SSD, so it wasn't like my pc had some glaringly obvious reason to have a drop ever, but especially in that particular section.

Not my Steam copy. It never asked for GfWL. I'm talking the separate bought version, to be clear. Unless you're running the multiplayer it never asks for GfWL. I never had to enter a CD-key, mess with GfWL/Sign into a profile. I simply booted EfLC.exe and... was in either of the expansions.
