Xbox One Available for $349 in the U.S. This Holiday Season

At the rate the Xbox One price is dropping you might be better off waiting for next fall when it hits $199. By fall 2016 it could be $50, if you're patient.

So we're back to the "Microsoft doesn't give a crap about months that aren't October > December" already? Still, it would be very strange if they didn't keep the price cut. It'd be bait to get sales for Nov-Dec but throwing their hands up for everything after which is really not an image they want to project. Corporate speak decoded; They're desperate for a few NPD wins for PR purposes and then have few real plans for the next 10 months (so probably until Halo 5). They're probably dipping into the territory of losing money on each sale, especially in the third-party game bundles, so I'm wondering how much leeway they'll get there for the higher-ups.

Even if they sell 1M per month, thats only a 50M loss per month, that's pocket change to them

I think they have been losing money on sales for a while.

Will be interesting to see how Sony and Nintendo react, I think both will. This winter is going to see some huge numbers if these price cuts keep up. As for me I'm going to wait, at this rate I will get my xbox one and Halo 5 for £199 or less by Xmas next year.

Wow, Microsoft are really getting desperate now. Makes me wonder how bad the world wide sales must be for them to be willing to take such an increasingly big loss to try and save the NA market.

Also this could have a knock on effect with the WiiU sales, if it goes much lower. Nintendo really need to get their system's price down, because if it's a straight choice between an XO or WiiU at the same price I can't see many people going with Nintendo.

Welp, probably wasn't going to get one until early next year, but now I am going to have to shop around and find an SO bundle when the price drops.

I cancelled my pre-order for the Sunset Overdrive bundle from Amazon last week, since I was still unsure if I wanted an Xbox One. I'll probably rarely use it, but this makes it more tempting for sure. That's assuming this deal comes to Canada, of course.

Good move, must have been why Pachter was telling people to hold off. Look forward to seeing more people on Killer Instinct :)

Sony has less to worry about than Nintendo.

The Wii U's biggest advantage was price this holiday season. That advantage has become smaller.

nah this is going to be permanent after the limited time only expires, probably standalone for only $349, limited offer is a bundled game right?
Highly doubt that it will be a permanent drop. Thats 150 bucks off and not even a year in. Means they are losing money on the hardware at this point.

People pretending this deal is better than 400$ + a free game. Or better than 450$ + Titanfall, Kinect, and a year of Live.

I don't see why Sony should do anything The PS4 is going to sell, and nobody outside of Microsoft (or certain forum enthusiasts) is going to care if Microsoft wins NPD by a small amount. No way does this remotely even things world-wide.

Hopefully, this pays off. For all the negativity and bad decisions surrounding the launch, what has emerged since is a really sweet gaming machine.

Who was talking about worldwide sales? This is a thread pertaining to a US price drop. Relax.

Probably a small loss at $350 on the core system. More on the bundles.

Losing potential subscriptions is much worse than any losses on hardware. They're already lost a lot of old 360 owners that went to the PS4. If that kept up, losing subscriptions, they might as well pack up the division.

This is really good to see, I planned on picking one up in like 2016 or whenever Banjo/Conker/Perfect Dark happen (if they happen) so it should be pretty low by that point.

Another price cut? I can't think of any other console that's seen so many cuts in it's first year on the market.

It begs the question of, if this isn't wildly successful, how much longer does the Xbox division get to go while burning raw cash on this of all things? Microsoft has an endless supply of money but this is a pretty low-priority area for running through a surplus, especially since there's no immediate sign of return on it. Sony was forced to stick it out for the sake of the entire company. Microsoft's situation is different.

In no way am I saying this means the brand is in any kind of danger--That's crazy-talk--but there will be accountability at some point. The politics behind this move must be fascinating.

The price of the standalone unit without Kinect is dropped to 349$. That doesn't mean that bundles with games included are sold at this price. Apparently, the CoD limited edition bundle is 449$.

The chances of SO being a huge success just greatly increased as well, this deal, with the White Xbox= huge sales hopefully.

It applies to any bundle, so it is 350 for a console and free game. 2 free games for the AC bundle. 450 for Cod bundle with 1 TB.

Still, 300 would have been killer.

What happens to the people who pre-ordered SO bundle? Is it late for them?

Well of course. MS isn't entitled to give refunds to people just because they couldn't control their impulses. Patience is a virtue so the extra $50 you are paying is to get the bundle early. Be happy they let you have that at least.

$50 off the console of your choice applies to any Xbox One console, including special edition bundles, offering some of the year’s most anticipated games – Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and Sunset Overdrive.

It's in the OP. The title may say $349 but the promotion is $50 off any console/bundle.

Microsoft is really on fire :) They just needed to change and now they are just as good as back then. Great games and prices, and now I guess Sony will cut prices too so everybody wins.

I think if you bought a PS4 at launch or a little bit later, you have made a perfect deal and now it's a good opportunity to own both consoles :)

I like Sony exclusives better but I always like something at the other camp too so I want both consoles but first PS4.

$350 for console + game is not better than $400 for console + game?

I need a new calculator.

Pre-orders literally hours from shipping out and this deal starts in November so, yeah, I'd have to think so.

This... might be why Amazon "ran out" of availability on the SO bundle last week. They could have been in no mood for angry customers or thousands of returns for an idem people would just re-buy a few days later. Stock could well magically reappear next week.
Edit: Yeah, we should have seen this coming with the bundle oddity last week.
