Xbox One Available for $349 in the U.S. This Holiday Season

Did you even read my post?
I said price drop or bundle.
Sony will at least have a official $399 PS4 bundled with a game this holiday just like they have for every single holiday since they've been in the industry.

If i had to take a guess we'll see the White Destiny Bundle and a black GTA5 bundle for $399. The system and brand are so strong right now, so i don't think they'll drop $50 off to match MS.

I read it you said every console has a price drop after a year, clearly not PS4 bundles are not price drops.

What's the biggest sale record per month? If Xbox one hit 1.5m and PS4 do 500k, they will regain the lead.

Is this a serious post?

PS4 has some competition this holiday.

But if it outsells Xbox One after all these price cuts, they have officially gone beyond the point of desperation to being relegated to permanent second place - and I mean every npd, second place was already a given.

Xbox One isnt THAT far behind in the US. They're going to catch up here eventually. Its other countries where this thing needs a price drop.

To me, this is just MS doing anything and everything it can to win the Nov/Dec months so they can claim victory by winning Holiday, you know, because the other 10 months of the year didnt matter.

That worked out well for Microsoft last Christmas. What if Microsoft has a nice bundle at $349 and Nintendo puts out a Smash Bundle for $249 for Black Friday? Sony will have to respond eventually. Their brand isn't immune to people being swayed by a nice value proposition.

Why cant you preorder the sunset overdrive bundle on amazon? Did that ship already sale? I went on there a bunch over the last month. Never saw it.

Some people forget Sony has had a 1 year long gap of sales, that gap aint changing with a 1 month win lol

Why don't they drop the price in Europe? The console is somewhat dead at least in Germany and MS doesn't even bundle a game to the console for 399€ (500$). Last week a store manager of one of the big retailers, Saturn, told me that the stores are making bundles themselves to reduce stock while loosing money.

On the other hand I'm still pleased that I bought a One with 2 games for 370€ half a year ago.

Only in US is kind of surprising. Maybe MS funds aren't completely unlimited?

People seriously need to stop with this MS has unlimited funds crap. Xbox is a division. Divisions have a thing called a budget. They do not have unlimited money to throw at the console or to take deep hits on it.

So, wait, the COD special edition with 1TB HDD and a copy of the game is $349?

That's a helluva a bargain. I feel like I'm missing something.

Sony doesn't have to really respond. It's own momentum will easily carry it through the holidays. Xbox will sell though with these deals. This may be the time for me to jump in and finally get one.

How will Sony respond?

For me, they could start by improving the quality of PSN...

I say they stand their ground and win Nov & Dec, then people will realize the reality of this gen.

For some reason people are hungry to see MS
win Nov & Dec, they forget MS wants to win every single month since nov 2013...

You can't grow the install base (relative to last gen) if your competitor is eating up your customers (which is what's been happening all this year). MS need to start taking customers back from Sony if they want to stand a chance of ending this gen in a good position.

With the worldwide sales situation the way it is, at this point its only a question of how much weaker they're going to end this gen than when they started it. They need to do everything in their power to make the gap as small as possible.

Numbers show most customers from last gen have yet to even buy a new system. I'll est. Sony is at 12 million PS4 WW. Even if 4 million of those came from xb360 thats a small number from an install base of 84 million.

Are they still doing the promotion where if someone recommends a friend you both get $25? If you can still do that on top of this than that is one helluva deal.

That's a helluva deal. I love competition because stuff like this happens.

Xbox One will have a great holiday, no doubt.

I get what you're saying but i think Sony cares more about profit than "winning" a few months in the USA.
Remember they did VERY well with that $450 Destiny bundle last month.

I don't see a price drop but then again they don't need to. I see them maybe doing a free year of PS+ while also adding Knack and Killzone to the instant game collection.

This will be very tempting, but with all the other games I'm already planning on picking up, I'm not sure I have the time to justify it yet.

If there's an even better deal on Black Friday, I may bite. My guess they'll throw in another game that weekend.

Christ every time I start thinking about buying a XB1 they lower the price. Might as well wait until next year now and get it even cheaper.

You know, that is a dangerous precedent that Microsoft is setting regarding Xbox One.

These constant barrages of price cuts and promotions could produce an undesirable effect where consumers could actually be hesitant to buy the console because they'll just wait till they cut the price again.

It's a win for consumers, but from a business perspective, this does not instill confidence in Xbox One, and it exudes desperation.

US only is the final confirmation that Microsoft has completely given up in the rest of the world.

They're focusing on the US because they desperately need to win there. Even last generation PS3 won XBox 360 out of the US. This time is being just a bloodbath everywhere.

Not sure if Sony needs to go down to $350 though. If they manage to keep #1 spot in the US it will be PS2 all over again.

It is a risky move though, they may allow Microsoft to build a momentum it's currently on their side.

Sony cant let this stand.. not with the exclusive line up they have this holiday.

Expect announcement soon.

When you're the market leader, you don't need to react to the cheapesr guys price cuts. Thats smells that you're worried. Right now, Sony is in a great position to not afford to be worried. Since its launched the PS4 has never price cut as bad as MS, and still win out wvery NPD. They have a proven brand, people want more than Xbox now. I expect Sony will do a price cut late Xmas or early next year as a sign they aren't reacting to MS desperation. On BF, they'll have a temporary sales price as tradition holds on BF every console maker will have some kind of temporary price drop bundle.

Bundles are entering really good value territory here in Aus too IMO. I just saw an XBO / AC: Unity, AC4, and Forza Horizon 2 for $430.

I wonder if Sony will, or can compete at $349. Sunset Overdrive will push people over the edge I reckon. Personally, I think Sunset / Master Chief Collection VS LBP3 is a poor matchup.

The Phil Spencer Effect.

That said, a hungry Microsoft has always been a good Microsoft.

Doesn't this mean you should probably hope that they don't ever "win" because when Microsoft "wins" they become complacent and sometimes arrogant? As long as they stay hungrily chasing a win and not achieving it, you will continue to see their best.

I'm actually happy for Xbox owners. I bought a PS4 after 2 gens with Microsoft, but I'll be damned if they aren't bringing the heat this year. A hungry Microsoft truly is a beast.

Is this for real?

Let's take a step back for a second and try to look at this from your average consumer's point of view.
They probably don't give a shit about the distinction of what is, and is not exclusive. So they look at the big games this Holiday. New Assassin's Creed, Farcry, COD etc all launching on both consoles - except one is more powerful and statistically, they may have more friends playing on it too.

I'm just not sure where this mentality that the XB1 exclusives are a threat when multiplats and mindshare sit overwhelmingly in favour of Sony. Worst/Best case scenario is that Sony get marginally outsold across Nov and December and then continue to stomp for the majority of next year.

Regardless the competition is good. I'm looking forward to seeing if this price cut turns up in Australia in some form, because Halo MCC is looking tasty.
