WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

Aha, found it. It's called "Swinging Reverse STO" All it's missing is the kiss, but it's pretty much Wyatt's otherwise.

I think it may be a DLC move though. But look at STOs and stuff and see if there's anything in there similar. The Complete Shot move should still be fine too.

Edit: Yeah, the Spinning Complete Shot is pretty much the same thing as the DLC one.

I love how half the DLC moves you get are just renamed versions of moves already in the game. They did add Nevile's splash though.

I played the 360 version, same ol crap but there are some major exaggerations from some members on here, including some blatant lies. But i do agree, the 360 version shits.

Same old crap? How is it same when shit is removed, downloads are limited, has a worse roster and they managed to introduce even more bugs?

Theres your answer. Its the same old crap that we are used, to clarify, its crap, its the same crap, not improved. Crap is crap.

After a few hours with the PS3 version I'll also say folks are exaggerating quite a bit. I had 0 problems hitting both of Zayn's running strikes (the flippy kick and the same huricanrana that Sin Cara had in previous games) and after playing through the first 3 NXT modes and several singles matches I've had few glitches outside of a sad bug where the sound of moves hitting the mat was delayed half a second. All other sound effects were timed well, so it might be an intentional choice for all I know.

I was actually disappointed at how not bad it was. So far it's exactly the same as last year minus a few modes and a newer roster.

I'll agree that it's the same old crap. I'm not sure what people expect at this point from these games. It's within the same realm of "meh it is what it is" that the previous games have been. Sure it might be .03 shittier, but no new floor of shit has been broken. I love DOR and both Wrestle Kingdom games, so I know Yukes isn't totally incompetent, but it's clear there is something happening that is keeping these games from really being improved. Insert conspiracy here.

The series took a turn for the worse when THQ decided to heavily involve themselves in the creative process. Up until 2004, the SmackDown games were planned and developed almost entirely by Yuke’s. The Day of Reckoning and Wrestle Kingdom games are good because they are also “pure” Yuke’s products. When left to their own devices they are capable of making some pretty good games.

The engine is dated because 2K won’t shell out for a new one, the mocap/“janky animations” are done by 2K, and the character models are created by 2K, yet Yuke’s is the one who gets shit for all of those things.

Funny. The game is much glitchier for me, roster is worse, and worse story mode than 14. Also worse creation options. This is the worst wrestling game Yukes has ever put out. You have to go back 14 years to name a good Yukes game. Think about that.

Wrestle Kingdom 2 was in 2007, which I think was a good game. Are you having the same sound glitch that I had?

Also, do the DS and PSP ports count in this semantic race to the bottom?

This I agree with. It's a shame that in the generation of region free consoles we never got a good japanese game. I guess the 360 version of Wrestle Kingdom kinda counts.

Not quite.

2007 - Wrestle Kingdom 2
2005 - Day of Reckoning 2, Wrestle Kingdom
2004 - Day of Reckoning
2003 - Here Comes the Pain, WrestleMania XIX
2002 - Shut Your Mouth
etc.

I've probably played every wrestling game ever made, and I'd rank all of those among my favorites.

Wrestle Kingdom 2 was in 2007, which I think was a good game. Are you having the same sound glitch that I had?

I've had several sound glitches. Commentary is spliced in and is a different volume and you hear background noise from where they were recording. Cesaro's swing audio stops at 7 and the hit the mat sound happens while Cesaro is still swinging. I've had the commentary call a move before the ai even did it. I've had the delayed sound glitch. Have you tried Neville's running square strike? He just falls to the ground. My moves rarely connect when I'm running diagonally across the ring. Have you had the glitches where you teleport into the computers moves yet? Or his body contorts around yours and you end up in a move of his?

The WWE license was bought by 2k in February 2013. They've had almost 2 years to plan and release a current gen version on PS4/XB1.

That's not a tremendous amount of development time, either.

I probably shouldn't defend Yuke's given its history. But yearly game updates/editions are very, very tough to pull off.

Oops got some years mixed up. So it's been 7 years since they released a decent wrestling game. I can't comment on the Wrestle Kingdom series since I never played it. Firepro and Giant Gram are the last imported wrestling games I've played. Looking up some videos of Wrestle Kingdom does make it seem better than any wrestling game they've made lately.

HCTP wasn't a good Yuke's game? Smackdown vs Raw 2006 wasn't a good Yuke's game? The latter wasn't HCTP or SYM before it and had its share of issues but it still wasn't the shitshow that followed for years after when the series moved to being multi-platform. Day of Reckoning 2 also came out in 2005 along with SvR2006, last game for THQ decided to take the Smackdown series multi-platform. You keep focusing on Yuke's while not acknowledging 2K's role in this, they're both to blame, it's pretty much 50/50 since 2K is in charge of everything outside of what WWE commands.

EDIT: D'oh, too slow.

Other devs not only released yearly sports games on last gen systems, they also released ones for PS4 and XB1 last year. If anything Yukes had more time than other developers to refine their game.

To be honest WWE 2k14 wasn't that bad. The gameplay was still horrible, but the Wrestlemania mode, Beat the streak, huge legends roster, and all the other options made it fun once in awhile to do a match. This years game is worse in every way.

This thread has become as predictable and recycled as a Yukes release. :(

Well its less carny than having Big Show go out at the smack down tapings and tell the crowd to chant yes for Daniel Bryan since he is home healing to make him feel better and then using the yes chants and crowd reaction to put over Vince's network announcement.

I'll gladly do the hobbies I want, pal. I'm clearly more invested in these games than you as I've actually spent money to rent this game compared to you who hasn't. Maybe instead of just saying how great the series is and how great the current gen version will be, why don't you actually play the game?

it's kinda weird how obsessed you are about hating this game though, every page of this thread has multiple posts by you, like yeah, it a shitty game, i agree but come on.

It's because wrestling has a ton of fans and for a lot of us, there isn't a single game that can serve us. I think you'd see the same if Madden had shit gameplay and took out a bunch of modes once it made the transition to PS4 as there wouldn't be any other games to gravitate towards. Fortunately, there's enough anger on the 2k forums as well, but it will mean dick if the game still sells well.

If we just get one good engined wrestling game in English this generation, no matter the license, I'll be a happy man.

Am I naive in thinking that maybe you guys should create accounts on the official 2K message board and post your lengthy list of legitimate complaints there as well?

If I had to guess theclosetfan might be on the 2K boards as one of the people going into complaint threads to tell them how lucky they are to get a game on 360/PS3 in the first place. Because there is a lot of that on the official boards.

Can't wait till they take out the crawling mechanic in 2K16

It's always funny to be that they remove small neat features from previous games instead of building on it. SvR2006 had that sleeper hold mechanic where the ref would raise your arm and the double KO. HCTP had weight detection, 2007 had the fighting in the crowd, 2009 had a tag team mechanic. Than I think the 3 stages of blood. Why can't we get a game with all these features? It boggles my mind

Motherfucker you should be grateful that 2K has seen fit to grace you with a copy of the game on last-gen consoles. So what if it's inferior in almost every way to it's immediate predecessor? There's only so much that the developers can do! Just wait til next year when 2K takes full control of the franchise and gives us the true successor to No Mercy/Here Comes The Pain!

If only man, if only.

Hell, while I'm not a big fan of theirs, I think I enjoyed the TNA Impact game more than any Yukes game last gen. I wouldn't mind them seeing them get another shot, but unfortunately the chances of that are less then zero.

Crowd thing was weird. They should definitely incorporate something with the backstage at least in future titles. Not talking about the backstage matches, either. The tag thing added in the hot tag, right? It's still there, but doesn't change no matter who is in the match... so it animates the same. Also would like more options online, blood being one.

The threads get closed when people do. They've actually came out and admitted, after the game is released of course, that they didn't focus on the PS3/360 version. They basically admitted they didn't give a shit about that version. Yet they cared enough to release it because of greed and they cared enough to make a shitload of dlc for it. They cared enough to take out modes. There has been alot of lies and deception about this game from them on both last gen and current gen. The game is gold and they are fucking showing 3 entrances a week. Entrances I might add that look horrible with slowdown, poor crowd and ref models, and off colors on things like the IC belt.

They take it out so they can add it in with a new feature in a few years. These games should be fully loaded with content right now. The games from 10 years ago let me fight from the ring out to the damn street in one fight. They let me have intergender matches. They had better animation. They had better selling.

Yeah I don't get it either. I mean, as much as they recycle content these games should be loaded with features.

Thank you! I've read that Bray Wyatt is one of the top new guys these days, wanted to get his complete version in 2K14. Which, glitches aside, is a really fun wrestling title.

Bray Wyatt's moveset is in 2k14 as "B. Wyatt" under the pre-set move sets. You don't have to make your own. It's a weird mixture of Luke Harper's and his movesets though, unless Wyatt did the alligator roll at some point.

Superstar Stuido Trailer Released

Ok, some of that stuff is damn cool.

Looks like you can make outrageous CAWS. If it wasn't for the limit I think VGCW would be fine using the next gen version.

Edit: Made a new thread since this is new enough news to warrant one.

The "entirely new engine" thing is becoming harder to believe. Why is it the only custom animation left is QUIET, I'M ON THE PHONE like the PS3 version? Why would they go through the trouble of creating that for an entirely new engine but not create anything else? Or is it just a copy paste job with removed options like before.

..But the creation thing looks neat. The picture thing seems like a decent way to import stuff that's not photorealistic as long as it's not always super transparent. I am a bit worried that you won't be able to create women. I wish they would have showed that off a little bit too.

If anything the lack of most of the entrances makes me think that they did throw a lot of stuff out for the next gen release. It is kind of weird that one of the few they would port over is the phone one though. That's kind of hilarious.

There is also the video of Randy Orton's next get entrance animation being the same as 2k14.

I've seen some speculation that maybe they had to re-jig the entrances to make them work with the new ring size. No idea why QUIET, I'M ON THE PHONE would survive that culling process though.

It isn't an entirely new engine. They are working you more than the carny sports entertainment organization they are trying to represent in the game. Exact same animations for entrances and still flooded with glitches in the gameplay. There is a reason they won't show gameplay.
