I actually had no idea about that, thanks. Well. Stalin also had labor camps that dissenters got thrown into, Mao did too though.Stalin does literally mean "Man of Steel" tho.

Yeah I'm hoping what this season is building to is an epic pay off. I actually quite like Kuvira but I'll be let down if all this boils down to Kuvira vs Korra over her wanting power. Surely this season has to bring things around for the entire series. That it's building towards something that will feel satisfying for the series overall. I hope lol
I keep thinking there will be more. To be fair I have liked how they brought up Korras past enemies and how each of them had issues they fought for that Korra didn't really solve/resolve.
So far she's chairman Mao with those propaganda posters all over the place. She hits Stalin tier when they start erecting statues in her honor. I actually read like every KorraGaf thread before I joined. By the end of season 2 you guys were like beaten dogs.
I really liked that, too. Of course, I think Korra should've figured that out on her own, but it really brings it together in a "full-circle" kind of way in relation to the Book's title "Balance". They were all out of whack and didn't have any. Kuvira is the same problem. She brings order, but she has her hands hovering over anywhere in the Empire just waiting to bring her fist down when something arises she doesn't want.
As for hoping for something that will bring the entire franchise to a great conclusion, I have some serious doubts. If we can get something as good as Book 3's end, I'll be happy. Just as long as they don't waste Kuvira's character, of course. ;D
stan for cartoon hitler![]()
I actually wouldn't mind that. I want to see the Rekuviracation camps as well, slave labor and all. I hope she's making people work in acid mines. If they're going to make her blatantly evil at least have fun with it...torture Bolin too before he gets rescued please. The implication being that's not two episodes from now.
I still think Book 2 should have been Book 4. If it was written better after Book 3 and 4, then Harmonic Convergence could have been one hell of a way to end the series.
Who is to say that Kuvira won't so something crazy with those Spirit vines that could impact the globe?
But yeah, Harmonic Convergence was so big, it would've been great as a finale of the show. Kaiju battles and all.
They have always approached each season as its own thing. So I always imagined that this season would be no different. That it would be a singular conflict. So Korra vs Kuvira which makes sense. But it's like, damn THIS IS THE END OF the entire series. I just kind of wish that it built up to something slightly more (on top of their conflict).

Kuvira will probably eat her spirit vine enhanced wheaties and bust out some Kamehameha's.Who is to say that Kuvira won't so something crazy with those Spirit vines that could impact the globe?

Regardless, I'm not going to hold out much hope. Bryke aren't exactly the best writers, and while I do enjoy the show a lot, I don't expect any depth to it whatsoever.Yeah true. The conflict could escalate into something much bigger. Thing is, if they really wanted to, the whole political aspect of this plot could have wider implications across the world and become a bigger conflict.
I guess I'm just waiting to see how this plays out. If it will just be a small scale Kuvira vs Korra fight (power hungry crazy person vs the Avatar), or if they flesh it out. To be clear, I'm not expecting miracles. I think by this point, we can already tell the political aspect of this won't have a ton of depth.
But I'm still hoping that they do SOMETHING with the conflict to make it feel a bit more epic (and I think you are right, the spirit vines will probably play into this).
Kuvira can do and be anything, bro.Kuvira will probably eat her spirit vine enhanced wheaties and bust out some Kamehameha's.
That little smirk at the end.

Yeah, I probably should stop holding on to hope. Lol you are right, this is Bryke we talking about here. Ah well. I just hope that at the very least, the season is at least entertaining.
Kuvira and her awesome smirks.
And welcome back Azula! Glad things are going smooth for you now.
Batman Beyond is technically a children's show. Fox's Xmen cartoon from the 90's is a children's show. Star Wars Clone Wars is technically a children's show. All written way better than Korra. Korra even got out done by Kill La Kill when it at least came to focusing on characters.Yup. We've dropped our standards for children's television so low.
But that's part of why I don't expect much from this show, too. It just doesn't help that Bryke is not the best at storytelling. =(((((

whoa whoahahoahohoh
i love 90s xmen but in no way was that cartoon better written than korra. have you seen it recently?
If you can get past the fanservice Kill La Kill isn't that bad. Once Clone Wars stops being a kids show it get pretty damn good. Oddly the season's start well, mediocre middle's but they end well. Season 5 was fucking awesome..True enough, I suppose. I never watched Clone Wars (beyond the episode "Rookies", though I really liked it), and I barely remember Batman Beyond when I saw it as a kid.
Don't know jack about Kill La Kill, though.
Nostalgia goggles. It's watcheable, but it's poorly written I admit. I'm just saying it's pretty good for a children's cartoon. It has it's moments though and Vaatu was a wannabe Apocalypse.whoa whoahahoahohoh

I didn't start watching Korra and then Avatar until I heard Platinum was making a gang out of it. I watched it as a curiosity because the first season was on Amazon Prime as was hooked after the first episode. I don't hate Korra at all, it's just got its short comings. That's what I heard. But I don't want to jump into or binge another show right now. =(
How the hell Korra managed to get into my schedule is amazing.
lol hahahahahhahha!!!!! I'm Cyclops tier asshole!!! Would I get complaints for liking Gargoyles as well?

Nah, man.Fox's Xmen cartoon from the 90's is a children's show. Star Wars Clone Wars is technically a children's show. All written way better than Korra.
Gargoyles was amazing, so no.
Greg Weisman needs to stop doing cartoons. He is a wonderful storyteller whose choice of medium never lets him finish his stories.
Azula, it's great to see you're back.
wtf it's only monday......why is this wait so damn looooooooooooooooooooong?
Blow burns=more invested and bigger finales.
Or at least I hope.
Yeah, I liked Gargoyles too. And thanks. Did we all like Darkwing Duck too?
EDIT: I guess we are taking about adult cartoons. Muh bad.
If you can get past the fanservice Kill La Kill isn't that bad.
Am I the only one that actually liked Clone Wars here? I'll admit the kiddy episodes are shit, but when they drop those episodes and stick to an actual fucking plot it's pretty damn good. There's always build up and time spent on very relevant things. Villains are villains, but they do (minus Palpatine) evolve pretty well.Nah, man.
Nah.
It has a killer intro, though.
Sounds like I really need to see Spectacular Spider-man. Wasn't Swat Kats pretty decent? Granted I haven't seen that in years...like a lot of years so probably hasn't aged that well. Why am I just now remembering Centurions? Fucking childhood nostalgia.Okay, everyone say top cartoons. In no particular order:
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Gargoyles
Young Justice
The DCAU as a whole
Spectacular Spider-man
There are more, but those immediately spring to mind. As you can see, I am big on superheroes.
First few seasons of Spongebob was god tier television.
I don't know if I could do that, but knock off Young Justice (haven't seen it), and your list is pretty much what mine would look like. Maybe more Courage the Cowardly Dog or Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated.Okay, everyone say top cartoons. In no particular order:
