Its interesting because it was a 2.8 average, but then after the user score page was posted on the sonic forums it started getting all these positive reviews.

Metacritic user reviews are the most worthless metric in quality ever. You either get all these perfect 10's for a rather mediocre game because it's Sonic, or loads of 0's because the game developer said some mean things on Twitter. Fez is good, dammit

Yeah, he was pretty vocal on hating Lost World. He is not in the right at all.
This is a terrible kids game.
Edit: Also comparing this to Skylanders/Lego is like saying Family Guy is on the same level as South Park/Seinfeld.
Replace South PArk with seinfeld and you have an apt comparison.

Everything in the actual game is failing to render, but the UI stuff is rendered separately and still shows up. 10/10

It is hard to compare the 3DS game to any other Sonic game. Did she like Yoshi's New Island? Then she will probably like Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal.

The 3DS version is pretty good but its the Wii U version you want to skip. Either that or get it at $20 or less.

I have never played 06, but it does seem a lot more frustrating/less fun than Sonic Boom.
Maybe Sonic 06 was better than I was lead to believe.
Sonic Boom isn't a good game, but I do find it strange to hear people say

...well, from footage that I have seen...and admittedly that's what a lot of people saying Sonic Boom is worse are basing their opinions on
Imma make a "bold" prediction about future plots: So sonic and knuckles will continue arguing about team name, during one of those future shadow related plots the producer talked about on the sega forums. Sonic and knuckles will argue, the shadow will say something like
And then if its TV show, the arc is about him, if its the game thats when you play as him if you weren't already. I know that isn't the most generic toy commercial writing you have ever seen, so it fits the magnificent sonic boom , pefectly.

Honestly Sonic 06 is not as bad as people make it out to be. Sure it isn't good in any form, but given some more time it could have been a decent game.
Rise of Lyric I do not think would have been any better with more development time. That is why I think it is worse than Sonic 2006. A good game hidden in a game riddled with glitches and bugs > A bad game that is mostly polished.
Yeah, I tried to convey the same idea you said. I would say given a year more of production, Sonic 06 would have done better with it than Rise of Lyric.

Glitches weren't the only thing that made 06 bad, but certain parts felt fairly Sonicy. It's not so poorly regarded for purely gameplay reasons though. It'd be a bad but not terrible game if you somehow took out load times, glitches, incredibly lazy side missions/Town sections ("HEY"), and the awful awful story. And the ridiculous unlockables that were A) grindy as SHIT to get and B) broke the hell out of the game
I honestly have to agree with you there. Sonic Boom has made me realize that Sonic 06 is a guilty pleasure, it's not great but there is a bit of good in there. Meanwhile Boom could have had more development time but I don't think it would have mattered.

That LP is as far as my experience with the game goes and that one demo I played in a kiosk that was awful (a silver level)
There's something about the controls that seem so much worse than what. I've played so far and Sonic Boom doesn't have lives or the horrible load times.
Sonic Boom definitely feels like a game that could've been better with more time. If it was locked at 30fps, had smoother transitions from cutscenes to gameplay, less glitches, better visuals, then it could be a solid Jak & Daxter-ish platformer.
Right now it feels like a PS2 platformer, with similar performance and visuals but more glitches. A few tiny modifications like stealing a few ideas from

That level has got to be a simulation of one of hell's nine circles. Although, no sin is equal to that festering abomination of a level.

In that sense you're right. Sonic 06 is like, you run out of lives and then you have to do the whole fucking stage again, in Boom if the game glitches out worst case scenario you have to go back a checkpoint.

It sounds extremely uninspired to me, and the songs can repeat for far too long.
