Sonic Boom |OT| Sonic 2014

I really don't wanna see any vids as I don't wanna get spoiled, but seriously? I've only encountered 3 glitches in my entire play through so far, save for one I am going to talk bout now.

Before getting the plane, a plant of Doc Ginger's flickered for like 2 seconds.

How are people finding these things? is Knuc a glitch, or an exploit?

Well, someone just beat the game in 50 minutes and its been out for a day. So

The music is missing that sonic flare...if that makes sense lol.

Totally. I just hear a completely mediocre "adventure game" score.

Even the worst Sonic games have incredible soundtracks. Sonic '06, Secret Rings, even Black Knight had some really incredible tracks.

This is just boring.

When a Sonic game doesn't even have decent music, you've got a real stinker on your hands.

But Secret Rings isn't one of the worst Sonic games. Who's gonna rock the place?

I had a thought for a moment. Sonic Boom vs. Pac-Man & the ghostly adventures. They're both TV series tie in platformers.

The major glitch seems like an accidental find kind of glitch but there game has lots of minor off the beaten track types of glitches, an example of one (as some people are actually playing the game)
in "mystic cave" we saw Amy skip the combat area by going up the damaging vines and eventually the vines stopped having damage programmed in suggesting they thought nobody would go along them

Did I read the credits right in that the QA was one person? Edit: It seems other saw what I did...

51 minutes.
I kind of want to speed run it now. Don't want to ruin my Gamepad doing that though.
Don't know why I can't use my perfectly functional pro controller in these sonic games on Wii U despite being supported in other modes :\
It seems if you opena chest, save and quit, it does not save that you opened a chest.
This Game!
If you leave an area and you come back it resets the chests. The chests only contain scrap metal which you can get from beating enemies and you can lose scrap metal from dying/falling in the water

I just realized a hole in the story...
Sonic does not recongnize Lyric at the start. He later travels back 1000 years to imprison Lyric. Therefore, he should recognize Lyric at the start. TIME TRAVEL IS BULLS**T!
Okay, I'm as eager as the rest of you to lambast this piece of garbage, but... that's not really a plothole.
You don't retroactively gain memories of what your future self did in the past. You haven't done them yet to have memories of them - that's why it's your future self doing them, not you.

I'm geinuinely being serious when I say my playthrough of Sonic 06 was near glitch free. Or at least meaningful glitch free. I never encountered a glitch in Sonic 06 that affected the actual gameplay. Some people are just good at avoiding these kind of things I guess.

The same. There were some scripting segments I broke in Wave Ocean, but my play through was generally uneventful. I quickly learned in Wave Ocean not to touch the controller when the scripted events take control. Learning how Mach Speed sections handled (poorly) set me straight on what to expect in the future. All in all a cautious trek through an unpolished maze of melodrama. Of course once I went looking for glitches, shit hit the fan. It's a great game to throw on with friends and some beers and exploit for unintentional madness and entertainment. I'm hoping Boom fits into a similar role. It's looking like it.

Somehow I just managed to get a weird glitch where Sonic was in his speedy water form, but on land. This should be a feature.

Thank you for linking to Parax0's stream. I needed a good laugh today.

I'm not a Sonic fan, so I can't say if this game is bad or not. But it sure doesn't seem that hard to break... Every other time I look back at the stream, it seems like he's triggering some kind of glitch.

I'm with Huelen in the "This game isn't shit" camp. I've finished 3 levels and I'm actually enjoying it.

How is that a plot hole? Sonic hadn't
imprisoned Lyric yet so how would he recognize him?

I just want to know the mindset of only hiring one guy to test a game for bugs.

I'm betting a lot of it isn't their fault.

This is not to say they're good developers or anything, but this game clearly had a hard date that was not to be negotiated, clearly had no time for testing or resources to do it, and was using an engine that had never had a retail release on the system and whose support company was falling into financial ruin all through this game's development.

They're also probably a team inexperienced at working together and working on a deadline. I would not be shocked if this were another X-Men Destiny situation, where the developer simply assumed they'd be given extra time and the publisher went "Haha, nope."

Here are a few things I'd like to see if they ever make a sequel (the TV show is apparently doing well, so it could sell decently)
Improve the dodging mechanics
Add air dodge
Double tap dodge to run (at least for Sonic)
A bit more control in the mach sections. They work fine enough here, but it doesn't feel as good as it should
Overhall the camera....because come on now, it's 2014, we shouldn't have PS2 era camera issues.
Fix the Ring count thing, the last 2 sonic games have messed with that for some dumb reason.
Add in a replenish able health bar like in SA2's mech levels that refill with rings
Release a finished product and I think that would be pretty decent.
basically copy a lot of stuff bayonetta 2 did because it did it so well

Is there any reason to use characters other than Amy (aside from the Knuckles glitch)? She's fast, she's strong, she has a triple jump, and she can reflect enemy projectiles.

Sonic's spin attack combo is the most fun to use in the game and by spamming that move you can move a bit quicker in the overworld (how can she reflect projectiles?)

Personally, I like to use all the characters. Sonic's homing attack is useful to get away and attack another enemy, while tails can recover and start the attack from a distance.

I think I use Tails and Amy for combat more than the others though.

I like Sonic the best, homing attack and spin dash are fun to smack enemies with and he can move faster than everybody else. Tails gets used when I'm traveling a long vertical distance because it's fun to hover, and Amy and Knuckles only get used when required.

there's missing levels, hub locations, cutscenes, all stuff shown off in press demos and released official screenshots.

something happened, something unlucky or extremely bad.

Deadlines happened, they likely wanted the game to come out at the same time as the show.

Whoawhoawhoa, this game looks like a steaming pile but I don't think there's any reason to compare the developers to Silicon Knights. Let's not say things we can't take back.

The main hub world we've been seeing for awhile (it was even in BRB's early prototype from a couple years ago) got a ton of promotion and coverage. Why would they cut it out?

It seems if you open a chest, save and quit, it does not save that you opened a chest.
This Game!

Does it save that you got content? that could be very useful.

Glitches and graphics aside, I really am enjoying the game. The world they made is really huge and the traversal sections are pretty fun.

It's really starting to look like they shipped a beta build.

In all seriousness, what's the likelihood of something like that even happening? Has a beta build ever hit store shelves before?

Does anyone else just feel sorry for the fans? We have a couple in this thread that despite all the signs of this being an absolutely awful game are still trying to enjoy it.

Reminds me of Episode 1. :(
