How good of deal is that really? According to Amazon UK, the PS4 Destiny bundle is 340 pounds. GTAV by itself is 45 pounds. TLOU remastered is only 33 pounds. So it sounds like all you really save is 15 pounds when you get the bundle. That doesn't sound like such a great deal to me.
EDIT: I forgot about the free year of Plus. WHich Amazon UK shows is normally 40 pounds. So that seems like what they are basically throwing in the bundle for free. So that does make it a better deal.

And there it is. A logical argument for why we don't have to hold a grudge when MS is obviously making amends. Are MS making amends for financial reasons? Well, yeah...but who cares? They've corrected course and, as Closing said, this is a luxury product. It's not food, it's not healthcare, it's not elections, and it's just not that important in the grand scheme of things.

I still despise Microsoft for what they tried to pull at the start of the generation. I still don't trust them. I also think that the longevity of the console wont be great because their pipeline is already lacking from the 1st party point of view.
Having said that, I own an Xbox one. Life is too short to hold grudges against products and companies if you can benefit from purchasing them without it being a burden financially. I prefer to be able to play Forza horizon 2 and have windows on my PC. The moment they decide to pull a 360 and cut 1st party support or revert back to their original "vision" I sell the console.
So anyone asking why people aren't still mad - a lot of us still are, but some of us can ignore that for the purpose of pursuing our hobby.

Pre-order numbers are the most objective type of data they could use to see if their vision for the console was in line with consumers. Like with every other product, the sales do the talking for a product.
Like with all consumer issues, voting with your wallet is the number one way to get a message through to a company. And I think the whole Xbox One situation is a good example of that, to see that consumers do hold the power and can force change that way.
Maybe this is going a bit off topic after a while, since it is not about sales. I hope that is not a problem.

I don't believe sony will "support" a console longer, Both companies will support something successful. Both companies won't support something unsuccessful. MS has great exclusives as well, IMO more that are worth while then sony has.
I'm all about rewarding a console make for making the right moves. MS changed all the BS policies they set early this generation. They have released steady updates to make the system perform and play better. They have the better online service imo.
I don't see the point in constantly going back to what a company has said in the past as a reason to not purchase a product when they clearly changed things for the better. if everyone was like you, more people should still be mad at sony for the PS3 costing so much, removing features, and flat out lying about launch game visuals.

Lol Pretty much, yep. We live in an age where con artists and criminals have essentially taken over most corporations and big banks. That feeling you get that every corporation on the planet has a business model based on fucking you in the ass? Its accurate.
That said, Microsoft does deserve some special kudos for being so consistent in their anti-consumerism. They did attempt to make it right, yes, and for that also deserve credit. But not because there is suddenly a special place in their hearts for gamers...rather, because their anti-consumerism finally went so far they essentially fucked themselves in the ass and sales have taken a beating compared to PS4 ever since.
Ive arguably gotten more fun out of my Xbones so far than my PS4s, but at the same time I have no delusions about either giant multinational corporation. The only thing that makes them do the "right thing"...ever...is competition. So, in my estimation consumers do have a certain responsibility to exercise their influence over the actions of corporations by voting with their wallets and by loudly voicing displeasure at companies which take the expected corporate fuckery a bit too far, as MS most certainly did. In other words, I get it that it gets old hearing people bitch n moan about MS...but MS definitely deserved to be called out for it. And the only reason MS changed direction is because of that loud and vocal group who decided enough was enough. And now, the market and most other apathetics are better off for it too.

It's arguable how much they've actually tried to make things right or change their tune. Almost all of the 180s have been begrudging reactions to consumers selecting against their product. Like that guy in that large post said, the attitude is still there, waiting in the back room. Price cuts, unbundlings and policy reversals don't make the product more compelling so much as mitigate how compelling the *other* box is by comparison. Of course, MS' woes are a complicated mix of getting caught red handed with anti-consumer intentions as well misreading what the market was really interested in.
I think Nintendo has taken a much better strategy to responding to misreading the market, by continuously pushing to make their product *more* compelling through insanely high quality software and maximizing their brand identity. Sony did a very similar thing last generation, and I think it will benefit Nintendo greatly if they stick it out.

Agreed, it was quite funny when Sony had a major grip on the music industry owning a lot of catalogs when they tried to DRM the whole business and were lobbying the U.S government as one example similar to MS, which neither was right.
Maybe they just prefer their games/os/controller/updates

You don't think Nintendo would drop the whole current strategy if they could get back the Wii success again? Because I think they would do that without even thinking. Granted, the Wii also had great Nintendo games of course.
But how is Microsofts strategy any different? They have had three great exclusive games this holiday (Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Halo, although with launch issues now that should never happen). They push monthly console updates with features people want also.
Sure, a moment might come that Microsoft goes full digital and that might be a bad day for consumers. But at that moment, those same consumers have the power to say "no, I don't want this, I get another platform to play my games on."
I guess we must have a very different view on what "very large margin" would be.
Myself I think XB1 should take November but I'd hate to put money on it given past upsets (such as TitanFall launch). I can't possibly imagine it being by a very large margin as if define it though.
All of Microsoft's anti-consumer stuff (first and foremost the removal of private property rights) hasn't disappeared, it's only been delayed. If consumers return Xbox to a strong position, it will make a comeback, sooner or later.

Because all I know is, that firstly the CEO of Microsoft was stepped down and secondly even the XBOX Chef stepped down.
Now, both the CEO of Micrsoft and the new XBOX Boss are new different guys, different leaders. also Microsoft launched XBOX Uservoice and even the preview program.
What on earth lets you think that after all those changes in the past few months, Microsoft is still the same, with the same Vision? I really don't get the "logic" behind that.

Microsoft's is different because if you track the history of their moves from the last year, *all* of their efforts to recapture market share have been predicated on price cuts and maximizing consumer perception as a pure "dollars to value" purchase. MS has put out some solid software but did it almost exclusively during a scheduled fall season and ancillary to its aggressive price cuts and bundling.
What's incredibly troublesome about this is that two of their biggest moves - the Titanfall bundle/price drop and the Sunset Overdrive price drop - overshadowed those major releases. It's a dangerous move, I think, because it creates the perception that MS doesn't have faith in its software to drive sales - a problem that I'd argue plagues the entire Xbox brand, and one that's going to hurt them more and more as they lose that market leader jewel for third party support. Comparatively, Nintendo has always stood behind its software, and it's kept them alive and popular even during their market lows.
People were estimating they had 2 million boxes in retailer storage as of 3 weeks ago when there were 7 - 7.5 million boxes sold to retail.

which MS literally had earlier this year - overship followed by stuffed channel followed by the need to pause shipments to correct. So it is understandable that these numbers are put under scrutiny.
Eventually sales will approximate shipped with a stable lag to allow for normal channel stock. But for MS and Xbox that is too volatile right now to put any meaning behind the numbers they announced.

We will never know what the exact thoughts behind the moves are. But you can also spin it the other way. Microsoft wants as many gamers as possible to play those games, so they drop the price.
Of course that is not what's happening, but the maximization of sales and profit is the goal in every company, small or large. Microsoft is trying to do that by making these moves and ship more consoles, so they can sell more games later.
Nintendo games are kind of like Apple products in a way. You don't see that many price cuts on them and they seem to hold value longer. That is one position to take, but it is not better or worse than another.
Comparing the release schedule between the two, both are releasing their main games in fall. That is normal, since there are more buyers in that period compared to other months. Nintendo released Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors and is readying Super Smash. Those are also three exclusives for the holidays, same as Microsoft.
