Someone is streaming GTA V on PS4

Just imagine

On absolute top-end SLI'd or CrossFireX rigs running @ 4K, Maxed out ultra settings on everything, sustained 60+ FPS and the inevitable community graphic mods, ala iCEnhancer, the PC version may overall look an entire generation beyond PS4 / Xbox One.

Nevermind much things as multi-monitor support, stereo 3D, Oculus Rift.

Nuts.

Meh, even on modest gaming PC GTA V will be amazing!

This is assuming out of the box quad-SLI suppport...

Quoting myself because I want someone to help me understand how this is reasonable:

I would think R* wouldn't have a case to take down a stream if the streamer never went in 1st person mode. How can you know if it is PS4 footage.

Also I still don't understand how R* has permission to request streams be taken down when customers legally purchased their game. How is any of this player friendly? What the absolute fuck, can this be a movement? If I get your game early because I purchased it from a retailer and their shipping messes up you should not be able to censor my videos?

Embargos are only for those who agree and sign (getting earlier copies to review). If I receive an early copy legally I should not be tied to any embargo restrictions. I did not agree with your contract and I would think it is grounds for a lawsuit for those who make money off of streaming games with the logic that they are receiving less views and less revenue.

So Dreamlock, when will your thread (with all the gifs/pics) be up?

And are there more proper PS4 screenshots out there (other than the prostitute screens)? Saw the 180 screenshots from the XO version, but would like to see more of the PS4 version for comparison.

30 gifs to go. It's going to land between 130-160 gfys/gifs.

I won't post that many screenshots, and only demonstrating the menu options. Think other people are doing a good job on that front.

It is very weird. I'm less confused about how they 'can legally' request take downs than I am about why they're even bothering. Unless there is some CRAZY new content that they haven't revealed anywhere that would be a huge spoiler, it has 0 negative effects for their company or sales of the game..

Haha I always burn my bodies and cars after if I have a chance in free roam. Just a bit of sim/roleplay or whatever. Same reason I reset the game if I die though lol.

Pig Mask? Check. Baseball bat? Check? Varisty Jacket? Nope... you gotta trade Trevor in his underwear for Franklin in a Varsity and go Hotline Miami on folks.

what is the benefit of reseting when you die these days? how would you do it on PS4?

I've been trying to understand this as well. I would get it if this was the first glimpse of gta V, period. But it's the same game, for the most part. A better looking game, with better performance and a new perspective, sure, but still the same game. If they're "afraid" someone might spoil the experience of others they should ban all the other 9 million gta V videos of people playing the past gen versions of the game. They're just being dicks about it.

I could understand a year ago. I even stopped myself from watching them. Only saw 2-3 and that's it, didn't want to get spoiled. This time around? No problem, just want to see how it performs, and how awesome everything looks in 1st person. Don't worry R*, I'll still buy your game, it was never in jeopardy. If anything, these streams will probably increase sales from people who were on the fence. It's fucking GTA, it prints money, gets glowing reviews and critical acclaim from fans and press all the time. No need to be dicks about this.

I really don't feel it's worth getting worked up over, they're allowing people to play the game, they just want to keep footage limited until launch.

It seems like if they could prevent people from playing early they would. Almost like Destiny's always online model where they have to turn on their servers. I just don't understand why they are trying to censor people from streaming a video game they own (even if they own the right to play the game and not the actual game would that not still give me the right to stream anything I'm allowed to play).

Truthfully I'm not getting upset I just think it is interesting that they can do this.

I truthfully don't understand their logic, it helps them more than it harms them.

It's GTA and it sells it self but honestly video game dev companies have been doing shitty jobs with PR this year. And this is an example. R* cannot restrict someone from playing yet they are pursuing this so hard.

Lots of streams on Live From Playstation atm.

Seem to be lasting awhile too

I think they are not caring anymore. This stream online for over half an hour right on the Playstation app lol

How can they stop them from playing? They would if they could.

Well I remember some people getting their online accounts banned if they played games too early, but usually they were unblocked on launch day.

I doubt Rockstar would do that though.

Hrm, as an aside, I wonder if it would add or subtract from the game if cops actually did go after you if they saw you run a red or speed?

I'd imagine it might subtract from the game, especially during missions, since most people like to act like a maniac so adding that would be too restricting.

I wasn't aware of that. That is scummy..But yeah, I don't think Rockstar would go that far, is it expressed somewhere that you can't play games before street date? Honest question. Cause if it's not, they're not breaking any TOS and that would be illegal. Off course, it's probably in the fine print no one reads, but still is scummy.

Ban pirates, but people who legitimately bought the game? Leave those alone. This is free publicity for R*. I know they don't need it, but it doesn't harm either. It's not like watching an hour of someone playing will make me say "ok, I've had my fill of this! no need to buy the game now :) "

They have to enforce their embargo, whether you like it or not, game websites abide to the embargo so that they can stay on good terms with Take 2, Rockstar, etc. Having some random streamers out there whilst game sites are hopeless is not cool for the game sites.

Why doesn't Sony prevent games from being played before the actual release date?
Seems like a no brainer to do, online preorders already work that way.
No game to play = no stream, problem solved

What's the problem?

People are actually upset others are streaming atm? Yikes

But what about sites that do not agree to the embargo and are just open streaming sites that don't specialize in video games?

That's one thing I'm happy they never implemented. GTA is meant to be fun, if you have to control your speed everytime you see a cop it would break the flow and make everything boring. Like Mafia, I couldn't stand that noise. Speed Limiter my ass.

But then comes some cognitive dissonance. Punch 3 people, get one star. Shoot 3 people dead, get one star. Why the same sanction?

Stare at a cop for more than 4 seconds in GTA V will net you 2 stars. From doing literally nothing. I never understood why. Was it a bug they never fixed, or just some satire/parody on the LAPD for being trigger happy? It wasn't like this in GTA IV. Everyone in Los Santos is on the edge. Stare at some playa for 3 seconds and he will threaten you and then try to shoot you/beat you up. Women will go away. Even fucking bums will feel disgusted if you invade their personal space for a few seconds. Man, LA is cold. Though town, tough town.

Dehumanizing stares should get 5 stars, TBQH

No, but it puts extra work on Twitch when Sony can just block the game from being played in the first place.

What if I bought the game legitimately and decided to play without streaming on the couch surrounded by buddies, should my game get blocked? Pretty plausible scenario.

How are you gonna stop my mom and pop shop from selling it to me first thing in the morning, come monday? Will they send special agents to escort me out of the store? It's impossible to stop this from happening, all stores must have the game in stock before the release, and every gamestore clerk probably has a copy at their place for a few days already. Maybe a lot of the streamers work at stores. You can only control that on the digital marketplace, another reason why I prefer retail, physical releases.

Oh, no benefit... it's just a artificial rule I play with for story/flavor/roleplay reasons. I just reload the last save file if I die.

they don't make resets like they use to I was think about autosaves at the point of death would ruin this rule as well. I was just curious as to which process you take exit to menu or hit the power button

What the fuck is this self righteous bullshit??? People like this need to be punched in the throat.

There are 9 GTAV streams according to live from Playstation. This latest one for nearly an hour and with multiple strip joint visits

With them cracking down on nude stuff and all that GTAV will be interesting with so many people heading to the strip club

Twitch doesn't really care about in game nudity. RL is what they don't like.

"<Insert Player's Name Here> is playing early. I wanna play too. This isn't fair. I'll show them."

Meh. I couldn't care less if anyone plays the game early. This isn't the first time and it surely won't be the last. Some of these people reporting players for this may think they are doing some great thing but the majority of them just come across as entitled, whining kids.
