Lol at ppl gettin defensive over this.

But seriously though Em needs to get out more. Dude is very secluded besides tours maybe then he can snap back into reality and make good music again he still has it it's just somewhat there.

Please tell us how this is "lol" worthy. I didn't know someone saying they want to rape another person was funny.

And to think I actually know people who legitimately think he's the best rapper of all time. Sad world we live in.

smh @ people saying "oh... it's just Eminem, he always does this guiz!!!!"

let that have been T.I. or somebody

Bobby Shmurda's career would've ended mid-shmoney dance.

It is lol worthy people are getting offended at Eminem in 2014.

Play into his hand more.

This won't change anything, he's still gonna top the charts with his next solo album.

It's eminem for christs sake. You'd swear this was the first time he's said something like this.

Thing is, to be controversial, you gotta be in the scene. He stepped away way too long. He isn't on top of the current climate.

That's why the South Park guys can still rock that line, they've never stepped away, they're plugged in.

Yeah I mean...I'm not sure how it's news all of a sudden that he raps about raping women.

He's been doing this shtick forever.

Here's a song on his Relapse album called "Stay Wide Awake" from 2008.

He's playing a character (complete with accent) in that song. And the woman he's raping in that song is a fictional character, presumably.

I honestly like that song and will defend it. This latest track just sucks, and threatening to rape a celebrity is juvenile.

Doesn't he normally play the "Slim Shady" character whenever he says horrific stuff? Not just when he's doing an accent? And when he talks about personal stuff, he switches back to being Marshall.

As for Stay Wide Awake, yeah, it's actually one of the better songs on that album. It has a nice horror vibe to it.

What the fuck is this weakass shock value horseshit? This clown should stick to comedy.

Why does he even continue to make this trash? I understood when it was good business, but he's probably got more money than god by now. Why bother?

I hate you for making me look up Bobby Shmurda

He is great. See the lyrics 'swallow my pride' have two meanings. That's what makes him great.

It means literally swallowing his pride in a sort of abstract way, as though you could swallow it.

But it takes it to the next level because it also means swallowing his semen.

And that's not just a sexual act. That in itself has its own meaning.

It's the layers.

"I think with my d**k so come blow my mind" is kinda funny.

Honestly? who cares about this? publicity for both of 'em'.

Hey you guys I have this awesome concept for a song where I talk about forcing my ding-dong down an unwilling celebrity's throat. Do you think it will sell? Like, is there any reason it wouldn't or shouldn't make me a lot of money?

wow. layers huh. really makes you think.

He has been doing this for a long time now. It is funny that people are surprised. Is it okay to say? Probably not. He has also debatably said worse things. I don't personally mind or care but I can see why some would.

Mariah, whatever happened to us?
Why did we have to break up? All I asked for was a glass of punch
You see I never really asked for much
I can't imagine what's goin' through you mind
After such a nasty break up

With that Latin hunk Luis Miguel
Nick Cannon better back the fuck up
I'm not playin', I want her back you punk
This is Hello Kitty bedspread satin funk

Mixed with Egyptian, with a little rap and punk
Zap and Eric Clapton shaft brings Abba crunk
And yeah baby, I want another crack at ya
You can beat me with any spatula that you want

I mean I really want ya bad, you cunt
Nick, you had your fun, I've come to kick you in your sack of junk
Man, I could use a fresh batch of blood
So prepare your vernacular for Dracula acupuncture

In the bed with two brain dead lesbian vegetables
I bet you they become heterosexual
Nothin' will stop me from molestin' you
Titty fuckin' you 'till your breast nipple flesh tickles my testicles

Is what they said, to the two conjoined twins
"How's it going girlfriends, you need a boyfriend?"
You need some ointment, just set up an appointment
Who's gonna see the doctor first, we'll do a coin flip

I still to this day don't know why people like Eminem. The dude is whack as fuck, and his lyrics and songs are just as bad. But for some reason, people eat his shit up. Young Jeezy is and will always be the true Rap King.

Everything in that type of rap is meant to be enjoyed ironically. I knew that even as a teenager. I know a lot of listeners and artists don't know that though.

I mean "gangster rap". It's like a gangster movie. You get to enjoy watching bad people live a crazy life, but the existence of those films doesn't mean you're supposed to cheer for them as moral uprights or want to be like them. Of course that happens though (#teamWalt until the end, for example)

42 is pretty old and crusty. Does he have family/kids? Maybe it's time to move away from the shock garbage. "Keeping it real" or acting hard is archaic shit.

I wonder if the majority of his fans pay attention to his lyrics or just like the beat. I recall Purple Pills being edited for radio. Did anyone care? People still liked it didn't they?

Sounds like you have a pretty limited scope or frame of reference of rap.

Saw him headlining a music festival this past summer. He was clearly lip syncing nearly every song as if his performances are difficult. Fucking pathetic.

I get what he's saying though. Take fiction as fiction. Entertainment as entertainment. The real problem with the Iggy lyrics is they're not entertaining (well, as well as the low hanging fruit shock value stuff). I haven't heard them, but they aren't exactly his best.

The best Eminem songs are ones that tell stories. It's why Slim Shady LP is his best work.

"I don't care what you think as long as it's about me."

Standard publicity stunt, but Eminem should really be above this by now.

I dont think I understand rap music.

Is singing about raping and beating women supposed to be serious, or some sort of parody?

It doesn't come of as funny, just mean spirited.

I'm fine with this perspective, "it's all entertainment," but implying it's all caricatures is being a bit disingenuous.

Like everything else in life, it's all about what you get out of it. I think every artist, hip-hop or otherwise, has their moments where they are telling their story or at least delivering genuine parts of it, and if you attune yourself to that, you will quickly realize it's not all caricature. Problem is, a lot of the time it isn't novel. Other genres suffer from cardboard cut out love stories, hip-hop suffers from focusing on the come-up more often than not.

if anything iggy is making this a publicity stunt about her. this is standard eminem. she shouldnt have even acknowledged this if she did not care.

em said shit about rhianna and then did a song with her. rhianna gave no fucks.

No. I didn't mean all rap. Check my avatar haha.

I didn't want to call Eminem "gangster rap" because he's not really a gangster... but in retrospect I should have. That's what I mean - he's in that group of rap of talking about living that criminal life - which can be enjoyed ironically. Not everyone who listens to it and enjoys it actually supports criminality.

If you watch a slasher flick, it doesn't mean you laud murder.
