Classic is way better imo. A good mix of small and large battles.

Events are back which is really nice.

That's all I've played.

I miss that classic stages aren't themed (mario characters on mario stages, etc). But fighting 6+ enemies at once is a nice change of pace.

This game is glorius. So much so despite my eye fucking up due to cold I will continue to play it (ok not really...need to take something for this shit).

Lets talk about stages

- Palutena's Temple is too big but I still like it. Will be a fun fuck around stage. Probably best used as a 8 player match only..also timed.

- Mario Galaxy (forgot most of the stage names), is meh. I played it as an 8 player match so it was generally just chaos.

- Ridley Land : Ridley isn't as bad as the Yellow Devil but still is too much.

-Pikmin Level - Great..until the Crab strolls through. I'm not one to bitch about hazards but the crab does hamper this level...it kills hard.

- Elite 4 Stage: Pretty and the Hazards aren't too bad...Pacman (cpu) could handle the platforms rising to the sky and died constantly tho.

-Orbital Gate - Pretty but waaay too much going on...I will miss the staple fight on the great Fox stage more now. Still a fun stage tho.

- Donkey Kong Returns stage - Neat idea not sure if it fits in Smash tho. Then again I spent most of my time dying with DK (never could get his recovery to work lol)

Wii Fit - Nice and Simple. I like it.

- Skyloft - Nothing really stood out about it. That guitar version of the Skyward Sword theme tho

- Mario Circuit 8 - Ok I guess.

- PilotWings - Awesome favorite new stage by far

- Wii Resort - Has a ton of area that you travel too. Enjoyed fighting on it.

-Fire Emblem - Nothing amazing. Nothing bad. Probably will have some great tracks on it.

- Guar Planes - Way better than it was on 3ds. MetalFace didn't do much but talk mad shit, I even hit him a few times. That's fine with me.

- Smashville - Good simple stage.

- Gamer - Not as bad as one would think. Mom is easy to dodge...until she flies across the room. Bonus points for the signal music...shit is creepy as hell.

- Wrecking Crew - Tomadachi Life but with bombs and stuff. Meh

- Lost World - The Windmill section is off...if feels like one should be able to go further on that side. I still like the stage.

- Mario Level (3d world?) - Nabbit is a doo doo hea (totally not butthurt)

I might be missing some stages but yeah overall waaay better than the 3ds stages, I had to basically use omega mode for all of them there. It helps to have the better retro stages too (i.e Temple da bes)

Other things

- You can really tell there are new animations now. Link seems to really be remade from scracth too.

- The music is awesome.

- Online works like a charm with my ethernet cable. I had one laggy match (also my only win...sooooo) but everything after that was cool.

- I am apparently really really awful at Smash...who knew.

Going to get so much out of this game man...I am glad as Dragon Age was kind of a letdown (thank god for Gamefly) as have games in general (ironcially including Smash 3DS), This has lived up to the hype and thensome. I'll post my Wii U username to play some of you guys (It should be mik317 not sure tho).

wooooo

So when I can actually connect to a player, the matches were mostly smooth today (one match had constant slight input lag, another had one lag spike). However, for the past 10 minutes, I can't connect to anyone in any mode. I can still spectate, but not letting me into matches. Tried restarting everything, etc, no change in my internet connection either. Still feels better than Brawl at the moment, though, but wish there was a way to address the inconsistency. Also no way to check player connection ahead of time.

Edit: I'm also terrible at competitive Smash. Won only one match in For Glory out of ten, and many weren't even close. Back to XIV for me.

I do not accept For Glory as the defacto competitive mode that everyone else does. It's a good start, but I wouldn't give up so quickly. I much prefer 1 v 1 with items...because the game is actually fun.

Got home with my bundle. My gosh this game in person, vids don't do it justice. It is beautiful!!!!!! And having the GC controller feels good!!!! Will try the Wii U pro later. But man this game is gorgeous!

Nah, I'm just bad at Smash. I'm only okay when it's chaos with items where I can cheese stuff, but once it gets down to one-on-one, I'm just not quick enough with the inputs and I'm too predictable. I won't hold it against Smash, but I'm terrible at executing attacks in the right direction with authority. I always feel like half the time the wrong action comes out, but I'm not going to blame the game, I'll blame myself for being bad.

Edit: I didn't see it online right away, but can you see your opponent's record/stats?

put a few hundred hours in and you'll be rocking

Game looks beautiful, and I like the new Classic mode. Does the roulette spinning cheat not work on the Wii U version? I also find using the second stick on the Pro controller a bit weird compared to the GameCube controller.

so how does dark pit unlock?

Just play 40 or so matches?

All of the characters can be unlocked by playing 100 matches.

Gamestop didn't receive the gamecube adapter last night, so I'm hoping they'll receive it today at some point. Got a lot of people coming over tomorrow to play.

So how's the pro controller working for people? I've only used the gamepad so far, just for lack of time and to do amiibo stuff.

Can you use the right analog as a c-stick?

There are some songs from Wonderful 101, right? And a trophy.

I'll admit I was kind of hoping Moon River would make it in as a song.

Bayonetta DLC.

I'm so hopelessly addicted to that song. Unfortunately, that's a remix of an older song... so there'd be licensing fees to pay. I'd settle for tomorrow is mine, though.

Check out my sweet amiibo collection
;_;

Spectator mode broken for anyone else? I'm seeing 0% win rates on everyone, giving them a 10x multiplier.

Just made an easy 100k gold with it though, so I can't complain

So just in case anyone was interested in feeling some good old schadenfreude today... After waiting in line for close to 12 hours last night in the freezing cold at Nintendo World and buying the bundle and a couple amiibos, I go to turn on my wii u this morning and I got the dreaded blinking blue light of death.

And I had just been playing it a few days ago —with no problems whatsoever — rocking the new mario kart dlc stages. But today of all days, it decided to brick itself. After a long call with Nintendo customer service (during which they had the audacity to ask for a 99 dollar service charge which I negotiated down to 50 and then finally free) they said it should take 2-3 weeks at least until I get my precious Wii U back.

tl;dr - I hate my life, no smash for 3 weeks

Do we know for a fact that there ISN'T Bayonetta music somewhere in the game?

I don't think anyone's unlocked all of the music yet.

Honestly though, I'm sure there was a cutoff for adding music, and Bayo 2 just came out. Not sure if they'd dip into the Bayo 1 pool.

It's been working nicely for me. The only thing I haven't gotten used to is that grab and block. Feels off to me..Might reverse them.

It's completely fine, but as soon as my controller adapter shows up, I'm never looking back. It'll be great for 8-player Smash, though.

Where would they even put Bayo music? Like say, either Fly Me To The Moon, Moon River, or Tomorrow Is Mine. Can't think of anything off the top of my head.

Thanks to those who recommended this game to a newbie like me. I went and picked it up on my lunch break but unfortunately the guides were all sold out or accounted for via preorders.

There are multiple stages that take place in space. They seem fitting for Fly me to the Moon and Moon River.

Damn that gives me flashbacks to brawl launch. Went out to get the game in a blizzard, popped it in annnnd disc read error. I had to ship my Wii to Nintendo. I was devistated but luckily it didn't take to long. Hang in there man.

I can't play online because "an update is required", however I am not instructed on how to get the update. The system doesn't prompt me to download it, and I dont see it on the shop.

Should be automatic when the game is inserted.

Did you go digital?

Did you get prompted to update before the first time you booted the game? I definitely did.

Fucking 8pm. So garbage...

I'm gonna be mad if it's 8pm because i'm heading out of town for a smash bros party.

So my choices are... wait until 8pm and arrive hours late to the smash party, OR leave early and have an amazon box sitting on my porch overnight and miraculously not get stolen.

Welp I'm having a giant smash party in my apartment tonight. About 20 people are coming over and I will have 8 player smash on Wii U., 4 player Smash 64, and 4 player Melee all running simultaneously on 3 different displays in the same apartment. This should be pretty awesome and I anticipate many drinks will be had.

I think there will also be a few 3DS Smash people floating around. Never really had a gaming party before but I think I struck a good balance between good/novice players and guys/girls. I'll take pictures of the festivities.
