Can't wait to play this, most of the time with Shulk. But will play Samus/Link a lot too. Sadly I have to wait another month to play, someone is getting it for me for Christmas. :)

I put my samus amiibo to play against 7 players in 8 player smash constantly, to level up fast, she would win. But then I realized maybe she's not getting good at 1 v 1 since 8 players is chaos. I put her against Mario cpu lvl 9,she was like 20 I believe And she got 3 stock. She just kept pressing b and using her charger, spamming it, throwing little balls not charged. So I kept putting her against a samus cpu that knew what they were doing, she still lost but 2 games in she was now kicking, changing the blast to max and throwing it at the right time, not spamming it, started using missiles etc and just overall doing what the cpu was doing but better, she was owning

Then I got my new and improved samus amiibo (the copy ninja lol) against Mario again, and sure enough she was using her new moves and 2 stock him

Thanks for this impression! That sounds very cool. I'm very curious how it could store that information. There must be a good degree of simplification involved - maybe it's simple flags for a variety of moves the amiibo 'knows'. If it's say 128 bytes, then the flags could theoretically cover 1024 individual behaviours, like 'Up special' or 'throwing' or 'pokeballs'. Then the level would just adjust their proficiency overall.

No clue how but I had a blast just watching my amiibo grow!

75 M without the walkoff on the right hand side is so much worse. At least the walk off allowed matches to be over quickly.

And Palutena's Temple is New Pork City tier. Just an awful, awful stage.

Ridley is a party pooper, the worst aspects of both the Yellow Devil and Flying Man.

But the stage roster overall is better than the 3DS version.

Palutena's Temple is like a handful of independent stages on one map. If you cut it up into individual stages a lot of them would be pretty cool. I especially like the bottom right.

But the whole entire map itself is unbelievably huge. It is so hard to play.

Had some good fun with the game last night. The menus almost threatened that, because it took me forever to find where the single player options were, but I finally worked it out.

My skills have gotten really rusty for Smash over the years, so right now I'm just trying to get competent again.

Doc Louis should be in the background on the Wii U game the whole time, cheering Mac on Pokemon Trainer-style.

Actually, all characters should have that. Tails for Sonic, Aryll for Toon Link, Reyn for Shulk, Korrina for Lucario, etc etc.

I actually really wish they'd done that with Charizard and Lucario. They should've had Pokemon Trainers in the background cheering them on and giving orders, mainly because it makes absolutely no sense that they can Mega Evolve without a trainer's help.

Zelda/Mother/F-Zero got better selections in the 3DS version. The split development really shows.

They should have included Gerudo Valley, Magicant and Mute City in the Wii U version.

Three more stages would have made a big difference in that every major franchise would have had at least 1 "new" stage.

As for Palutena's Temple, I haven't played yet (I live in the UK), but it looks terrible, just like Great Cave Offensive. The problem is that characters always respawn in the same place, so 90% of the time, the fight is going to take place at the top of the stage. If characters spawned in random locations, both stages would be far better.

Also, why the hell did they choose to lock most stages in games with more than 4 players? If I want to play in a tiny stage, and let the game be a clusterfuck, then that's up to me. Locking a whole bunch of stages because it results in imbalanced gameplay is telling people how to play the game, which is bullshit. It's also inconsistent with the presence of Special Smash mode. So 8 players on an average sized stage is imbalanced, but 4 players who are all giant-sized, invisible and breathing fire is fine?

Plus, from what I gathered in the 50-Fact Nintendo Direct, you can't even access all of the stages in Omega mode. Why the hell not? The whole point of that mode is to balance all of the stages and make them all viable/play the same.

At least people don't exclusively hang out near the walk-off now. That was a campy stage.
The reason people stayed up near the walkoff was because the rest of the stage was a pain in the ass to navigate and fight on. Now the one tolerable place on the stage is gone and we're left with a stage that's just a pain in the ass to navigate and fight on.

I will admit, its pretty cool being able to set up a few matches to watch my amiibo fight while I eat so it still feels like im progressing with something in Smash even when not having to physically play, lol.

My Samus is level 21 I believe, hows yours going?

I still can't believe that the announcer doesn't say Super Smash Bros. on the title screen. I let it slide for the 3DS, but this is messed up.

They fixed Conquest? We can no longer see the realtime scores, which should prevent front-runners from skewing the results. Did they also change this in the 3DS game?

At max lvl 50 already, can our amiibo fight online?

BTW I do the same thing, watch it fight as I do something else lol, take the game pad with me

The final scoring system in Smash Tour is inherently broken. It solely goes off of KOs.

Example: In the final battle, I had seven characters, P2 had two, P3 and P4 had one each. During the battle, I KO P2 and P3 while P3 eliminates one of P2's characters and P4. So P3 and I both have 2 KOs each. Despite the fact that everybody's characters have been depleted, I am thrown into a sudden death match with P3, which I subsequently lose. P3 is declared the winner of Smash Tour. Uh, did we not just spend 20 turns collecting characters and boosting their stats? How is P3, someone I straight up eliminated in the final battle, the winner over me who had SEVEN characters still in reserve and I didn't get KOd AT ALL in the final battle until sudden death? It feels like the board game aspect is completely pointless if you can just get lucky in the last battle.
If you got less KOs than other players/CPUs despite surviving longer by having more stocks, then you deserve to lose. The scoring rewards the better player.
If I remember right, I think he did
Nope.

Just got R.O.B. via 10 rounds of Crazy Orders. My advice is Giant Battles + Link since his Smash attacks have Hugh knock black.
Now only Pittoo left...

Is there a best place to get this right now in the US? I am looking at toys r us since they are doing the 40% off with another game and I assume it could be applied against an Amiibo.

Yeah, horrible fucking stage either way though. I just hated 90% of matches taking place offscreen with the walk-off.

Gotta say, Little Mac is without a doubt my fav new character, Mega Man coming in 2nd. Although I miss the old Cap. Falcon "Come on!" taunt...

Link is a old standby though, and he's better than ever.

I spent a lot of yesterday playing and it's fantastic. I need to practice though. I need to learn the roster more, and I keep making a bunch of mistakes. Anyone have any advice on shiek, greninja, and zero suit? Also, it feels like they shrunk marth's range a bit, is that true?

My ID is omegashockwave27 feel free to add me!

No online amiibo support :(

I havent unlocked any of Samus' custom abilities, is there a way to get ones specificly for a character you want or is it just randomly rewarded in certain modes?

With so many people asking for how to unlock characters & levels I'm just wondering; aren't there usually multiple ways to unlock these things? In Brawl there was definitely 2-3 ways to unlock every character (like play Adventure until you find him, Classic or just a number of regular brawls).

First couple matches were slide show levels of lag but after that it was perfect. Spent a lot of time in team battles for fun.

I still have no idea what I'm doing in most matches tho. I "main" Samus, in the loosest sense of the word.

I feel like I play her more as a zoner, is that how she should be played? Would another character be a better for for that playstyle?

Can anyone help me out and tell me how to unlock Dr. Mario? I googled it and read he appears after 60 matches or by completing the classic mode using Mario at at least the 4.0 difficulty. I did the latter and nothing happened. Did I do something wrong or miss something?

There usually is multiple ways of unlocking characters (in Brawl it was either a set number of Vs matches, finding the character in Subspace or a third method that differs from completing Classic to beating an event).

Samus is okay to play as a zoner, but Link or Toon Link would be better. You also have Robin as another option as a zoner. Samus really sorta... got nerfed as a zoner because her missiles don't cancel on landing anymore and they're much too laggy to really be used to control any amount of space. Meanwhile Link and Toon Link can throw bombs constantly and use the boomerangs to harass people. The main difference between Link and TL is their speed so... you'll have to figure out who you like better from that.

...I think Doc Louis looked a lot better in the 3DS version. On Wii U, he looks like he just smelled something nasty.

Doc looked like he was drawn by a racist in the 3DS version

Currently sitting at 422 songs. What was the number in the Direct? 437? I guess it's plausible that's the final number, but it'd mean a decent number of Brawl music cuts...

Little Mac looks like the actor who plays Roy Harper in Arrow and Doc Louis U > Doc Louis 3DS. 3DS Doc looks almost like a racist depiction of himself.
