Using a wig is an awful idea.

Holy shit, after watching the rest of the video, I think Kane unmasked had better 'hair' than Sting tonight.

WWE's sound mix subdues pops as well.

Add in debuting guys outside of their big towns and what are you gonna do

edit: and no JR. JR fucking sells the shit out of returns SO GODDAMN GOOD

It's not just that, Ross would have sold the injustice of Triple H's actions beforehand to the Nth degree.

Sting's appearance was just 5, maybe 10 years too late to get a serious pop from the WWE Universe audience. It would have been like seeing Terry Funk come out in the late 90s/early00s. Just some guy you heard about but never really cared enough for. The reaction was a lot more mild than I expected. Diesel's token appearances at RR a few years back got much louder pops.

Huh? The pop sounded really loud to me. Everyone was super excited the whole way through rather than just pop for the entrance and then die, too.

People need to understand that wrestling in general is not like the 90s anymore. There's no ultra crowd reaction anymore because the WWE killed it. When you constantly go to events where there's restrictions and you get treated like the problem...rather than the solution, of course the crowd is going to have a meh to ok reaction towards things.

The difference between back in the days and now is the fact WWE used to double up on surprises. They tried to make you have a good time instead of treating the audience like the attraction at a slide show.

For instance, Booker T coming out of the crowd putting austin through a table blew my mind because it was random and perfectly executed. Sting coming out tonight was great, but it needed more time and planning.

WWE doesn't have to care about their audience anymore because there is no other alternative.

They go so far as to mute crowd reactions to force a narrative.

:/ A 70 year old flair vs a 50 something year old sting would be a drag.

Now a pushing 50 taker vs a 50 something year old sting would work. Sure it's a little too late but beggers can't be choosers.

The thing about a Sting/Taker match is that it doesn't have to be overly physical, high impact like Taker's last several Wrestlemania matches.

Taker vs. Sting is a match that can carry itself just off of both superstars' legacies. It would be the Hogan/Rock match of this decade.

This is why you support Lucha Underground and NJPW, folks. No, they'll never be able to compete with WWE, not without a primetime TV time slot and the backing of a big corporation, but fuck it, it's better than TNA.

I hope Sting at least wrestles a few matches before Wrestlemania to get into some kind of ring shape.

I remember how bad he looked when he wrestled Hogan at Starrcade after all those months of not wrestling, and he was 17 (!) years younger then.

Flair would find a way to make it entertaining. Probably by bleeding all over the place.

lol I doubt wwe would allow flair to blade like a madman during their current era.

To be fair, WWE been doing that since the beginning of time. Hell they used to mute the crowd and made it seem like Hogan was getting cheers, when in some cases he received boos. Especially during RR 92 when flair won the belt. The crowd lost their shit at Flair winning while cheering when Sid threw Hogan out of the ring. Yet, they edit the hell out of the crowd to make Flair look like the heel and Hogan look like the good guy.

WWE just don't care about the audience and their opinions, unless there's a reason for them to give a damn. Last time they gave a damn was when WCW had them by the balls.

Indeed. I just wish the match would have happen during WM 27. Taker still having some prime left and Sting coming fresh out of TNA would have been a perfect match to cure that horrible ppv.

Unfortunately, Sting rather do last second booking matches with a then drugged out hardy.

So I tried to Youtube that Starrcade match to see what you're talking about...

How many people in this video are dead? Holy fucking shit.

Weird some of you are questioning the pop Sting received... I was there and it was the loudest I've heard that arena for a WWE event for a long time.

I distinctly remember the crowd going nuts when the heel Sid beat the face Michaels for the title.

I tip my hat to you guys who have stuck around watching the modern wwe stuff. I can't do it.

I'll stick around for a bit to see what they do with Sting then I'm out.

I listen to these with headphones so I can always hear the crowds clearly. I think some of you folks just have the wrong sound set-up, and WWE is shit at micing crowds.

Am I the only one that loves the fact that Sting's first moment on WWE TV is beating up a damn Armstrong?

It's like he's back on WCW Saturday Night.

Sting seems pretty excited and pumped up, all the same. Like he's going to put all effort he can into this run. He probably should have debuted at the Rumble though. They rushed it.

Randy Orton appearing in his hometown to RKO HHH would have accomplished the same thing.

TSN Smarks are complaining that Sting wasn't the last image at the end of the ppv. Will anything please these assholes ever?

Even though the surprised was ruined by the person who posted it in Off-Topic I still had goosebumps when Sting came out. It must have been amazing being at the arena when it happened.
