Since I could not find the GC adapter I bought the PDP Controller... is.. good not the best but it works.
also the Yoshi one is the best!

I love smash 4. I don't care about brawl, melee or project m after this, not going back. I learned to love the game. Can't wait for the online tourney update for this game

I'm terrible. Just lost my first 10 or so matches in a row, but luckily I ran into a few people more scrubby than me to get a few in.

what is his recovery off the stage? tempted to just toss him and shoot up and watch him go sinking down lol.
Garbage recovery. He really is only good on the ground, but he is god tier while there.

So, here's a thought experiment...

From the soundtrack, cut down each Stage to having only two of its songs, the ones you consider the most necessary and representative.

I'll have to think this over first...for Duck Hunt I know I'd go with the Duck Hunt Medley, and Swan Lesson. Fucking love that song.

Interesting idea, I'll just do it for a few stages, mostly the new ones.

Mushroom Kingdom U
- NSMBU Overworld (ideally this would have an actual remix)
- Ground Theme/Underground (obligatory 1-1, but it's a good mix)

Mario Galaxy
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Fated Battle
Covers both SMG games with tracks that hit grand space adventure and bombastic boss battle

Mario Circuit
- Mario Kart Stadium (similar to the MK8 circuit theme but more suited to fighting I feel)
- Cloudtop Cruise

Jungle Hijinx
- DKCR Vocal theme
- Gear Getaway

Kongo Jungle 64
- Begrudgingly saying any DK Island Swing mix, preferably the best one (that'd be Swinger Flinger by the way)
- Stickerbush Symphony (fan favourite, retro track for retro stage, fits well, Gangplank Galleon works for an alternative choice)

Skyloft
- Ballad of the Goddess (original)
- Great Sea/Menu Select (to give Toon Link something to fight to seeing as he has no stage for WW)

Pyrosphere
- Nemesis Ridley (Other M)
- Title Metroid

Great Cave Offensive
- Great Cave Offensive medley
- Butter Building V2 (greatly prefer the Brawl version but oh well)

Halberd
- Meta Knight's Revenge
- King Dedede's theme
Covers the other two playable characters with their own themes since the jaunt in GCO don't exactly fit Meta Knight, either choice of Dedede track is fine

Orbital Gate
- Space Battleground (the same track as the stage had in Assault)
- Theme from Area 6/Missile Slipstream

Lylat Cruise
- Star Wolf Assault (RIP Wolf)
- Space Armada or Corneria Brawl

Kalos Pokemon League
- Champion Battle X/Y
- Route 10
Tough choice here, most remixes aren't for X/Y, just went with Route 10 since it's rad and different

Onett
- Onett/Winters
- Either of the Melee themes
Magicant already covers the other two new remixes so might as well throw in the smash staple track in slot 2, I guess Bein' Friends of whatever it's actually called has priority over Pollyana, farewell Love Theme, you will be greatly missed.

Okay you get the idea of what angle I'm going for based on these limitations, I like to use the tracks that better represent the stage itself or the game it comes from while not retreading the same ground like every DK stage does. Though this does mean ignoring some of my preferred remixes for ones I don't like as much.
Also thinking that with music limitations it's nice to have a track that can work for each character on the roster if possible.

I find it hard to make my character change direction when he is in standing position. Maybe my GameCube stick is worn? Basically I flick it but half the time my character runs instead lol.

Interestingly enough, there's enough unused Mother music from Brawl/Melee to remove Magicant's music + one other song and replace them properly. So if they ever did want to bring Magicant to the Wii U they could in theory remove the songs on Onett and give Magicant three songs without Onett actually losing music.

Not sure if they'd actually do that though, as one of those songs is Fourside and they seem to really hate it for some reason.

One thing I really like about the Wii U version compared to the 3DS version are the Tips.

Love, love, love how they aren't all generic game-play tips (but there are some good ones I didn't know myself), but the little history and trivia tidbits. One of my favorite new features.

Have the said why the 3DS earthbound and Fzero stages aren't in the Wii U version?

Those are two of my favorites.

Hey, the 3DS version needs SOMETHING.

Anyone have any tips or insight on how to execute grabs effectively? I keep whiffing, and when I do pull a grab off, I end up stunned it actually worked, and then my enemy breaks away and proceeds to bop me.

The tips are SUPER useful. I didn't even notice that Greninja's shadow sneak had a moving shadow before reading it! I always just activated it instantly!

Don't understand Little Mac being the shittiest jumper when he's probably one of the most legit athletes on the roster...

Because you don't jump in boxing

Gotta say, as someone with an unsteady hand, I really don't like the Stage Builder. :/ Can't seem to make any decent stages with it.

I'm waiting for the patch that let's people share Stage Builder Stages, so I can snag some good designs others have made.

I was playing Smash Run last night... and it's so freaking confusing. Not a fan of it to be honest :( Gotta give it a chance in another time though. Too bad you have to play it to unlock stuff.

So I have all of the Amiibos with the exception of Marth at the moment. I really love these things. Training them to kick my ass. But can anyone tell me the actual point of these things for this game other than a glorified CPU? I play against bots all the time so it's a good thing for me but I was just curious as to what these are really for, if anything? You can't use them in modes other than Smash as far as I can tell but training these things is so cool. I'm really having a blast with them and the game itself. Oh, and the game is gorgeous.

lol

I have a faint hope it will be in DLC, though with Sakurai's commentary....I'm not holding my breath.

That's so disappointing. Billion trophies and songs to unlock, but they can't shit a few more ground styles or elements into the stage builder. Half baked much?

Additionally, there's no way to turn off the tablet while playing either, I'm assuming? Kind of pointless when you're not using it.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Let it be real. I need Parasite Queen x______x

It's real. It's in my guide, to get it you need to play Smash Tour, have a Metroid steal your stats, and then bump into it again to get the stats back.

This is all random so...have fun!

they will unlock shit in other Nintendo games as well. Most notable right now are the Mii costumes for each character for Mario Kart 8.

That I knew but I meant specifically for Smash. Do they have any real purpose other than a glorified CPU? I'm guessing not. But I still think they're great.

My only gripe with this game is the Smash Tour. Maybe I should try playing it with friends but I really just find the entire mode tedious. I preferred Smash Run.

Press X on the gamepad for grid mode. forces straight lines.

Ok I got it (PAL, Micromania in France has everything: GC adapter bundle, and amiibos wave 1).
Got the GC adapter bundle and Link amiibo.
Well, will play a little while now :)

For Smash Tour stuff, it seems like the easiest way to unlock most of it is to have 4 controllers so that you don't have to worry about annoying computer opponents going where you want to go. It might be a bit tedious that way, but it should make things a lot easier overall. I'm probably going to try that out in the coming days, but I've been having too much fun playing event matches and co-op with my wife.

Have the ones with both versions abandoned the 3ds one? It s very hard to back now but I need to clear that 3rd challenge panel

The only home use it'll be getting from here on out will be for an extra controller when I'm short one. Other than that, 3ds version will only get played when I'm outside.

ever since my kirby amiibo got around level 40 I realized I can't beat him 1v1 -- at least, almost never.

am I the only one getting their ass kicked by amiibo?

Yes, but I've found myself not playing the Wii U version nearly as much as I did the 3DS version. I spent about 70 hours on the 3DS version and completed all the challenges. Although the Wii U game is clearly superior, it's challenges are much more difficult and I don't really see myself playing this game enough to ever fill it out. Some of the challenges are just insanity that my 16 year old self probably would've completed but my 28 year old self wants no part of.

Well, the 3DS challenges were mostly "play an ungodly amount of time and do everything as every character", whereas Wii U is more focused, but difficult since you can't do it just through grinding, you gotta be good.

I'd say I probably like the latter better, even if it's above my skill level. But none of the major stuff people care about for multiplayer is locked behind a high skill level, which is smart.

I've been enjoying Stage Builder waaay more since using grid mode, but they really need to add the ability to move platforms and vertices for those of us who aren't perfect.

It's really close to being great, but it lacks some really vital stuff.

it's all about prediction and punishing. Very few smashers are going to let you run up and grab them over and over. You have to get them when they whiff and attack when they and are defenseless, or when they don't expect it. Pivot grabs are pretty effective in my experience.

i got it, it's nice to mull over character data while taking a dump

the free ebook is also nice

are the recovery frames of all Little Mac's ground attacks really as small as they feel in the game?

am I the only one getting their ass kicked by amiibo?

Nope. My Pikachu and Villager amiibo are tough to fight individually.
I get rare wins during a full free-for-all.
