CM Punk tells all about walking out of WWE (podcast)

He refused to cover for a drunk Ric Flair in front of an audience during an event for 2K14. He already wasn't announcing anymore or on TV.

That and his commentary's been mediocre since 2001 when Heyman left the booth. I mean post Heyman, he's been the drizzling shits except for a handful of matches. And before that he was the talent guy who made some fucking awful decisions re: who got hired. So I lack any sympathy for him.

bullshit his commentary stayed aces until AT LEAST 2007

i personally thought he brought a loud crowd, but brought nothing else to the table. The attendance stayed the same when he won the title, and the ratings and buys decreased from the year previous again when he won the title. I don't blame him for that, thats more of a wwe relevance issue because their buys and ratings have been going down for a while. but I never thought he was the savior fans thought he was

wasn't he stuck with his wife and had some terrible match with kane after mania? that is probably the reason why. WWE doesn't think past the present day.

Their logic is probably that Bryan got that anger therapy stuff over, so why wouldn't he be able to get that booking over?

And of course, no one in the WWE bothered to realize that the way Bryan was written during the doctor shelby stuff was completely different than being Cena-lite after Mania

Same thing happened to Sheamus.

His feud with The Big Show was fucking awful story wise, but in-ring they killed it. I get the sense most their talent would work better with a minimalist 'training package' build to matches.

Uh, buys decreased from WM 29 to WM 30 because of the Network launching.

And get her ass kicked to boot.

Which anyone could have told her. When your name is attached to pro wrestling, you're not getting a high profile gig like that.

.....and before anyone brings up Jesse Ventura, that doesn't count as Minnesota is a bunch of weirdos. :p

How bad did Lind lose those elections anyway?

I hope it was by a lot.

And if it was a work this would be the best long term booking ever. I would not expevt such a thing from a company that is about to debut a stable of shuckin and jivin black guys even with recent stories in the US.

Is there any chance this is all a work, given that Punk needed the time to heal anyway?

There is no chance this is a work. He has future projects down the line and even without that made the WWE management look like a bunch of incompetent boobs on such a scale that news outlets are reporting it

55% v 43% both times

Can't get this to download on iTunes.
Earlier it messed up the entire feed for the podcast with a 999 error and right now I'm getting 502 error.

It remains listed in my feed but with an exclamation point next to the episode, but when going to the podcast page on the store, the latest episode showing is 225 instead of 226.

Could it be this was removed or is this just a problem with the feed? :-/

Once you start talking about incompetent doctor's misdiagnosing injuries and concussions WWE would have to be incredibly stupid to bring things like that into a work...which means there's a chance it's a work.

I'm an hour in. Damn, I love these exposés. I haven't watched wrestling since Goldberg was the shit but this is really entertaining stuff. Fuck WWE and Triple H

Why did he always do that? Nearly everyone in the business and fans respected him yet every time he was home they would make a point to do stuff to him that always felt cruel.
Vince hates southerners

I remember Colt sharing some pretty harsh words on his podcast towards Linda McMahon when he received some mail (that he suspected that a random fan signed him up for to troll him) thanking him for his support of her running for senate. Wish I remember which episode it was from, but it kind of went something like "Fuck you and your company for crushing my dream."

I wonder if there could be more fallout down the line from this too. CM Punk's account seems to suggest that WWE lied to investors about his status. Not the kind of thing someone would want to be suggesting if it was all a work.

All of the Doctor/Hayes/Vince stuff reminds me of Hogan tweeting to Edge that he should still wrestle after he retired.

This is how so many of your employees end up crippled, drug addicted or dead.

the network is bombing harder than wii u

if there's one good thing about wwe right now, it's that fans aren't supporting their shitty fucking carny product. they expect their awful 730k subscriber number to hit 2 million at some point, too. so delusional.

The medical stuff is what could really get the WWE in hot water if it blows up. Could be a repeat of the steroid stuff in the early 90s steroid trial.

This is what happens when your business is so insulated and operates like some kind of dysfunctional Jerry Springer family. So many guys that become wrestlers have probably dreamed of doing this since they were 5 years old. A lot of them start doing it when they are teenagers and don't finish school or develop any sort of fallback plan. At some point despite all the injuries and health scares what other choice do they have but to come crawling back to Vince and co? There are few viable alternatives. They probably don't have any other employable skills. The fortunate ones are the ones that were so big that they made a lot of money in a short time span and took care of it. I doubt very many fall in that category.

The fun part is they are currently being sued by several investment agencies for lying in their quarterly conference calls about the pay they were supposed to get from TV deals (which fell way way short, but inflated stock prices by a lot).

Goldberg was the Ryback of his day.

Not that this isn't mostly correct, but this really undercuts what a presence Goldberg was back in the day. The only thing a 13 year old would have liked more than seeing boobs for the first time was watching Goldberg jackhammer the Giant. When it happened, it was fucking outrageous and probably one of the all time mark out moments.
