I'm not American, so I don't celebrate Thanksgiving, but I hope all of you in the US have a good one. And eat lots.

See you tomorrow to discuss a hopefully good episode. :)

Strange there are pricing for 3 sets but there have only been two Korra's so far. I guess they got Season 4 out already since of course that would naturally be the most expensive.

Episode 9 "Beyond the Wilds" will be up in a few hours time.
The spirit vines in Republic City start abducting people and it’s up to Korra to figure out why.

Episode will be up on Amazon and Itunes at 3AM EST.
It's usually up on Nick around 7-8am EST.
'Airbender in the City' Clip

Might as well do this as I won't be able to watch the episode till later tonight.

Why censor Book 2?

Shira doesn't exactly like Book 2 ha.

Speaking of Book 2 it's available through Amazon Prime now.

Theres a book of love?

The segments infused with 3D look off... especially the robot like things. Its like they look too 3D and lack the outlines.

I'd give it a 7/10.

Again, nothing crazy to push the plot forward. Just Korra getting over her demons. Seeing Zaheer levitate while bound by chains was cool. And he had long hair again!

So far this season has been a whole lot of "HOORAY! It's fucking nothing." for me. The episodes have been decent as single entities. But the overall season has been slow. Everything that has happened so far could've been done in like 4-5 episodes.

Well, we're now going blind into the season, so at least there's nothing but surprises from here on out, since
all the scenes from the trailer have now aired.
Overall, I do feel
Korra's entire journey could've been done in at least 2 episodes less (plus the clip show) although we still have to see the final four in order to really judge some stuff as worthless.

I actually think this episode was a pretty big step up from the last couple we got. Although its sad to say, I think the feeling of "okay, next episode is when shit gets real" is finally going to pay off this time.

Zaheer is the coolest. I really really really like Zaheer. I loved him in book 3 and I think he was presented here pretty much perfectly. I particularly enjoyed his conversation about Kuvira. It was cool to see him help Korra, but i guess all those episodes about her recovery in the first half were all for nothing then :/

I've been away from this thread for a while, but do we know if they are gonna do a big multi-episode finale on one day? I think i heard a rumor that the last 4 would be one big chuck, that would mean next week right?

Hurray, the real best villain in Avatar showed up.

Sucks it looks like he won't be breaking out and doing Korra's job for her, but I can still hope.

Hmm impressions sound good.

Paging Tuck.

The glorious mane returns. Zaheer is skilled in the long lost art of "get the fuck over it."

Also, I can't overstate how odd it is that Korra had to be pulled back together by the dude that tried to murder her. Everything about their scene felt off. And Zaheer's pity for Korra is top of the list. I guess it's functional - whatever. Now she has her avatar spirit (read: groove) back.

The Legend of Korra: Book 4, Episode 9

I find very telling that even though that the Nations of the World have just learned the Kuvira is building a very powerful super-weapon that could threaten to world and they still can't justify an invasion because Kuvira hasn't really hasn't caused any international ruckus. More to the point, Korra being dismayed that Prince Wu showing up just underscores how fucking justified Kuvira was in taking power. He is a fopish idiot who is ill respected among the leadership and the populace and putting him on the throne will end the Earth Kingdom. Fucking hell, I could write a very large book about all this and I'll be honest, I need some over the top villainy at this point because I am tired of terms like "The Worst Dictator The Earth Kingdom Has Ever Seen" WHEN YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING TO BACK THAT CLAIM UP, YOU STUPID FUCKING SHOW. RAAAAAGGGGGAAAHHHH!

Right, putting that aside, this was a pretty good episode as it got the plot flowing again and everybody is doing shit once more. I do like the fact that Bolin and Opal have some serious issues to work out, but it is not completely sunk, is actually some good writing there in reflecting the current situation. Though on that note Opal, your family, at least your mother, belongs in jail for her crimes. I will say that the Spirit Vine conundrum is about the first time the claim of Kuvira tearing the world out of balance actually has some merit. I do admit I was not expecting Vaheer to show up in this episode and I would complain about Korra getting healed to fast, but no, I am done with simpering and whining Korra.

I am a saddened to see the Verrick and Bolin dynmic dissolved, but pairing him up with Asami is actually a smart move and I am all for giving the both of them up since I desire to see both get more screen time, if Asami doesn't kill Verrick first. Finally, what does Mako even do anymore? He clearly isn't a romantic interest, they had plenty of opportunity to do ship teasing this episode but nothing, shit even his idea of emotional support was to stand around and literally do nothing. Fucking hell, Korra just left him behind before confronting Vaheer. Seriously, you could replace him with a handsome statue and you would get about as much worth out of things.Yea, so clearly a shit ton of stuff happened and we still have that Toph showdown to look forward to.

I guess this is where the series goes on tilt or not. Kuvira is either a concerned citizen and protectorate of the Earth Empire or total nutball conqueror a la Chin the Great.

Pretty good episode.

Nice to see Zaheer back as expected and he's got that glorious thick hair back again. Zaheer turned out to be very helpful guess he really hates dictators.
RIP Varrick/Bolin team it was fun while it lasted though it should be fun seeing Varrick working with Asami now hopefully. Loved this line from Varrick "I own that building! A man has the right to blow up his own property!"
So Lin, Opal and Bolin are now off on a rescue mission. Straight off the bat it's not looking so good as Opal's Bison doesn't look so good ha.
Jinora sure does get captured a lot.
The firelord talks.

Wonder if Korra has told Lin about Toph yet. She's had plenty of time by now.

At this point I will take the latter, there is nuanced, and there there is this.

Legend of Varric and BolinKorra :'( 9

Honestly this is the best episode of the series by far even if
my power team is over. But korra finally gets here spiritual MOJO back which hopefully means no more recovery episodes
.

I think the highlight of the episode, and one of the season so far, is
Bolin and opals relationship. Who would have guessed their relationship would be one of the most satisfying ones in the show. Nice to see that even though she was mad with Bolin she still loves him deep down and gives him a chance to win her back by helping her and Lin go take back their family.

You know what this means right? This means the sokka character once again
has a prison break episode. Which is especially effective because helping his girlfriend rescue her family is the ultimate redemption in her eyes and husbando approval from the family.

Definitely my OTP. I'm loving how much year of the Bolin this season has been. So even if disappointing in general I'll always have that. I can't wait for more lava, metal and earthbending power hour.

Year of the Bolin.

I dunno, the Bolin and Opal romance just don't resonate with me, mainly because they have had like 5 seconds of screentime together and most of it has been in the negative.
Yea, them actually spending some time doing this prison break is needed in many ways.

The prospect of
Zaheer and Korra
working together is pretty awesome. He's a very memorable and charismatic character, and I'd love him to be in the show more.

I thought this was a really good episode; things seem to be moving along again and I think (?) Korra's PTSD might be finally dealt with, although I hope we see some kind of resolution with the 'Dark Korra' spirit that's been haunting her.

So, four episodes to go. Hopefully the last four will see plenty of action and plot developments.

EDIT - for what it's worth, were I Zukko or Tarrlok, I would have had Zaheer and the other Red Lotus members assassinated after the end of season 3. They're too dangerous to be allowed to live.
