Yeah that's just... I wonder who made that decision and how many more silly design decisions he/she made.
it actually does given the claymore comparison.. that being said, I still wasn't thrilled with the look.. but yeah, it actually makes sense as a claymore.
I don't know why anyone is complaining about the droid. It's in line with the tone for droids that the original movies had as well. C3PO and R2D2 are both goofy as well, not to mention all of the side character droids.

Yeah, that lightsaber was pretty dumb looking. Not gonna bring the movie down or anything, but whoever thought "this will be badass looking" was very wrong.
The rest of the trailer, meh. New lightsaber, the Millennium Falcon, and John Williams music isn't enough to build an entire trailer around for me. Now we wait for summer for a real trailer.

I hope so. I'm hoping the electricy sound and look of the saber is meant to be like that because it's a half cobbled together one or not a "proper" saber made by a Sith without full knowledge. I just hope JJ doesn't go too crazy with that shit like in Star Wars. The Romulan ship was so over the top and stupid.

I don't care that the hilt is impractical. I care that it's tacky as hell. Single-bladed blue, green, and red are where it's at. Truly an elegant weapon for a more civilized age. Nowadays you kids have your double-bladed lightsabers and your purple lightsabers and your stupid-ass hilts, and now this crossbeam shit. It's more reminiscent of a 12 year old's fanfic about a shitty extended universe novel than the timeless designs of the original trilogy.

You know nothing Jon Snows. The hilt is a great idea. Lucas never imagined the need for a crossguard. Way too many times I've seen sabers sliding against each other and thought someone should have lost a hand.

it's actually just one wing now in hyperspace-jump-position;
opening up the front part goes down, the back folds up.

fanfictiony is the black katana lightsaber from the old republic that a mandalorian uses before cyborg legs darth maul took it and started dual wielding with it

B)I'm loving the new look of the Sith lightsaber, good way to catch an oppents light saber while in battle (noob friendly lightsaber for those that don't have the proper wrist skills)

This. Things change, change can be good, and that lightsaber looked badass. I hope he uses the hilt in some nifty ways during a fight scene, it's more than likely. The hilt would block another saber.
