It's a good thing that the most awesome fat dude in Pro Wrestling is set to debut in NXT soon.

Fight Owens Fight!

Kurt Angle was around CM Punk's size (he was about an inch shorter and weighed about the same) before he went and really roided up and nobody thought it wasn't believable that he wouldn't be able to beat Undertaker or Hogan.

Of course there is that famous story where they suggested he be champ in a booking meeting and Triple H said he wasn't big enough to be a believable champ and someone said "Could you beat him in a fight?" and he sat down.
Yeah like an old head said let's put you and Kurt in an unscripted brawl on tv and see who looks good and hunter hearst helmsly stopped objecting quickly. angle was on those super foods though and looked like he could crush a man's skull with his bare hands around 2003. Him being equally as strong as brock on tv was 100% believable even though he's only six feet.

Some wrestlers completely wing it in the ring, some wrestlers plan the whole match out move by move.

According to backstage lore, Randy Savage was the first wrestler to really start planning matches out in meticulous detail. DDP started doing it after his WCW 1997 matches with Savage.

makes me wonder that since savage could still put on pretty good matches in the mid/late 90s, whether hogan was broken or just plain lazy.

he was lazy wasn't he

Punk lacked the three Is.

He was no worthy.

You want Lesnar vs Punk 2?

After Punk's buried Lesnar?

Lesnar would kill Punk. Flat-out.
Their match at Summerslam was fucking amazing. Probably my favourite WWE match of 2013. It's a travesty that we never got a rematch. Lesnar leaving after one match killed that entire story too. Without Lesnar the Punk Heyman feud sucked so hard. I remember at the time thinking ok whatever in a couple months after this Ryback Axel shit is done Lesnar will be back for the rematch. But it never happened. So disappointing.

Also Punk didn't bury Lesnar. He buried creative. He said himself he gets along great with Brock.

Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez did another very long radio show. Meltzer pointed out that the timeline of the Punk/Vince conversation about people dying in UFC and women fighting is strange if it was at the same time as they were discussing Punk walking Sonnen to the cage in UFC. The Sonnen deal would have been in early 2012, and women in UFC weren't a thing until late 2012. Either Vince had extreme insider information into UFC to know that in January, in which case it's strange that he would think people die in UFC, or Punk is framing several separate conversations as one in his story, which doesn't really mean he's lying.

I'm writing second-hand about something I know nothing about myself here, so sorry for obvious errors.

To be honest, when Zuffa bought Strikeforce in early 2011 it didnt take long for the question of women fighting in the UFC to be brought up - Gina Carano was pushed big time at that point.

That Punk promo is very tame.

If you're looking for prime material then search for his rants during his time at IWA. Really nasty stuff. He wound up fans like noone else could.

Punk did seem to bounce around a lot as far as timeline was concerned.

Also, the ads on shorts thing is fucking stupid, they better never let wrestlers do that. I understand why Brock did it, 1) he had ongoing sponsors, and 2) it made him seem more "ousider" like he just walked out of a UFC ring. But no one else should ever do that, ever.

There was a story going around about a year ago that WWE was looking for indie guys who didn't say "fuck" in every promo. Apparently they had had issues with that.

The whole 'hate losing to part-timers' and 'no-one that night could lace my boots' tantrums. I mean pretty disrespectful to The Undertaker, who gave Punk his only show-stealing Wrestlemania match too.

I don't think you listened to what he said? He had issues with the booking more than the guys that came back for the fat pay cheque, he even mentioned that he got on with Brock.

'The look' doesn't mean ripped bodybuilder massive monster, and it never has. Otherwise, Warlord would have been world champion.

The look probably kept Warlord employed for as long as he was, though.

If I was picking an ideal look it'd be someone like Hennig or Bret/Owen. But then, I love watching a dude like Vader too, so who knows. I just like wrestling when it's not shitty.

On PWInsider:
Q: I have seen reports that Triple H “wants to kill” CM Punk for the things he said about him in his shoot interview with Colt Cabana. Can you confirm that?

A: Wants to kill him? No, all I can confirm is that HHH wants to make Punk a eunuch. I didn’t hear about a murder plot.

His issue is that they are desperation moves that more often than not, are NOT best for business. It's not best for business to be paying Brock this crazy amount of $$$ to show up a handful of times and otherwise hold the world title hostage, devaluing it in the process. Punk I think takes issue with these things not only because you are passing over the guys on the roster that are busting their butts every day and every show, but also because the when the product goes down the shitter (like it's doing now) it also costs the talent money.

The problem isn't Lesnar is champion and barely there, because in theory that makes the title mean more because it's not defended every week. No, the problem is they have no through line. I mean they could've had a tournament to set up who faces him at the Rumble... they could've had an MITB winner calling Brock out... they could've had Dean Ambrose pull a Tazz and call himself the 'Frak The World' champion.

The idea is great, the execution sucks.

But ultimately, Punk's point is moot. He says Wrestlemania is the draw, but it's not. It's still reliant on having matches people want to see. And like it or not, people wanted to see Cena vs Rock 1 and 2.
