Steam "Exploration Sale" -- i.e. Autumn Sale -- now live (November 26 - December 2)

For GTA3 and VC, install the SilentPatch (for a bunch of fixes) and GInput (for modern controller support).

For San Andreas, it's a little trickier thanks to the latest update to the steam version. They removed some tracks from the radio station streams and track lookup and updated the exe to never play the missing tracks. Most mods require the 1.0 exe, but using a 1.0 exe with the new streams and lookup causes the game to crash if it tries to play one of the missing songs. There may be a downgrader that adds the missing music and reverts the exe back to 1.0, but I'm not sure of the legality of such a thing. I have the "Hot Coffee" disk version and I was able to restore from it. The San Andreas SilentPatch works with most versions of the exe, including the new Steam version. It's still in beta though, so there's no GTAGarage link yet and there may be bugs. These were the last 2 updates: http://gtaforums.com/topic/669045-iiivcsaasi-silentpatch/page-84#entry1066581222

If you're going to use a 1.0 exe and data, you will probably want to use this GInput, by a different author, for modern controller support.

Yay PC gaming!

Thanks for the details. Real shame about San Andreas. For people who argue on the side of legality or licensing, I still havent heard the reply to the argument that Rockstar shoudl have just paid again for the license of these songs. Whatever they were asking for the license would most likely be pennies compared to what the game has made, and given the fact they just released it on mobile and 360 etc, its a bit disconcerting.

I hope by the time I get around to playing it someone will have a music fix ready...

I guess there should be one more round of deals that pops us in about 30 minutes ... not sure if there will be more after that.

My wallet is ready.

The sale ends coincident with tomorrow's store update, so all of the Dailies run for just 24 hours.

Wow. Planetary Annihilation for $5. I paid $90 during the kickstarter and still have yet to try it.

Also, I'm mad that Skyrim is $5, but Morrowind is $12. I want a Steam version of Morrowind (are there modding quibbles for the Steam version, haha)!

I was actually hoping that Alien Isolation wouldn't get this bigger discount. It's the last game on my wishlist and I already have too many other games to play and not nearly enough time to do it.

Eh, I'm an adult, I can wait until a future sale and probably save even more money.

Alien Isolation is a steal at that price. The game is long and pretty damn awesome

It was cheaper two days ago on GMG.

Its cheaper at getgamesgo, 60% off.

I'm tempted, but the game is falling in price way too fast, no way I'm playing it in the next couple weeks, and I wouldn't be shocked to see it at 75% very soon.

Yup. I bet it will be cheaper in at least one place during the holiday sales.

Yes Tomb Raider finally and its cheaper then I thought

Will wait for Ryse to get cheaper hopefully Winter sale

Yeah, I was hoping for $19.99 or less for Ryse. I've got too much to play right now anyway, so here's looking to the Christmas sale!

The only things I've bought in this sale so far are Assassin's Creed Liberation and Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry since they were dirt cheap.

I hope there is a good indie sale during the holidays. At this point I want far more indie games than big retail ones and none have have gotten the high discounts.

Wow, that Planetary price took me by a nice surprise, guess it's time to buy it.

Planetary Annihilation is CERTAINLY work 6 bucks. I have over 100 hours in it. It has it's problems sure, but it's a lot of fun. Great game for listening to podcasts. Just turn on the galactic war mode and go crazy.

Good to see I'm not the only one bummed by no Trails in the Sky discount. I think I'll get FFIV in the meantime.

Winter sale is fairly soon, there is a good chance Trails will have some discount then.
to be honest I think it's more than worth full price, though
