Where's the in-game option to view people you've played against recently?

Also, if you send a friend a message while they're online, will they see it if they're in a match? Seems hard to invite people into your rooms otherwise, unless you're coordinating over a forum.

Not sure on the first(maybe through miiverse), but for the second, no.

The message system is baffling. They get no notification whatsoever, it's through miiverse, and you can't even open up the OS from the online menu in smash so you would have to back out to even check. It's beyond useless.

Never saw that error, nor I'm aware of it. Any word from Nintendo about it?

I haven't heard of anything else besides this article. Someone mentioned it to me a while ago and that they're talking about it on smashboards. I'll go look it up and see if there's an update about it.

Twice tonight I got an error that my external USB drive had failed. It has its own power and I haven't had any problems with it till playing Smash online tonight.... anyone else see this?

Hope it is just an error and my hard drive isn't crapping out or something.

Time to drop a list on all your candy asses

I'M REALLY FEELING IT

Mario - feels great! quick and powerful, almost feels like a buffed Melee Mario
Luigi - slippery as fuck. I love it. so many combos with this dude.
Bowser - god damn so strong. reminds me of Melee Ganon, cause he's pretty quick too for his size.
Yoshi - I just love doing short hot neutral airs. Yoshi is the most fun he's ever been in this game.
Rosalina - her up air kills at like 30%
Donkey Kong - plays just like Brawl DK, and I really liked how Brawl DK played.
Diddy - hahahahahahaha
Sheik - Sheik is still my boo but I gotta say not being able to kill until 130% and getting killed consistantly at 70-80% is getting pretty fucking old. She is not a top tier character in this game. You NEED kill moves to do work in this game, and she really doesn't have any, especially after the latest patch.
Zero Suit Samus - Still feels great, strong as hell and agile too.
Robin - Extremely strong character. Projectile game is way too good. I'm still learning this character, cause there's a LOT to learn with this one, but I know he/she is going to do work. Top 5 character in the game for sure.
Meta Knight - God damn it he's nerfed to hell but I'm still going to do work with MK. FIGHT MY MK. Also Sakurai is a jerk for even nerfing the fucking sword sounds. He those slashes sounded BAD ASS in Brawl.
Pikachu - Worse than Brawl Pika but still fun to play and pretty strong. I don't like how his Thunder works in this game but I'm sure in time people will discover some cool tricks with it.
Charizard - They really nailed the feel for heavyweight characters in this game. Like Bowser, he hits hard and he's quick. Not quite as hard as Bowser, but he's my favorite Pokemon, so fuck it. I'm having a lot of fun slashing and tail whipping fools.
Lucario - Aura + rage doe. Seriously I enjoyed him in Brawl and he's pretty much just as good, if not better, so I'm enjoying playing him again.
Greninja - Sheik Jr <3
ROB - Feels like Brawl ROB, and I liked Brawl ROB, so we good.
Ness - SO GOOD. Best Ness has ever felt imo. Just fun to control, like Diddy and Yoshi. I've never played Ness very much in any other Smash, so the fact that I'm enjoying playing as him so much is pretty shocking. He's also fucking GOOD. I wouldn't hesitate to call him top 5 at this point.

I'M NOT REALLY FEELING IT

Peach - Plays a bit better than the weird, awkward Brawl Peach, but still too weird and awkward for me to really get into this character. Loved her in Melee, too =/
Bowser Jr. - too weird for me. Just... doesn't feel right. Hard to explain >_<
Wario - I actually kinda enjoyed playing his floaty fat ass in Brawl, but they messed with him and now he's lame.
Game and Watch - REALLY enjoyed playing Brawl GW, and they kinda fucked him up :(
Little Mac - I don't have the patience to just sit on the ground and do jabs, tilts and the odd smash. Can't do it. Recovery is the drizzling shits. Too frustrating lol
Link - still shitty. Like Brawl Link, which was ass. I enjoyed playing him in 64 and Melee.
Zelda - still shitty. Never enjoyed player her, Smash 4 hasn't changed that lol
Ganondorf - ugh, slightly improved oldmanondorf from Brawl. Can't enjoy this fucker.
Toon Link - kinda sorta enjoyed Toon Link in Brawl, and he feels pretty similar here. meh.
Pit - never liked him in brawl, not really feeling him in smash 4. should probably play him a bit more.
Marth - WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU ; ____________ ;
Ike - pretty similar to Brawl Ike. Never really liked playing his heavy ass.
Duck Hunt - GOD YOU'RE SO WEIRD. probably a really good character, but doesn't fit my play style at all.
Kirby - They nerfed him so badly :( I mained Kirby in Smash 64 and secondaried him in Brawl. Sad he's not very good in this game.
King DDD - UGH I hate the changes from Brawl. I really enjoyed DDD in Brawl, even without the chain grabs. He just feels kinda shitty now :(
Fox - UGH BRAWL FOX
Falco - UGH BRAWL FALCO BUT WAY FUCKING WORSE
Jiggs - meh. better than brawl jiggs but still no melee jiggs. and I didn't even really like melee jiggs. boring character.
Captain Falcon - buffed brawl falcon. NOT FUN TO PLAY SORRY. when I wrap my hands around that gamecube controller and choose the character captain falcon there's a play style I expect, AND SMASH 4 FALCON AIN'T THAT
Villager - little weird fuck
Wii Fit Trainer - weird yoga fuck
Dr. Mario - heavy, slow... and I played the hell out of Doc in Melee. But when you lose that l-cancelling and wave dashing, the additional power isn't enough to offset that slowness. Mario is way better in this game :/
Dark Pit - just like pit, not a fan.
Lucina - probably a better character than Marth in this game, but still not fun to play for me. I need tippers, damn it.

I HAVEN'T PLAYED THIS CHARACTER ENOUGH AND THEREFORE RESERVE JUDGEMENT AS TO WHETHER I FEEL IT OR NOT

Pac Man - seems fun! Just need to play him more.
Mega Man - Oh man this character is weird as fuck. But he seems really good. I feel like if I can wrap my head around his weird ass style I can really enjoy playing as him.
Sonic - also seems fun. Super buffed from Brawl, but he's so damn fast. I don't feel like I have full control over this fucker yet. Seems like a really good character, so I look forward to experimenting with him.
Mii - Haven't played this character yet. lol. there's a lot of characters in this game. I'll get to it. Barely seen any video of them played, too. They look cool, kinda.
Olimar - I've played like 5 Brawl matches with Olimar, and 0 with him in Smash 4. So... yeah. I'll get to him. Someday.
Palutena - For whatever reason I haven't really got to Palutena yet. She looks really fun. Looking forward to playing the hell out of her.
Shulk - HE'S SO CONFUSING MAN. I love the character and his game, though, so when I finish exams I'm just going to lab with this cat for like 2 hours and just figure out how exactly this fucker works.

I haven't heard of anything else besides this article. Someone mentioned it to me a while ago and that they're talking about it on smashboards. I'll go look it up and see if there's an update about it.

Last I recall, there was a thread about it... filled with brand new accounts, and no word I've heard from the hyper players who, more than anyone, I'd expect to run into an error like this first.

Picked up an Amiibo...they had Pikachu, Mario, Kirby, Yoshi, Peach, and DK in strong supply, but no Link, who I really wanted, or Fox.

Now...what exactly can I do with the Donkey Kong one I picked up?
- Scan into Smash at the Amiibo page under Games & More
- Pick a nickname (10 characters, including spaces) and color
- Customize their move loadout, and/or feed it equipment
- Start battling with it or against it to level it up
- As it levels up, its attack and defense stats improve
- It also learns from the fighting style of those it fights
- Lv. 50 is the peak but it'll keep adapting its style after lv. 50
- It levels up faster if you bring it over a friend's house or pit it against other amiibo
- Check back at the Amiibo screen and scan them again to receive gifts from them
- After each match, the amiibo will collect custom parts, cash and/or trophies

Ultimately, it's an adaptive AI that's much stronger and smarter than the normal CPU -- the best training tool outside of a human -- and it's one that collects goodies for you with each and every battle. I've gotten so many custom parts by using my amiibo. :-)

Post your lists GAF.

Sure, why not.

I'm really feeling it:
Palutena - Disjointed hitboxes the game. Her smashes are too laggy and none of her throws can kill, but boy can she edge guard.
Robin - Super range game and field control. Very solid.
Ganondorf - Unstoppable machine once he gets going. Can kill people incredibly fast.

...

That's all I've played and clicked with for now. >.>

I feel like I'm at a severe disadvantage playing with the gamepad. I've also had problems with the controls registering my inputs (either through lag or something). I'm also kind of annoyed at how some characters can knock you out at around 50% which I think is ridiculous and there are so many cheesing players. It's so annoying, but when that odd match comes up where everything works is really enjoyable. Still, I definitely feel that playing with the gamepad is a disadvantage.

Edit: And Kirby is definitely nerfed. It sucks because he's my main, though I'm learning metaknight who also got super nerfed.

Looks like Samus is non-existent tier.

How would you guys feel about a spreadsheet listing who on this board is best with each character? One person per character, but a person could be listed under multiple characters. Personally, I want to be aware of who I should talk to if I want a match against character X.

The list would be created as follows: one small tournament for each character. Only the character that tournament is intended for can be used. The winner is crowned the best. Afterward, others can take the crown by challenging the present crown to a FT5. Challenges can only occur once per month per person.

Just a rough idea - would folks be interested in this?

I haven't tried most characters yet, but so far:

I'M REALLY FEELING IT TIER

Yoshi - Always been my main, since 64. Eggs are pretty damn good this time, help a lot to cover your options when you recover. Up Smash is fast and strong as fuck. Aerial movement is quick and strong. Love it. Only downside is that many of his moves aren't very high priority (screw you Rosalina).
Zero Suit Samus - So damn agile. I'm not sure what her best kill moves are, but she's so fast and fun to use. Awesome!
Diddy Kong - Loved him in Brawl and he's even better now. Lovely aerial control.
Captain Falcon - He sucked in Brawl, but I love him here. I suck with him but I have so much fun when playing!

I THINK I CAN FEEL IT TIER

Zelda - After getting my butt kicked by some Zeldas online, I decided to give her a chance. I liked trolling with Din's Fire in Brawl so I had some experience with her. Her playstyle is a bit defensive and mindgame-ish which isn't my preferred way to play, but she's fun. Most of her aerials are very satisfying, if hard to land. Teleport combos are the GOAT. I need more time with her.
Duck Hunt - Tried them very little so far, but I think I feel it. Also a defensive character, but his specials are so cool. He's like this game's Snake for me. Need more playtime though.
Mario - Not enough playtime so far, but he's quick and hits hard. Nice movement too.
Villager - Mostly used him in Single Player, but he seems cool. The long range normals are pretty cool and he has some strong attacks. I need to learn how the balloon move works haha, I keep popping out by accident.

I WANT TO LOVE YOU BUT I CAN'T TIER

Bowser Jr. (Roy) - The clown car thing is so cool and many of his moves are cool but... I suck terribly with him. With practice I may become decent with him, but so far I'm not really feeling it.
Shulk - Used him a few times and didn't understand anything. I would like to learn him though!
Samus - I've never been able to use Samus properly. Too bad.

I don't have an opinion on the rest so far. I've mainly focused on Yoshi to be honest, since I'm not very good at the game! I mainly try the other guys when my online rival is worse than me haha.

Sure, but instead of "best," we should go for all posters that are adept and/or accomplished with that character.

You cut down on possible knowledge by designating just one person as the board's authority spokeperson on a character.

Link- still shitty. Like Brawl Link, which was ass. I enjoyed playing him in 64 and Melee.

you need to play me P:

thou tbh he still has trouble with speedy-always-in-your-face characters, can give a good fight to all the cast thou, not like in brawl... at all

my take on the feeling it list

ZSS - a total beast
babe
, she is a pretty solid character in this game
Link - a lot better than he was on brawl, he just need his 64 boomerang and Melee's UpB semi-spike and he would be perfect
Capt. Falcon - he is back, to show some moves
Shulk - pretty good neutral game, modes characters are always fun to me, plus best taunts in the whole game "I am really feeling it" & "now it's Shulk time"
Marth - thou feels nerfed, I don't think this is the case, people need to stop playing like they used to and relearn some stuff for this character
Falco - welp, he preferes the air P:

Heh, that's interesting. Would be fun to see the results. But if the same person can be listed under multiple characters, I imagine a few people taking all the characters just from their fundamentals. Also worth noting, dittos don't always determine who's the best at a character in general, just at the one specific matchup.

But yeah, aside from nitpicking, I think it would be a fun thing to have going on. I wonder if we have enough players on here to get more than one entrant for every character.

How would you determine if someone is adept or accomplished, objectively?

Mirror matches aren't an indicator of who is the best with that character, though.
Why can't you use Mii's online?? I see no reason not to have them playable.

You can, just not in For Glory.

Captain Falcon - buffed brawl falcon. NOT FUN TO PLAY SORRY. when I wrap my hands around that gamecube controller and choose the character captain falcon there's a play style I expect, AND SMASH 4 FALCON AIN'T THAT

you monster

Nah tho as a Falcon main in nearly every game I can see why you'd think that. I personally feel like he's an amalgom of each of his previous iterations in Smash 4, with serious 64 influence thanks to his upair strings and ability to use Falcon Punch as a recovery tool. That doesn't mean he isn't fun though. ;)

Still haven't tried out everyone yet but here's my quick list so far.

Really feeling it!

Sonic- was my main in brawl and he's better than ever. He's been buffed nicely and has some more killing power. Very happy with him in smash4

Villager- still learning him but I love his moveset. He's just a fantastic troll character.

Duck hunt-Solid character with good spacing tools and a great recovery. Definitely going to continue training with him

Mario- he's still a great all around character with one of the most satisfying meteor smashes of all time.

Zero suit samus-better than brawl in almost every way. She's got speed and a lot of great punishing combos at her disposal.

Pikachu- still a fucking beast.

Yoshi- always loved using Yoshi and its no different this time. He's definitely a little wrecking ball.

Why did you kill yourself, there? :P Also, the lag came out of nowhere :(

I'm actually going to quit it out for a bit to play someone else. It was fun, though! You guys are good.

Cool man, thanks for playing! I SD'd because my friend wanted to rotate 1v1's lol

Let's play again some time. Too bad for lag ;[

The win percentages in spectator betting seem completely fucking useless.

I think I've lost literally every single time I bet on the higher percent.

Just making a list of people who are adept at certain characters would suffice. I don't do tournaments because I'm lame.

Ah, makes sense.

Definitely let me know in the future if you want to get a team match going. I fuckin' love teams. It's rare that I play with FF on, but it definitely makes it a different beast. I can appreciate it for sure.

Snip

Post your lists GAF.

There is no way Dedede is worse in this than he was in Brawl. The way Gordos work, his new d-tilt, his 0 recovery lag off any button? I still can't stand the character, but I'd throw him near the top.

Digging -

Falcon - Overall I'm feeling faster characters with good approach options since the game leans a bit towards the defensive side. I'm not a fan of rolling around, spot dodge down smash, and camping, so I appreciate that things like Falcon Kick have good priority now.

Sonic - Glad he's been buffed enough to be viable so I can chase people down without getting destroyed for pressuring.

Ike - I also think they made Ike faster, which I really like, but since I can't play him like he played in Brawl, I'm going to have to relearn him at some point.

Lucina - I like her a lot. Like Marth but you can just go in without worrying about spacing, which is great because half the cast can space him out.

Megaman- I thought this character was trash until recently. He has amazing projectiles, great aerials, and down tilt. He's also the ultimate teams partner in the right hands since his pellets will interrupt pretty much anything.

Rosalina - Top tier in her own right, but also an amazing teams partner since she can be in two places at once and absorb projectiles with a move and attacks with her Luma. Not sure she has the right play style for me.

Bowser - His overhaul is one of my favorite parts of the game. Still feels weighty and powerful but without the hopelessness attached to earlier games.

Bowser Jr. - A character based on disjointed hitboxes.

Zelda - Only because her recovery kills now, which makes edgeguarding a dangerous proposition for a lot of characters.

Not digging -

Peach - I think I'd like her a lot more if her turnip pluck speed wasn't dismal.

Robin - Top tier for sure but the grab speed kills me.

Ness - Traditionally one of my favorite characters, but the removal of yoyo shenanigans really put me off.

Wario - I've seen that bike enough in teams to make me hate the character.

Diddy Kong - Always found him annoying, that won't change.

Little Mac - I honestly think he deserves a recovery buff. He's sort of terrible right now. I think he'd be better balanced with something that goes the distance of Fox or Falco's Up B.

Wii Fit Trainer- I really want to learn how to use her but my head explodes every time I hit a button and the hitbox comes out in the other direction.

Undecided -

Jigglypuff - I really liked using her in 3DS, but have really come to notice how defensive you have to play.

Pit- Always thought he might be fun to play but never got around to learning him in Brawl. Seems ok here, especially with the armor on his uppercut.

Haven't really tried the rest of the cast out.
