Just played some matches against a really good player in For Glory who went by Alex. Very first match he wrecked my Palutena with his Shulk in under 20 seconds. Ended up doing a few Palutena mirror matches with him and could not win one, always humbling to get beat by your main. Saved the replays, good study material right there.

Classic mode is really rubbing me the wrong way, I dare say it's worse than the 3DS version.
8 player smash is really shoehorned in and is a real pain, especially on higher difficulties when it's obvious the AI prioritises you.
This also means so many of the same old stages, especially ones with annoying walk offs (Mario Galaxy, Onett, Bridge of Eldin)
It's near impossible to use a character a big or slow character, you just get juggled constantly.
Master Fortress is also pretty annoying right at the end, since the final area is just "Spawn a ton of enemies out of nowhere with no regard for smart placement."
At least 9.0 difficulty was doable on the 3DS version, here I'll probably only do it playing as ZSS or some other character which is naturally good.

God I wish I could select opponents based on latency. It seems everyone who plays this game has a garbage connection. A decent matchup is a rare treat, I don't care who is better in such circumstances, I'll play it out no matter whether it's a fair match or not.

For those of you who like me play both versions. Is the Wii U version generally harder than the 3DS version, or am I weird?

You mean the modes? From my experience, Classic and All-star mode in the Wii U version are much harder than the 3DS one at the same level of difficulty setting.

The Fighting Mii Team is creepy, when you think about it.

They steal the faces of your Miis, and their smiling expression never changes.

And apparently, their AI refuses to have them approach you alone, and they hang on the platforms forcing you to approach.

Fucking genius, artificial brilliance at its finest.

Picked this up on Friday. Played for about an hour in the training mode. No idea how I would ever beat the main game, let alone other players.

Also I hate using the huge ass gamepad for this thing.

Yes, I feel the same way. starts with the credits screen after classic. I easily 100% it on 3DS. Not once on Wii U.

Also I haven't beaten All Star on easy on Wii U yet lol! Only tried it two times but it does seem harder.

I gotta go eat some food, those were good games man, gandorf is probably one of my top match ups, hell most heavies. I wanted to ho more rounds at your robin, if you on when I get back you down?

I may go to bed by then, its 3 AM lol. But Robin is my main, Ganon is just Santadorf. :P

GGs btw.

I think it's much harder. CPU at 9 are pretty damn easy on 3DS to me but they feel extremely cheap on Wii U. Counter characters are a nightmare...and the 5-8 fights in classic make it pretty clear that some just go right for you.

Yesterday I played with friends and then this happened.

I'm still laughing

I played it yesterday with friends for the first time. None of them had played SSB since the early 2000s. It was a pain to get them started and some of them didn't really have fun. Picked the hardest characters based on coolness factors and were constantly annoyed that the game didn't do what they thought they input..

After we switched from 6 people smash to 1 on 1 winner stays it got much better though.

For the next session I'll change a few things I guess - we have to play on another TV: The stupid LG we played on had input lag which annoyed the hell out of me - felt laggy all the time.
I'll have to find a good mixture of items. Some don't really make sense for beginners I think. And I'll have to find a good mixture of stages. If you can fall down it has to be one that's not too hectic.

Any other tips for getting people to learn the game? Any good item settings? Stage settings?

Too right. Honestly, I'm finding myself more and more disappointed with the game with just how frustrating the game can be. Brawl is still the best in the series to me.

Did something happen? Sorry if I wasn't that great of a host, I forgot I was downloading something.

edit: I stopped downloading if you want to rejoin

Last two matches for me, Wolf.

EDIT: No, wait, other two...this one doesn't count, since I didn't tick off items :lol

Now this bit of info is interesting.

Pic of the day. Some characters were displayed flat in their original games, so we made some trophies flat as well. For example, flat trophies from Rhythm Heaven and WarioWare…

Strike different poses when viewed from behind!! The designers made these from scratch for this game--thank you, designers. There are other trophies that may strike a completely different pose, and some may not even show their backs at all.

Man, in good hands Villager is flipping deadly. Killager indeed. Dat tree. The top of it always catches me when I tree to jump over it for an aerial.

Though the tactic of exploiting Vision by deliberately getting hit by it works wonders.

Played as the Villager for the first time last night. Got so many kills using the tree. AI and friends never saw it coming.

Got the game yesterday, feel free to add me for some games. Items/no items, fox only, final destination, whatever I'm up for it. I'm in Finland in case there's lag over long distances.

I L O V E getting cheap wins with the Villager online :D He's really an hilarious character. Tree smashed some Little Mac in Sudden Death. lmao

Yup, this is exactly how I feel too.

Good to know it wasn't just me. I haven't even cleared 100 man smash on the Wii U version yet, but I think I cleared it on first try on 3DS.

Oh god level 9 CPU are just annoying, they can counter at the right moment even in a 8 player smash, dumb as hell

and it reminds me something : perfect shield should be gone.
