I wanted to like it, but the trailer did nothing for me. Jai Courtney sucks, Emilia Clarke sounds like she's doing an SNL skit and the visual style is so devoid of any creativity.

Nicolas Winding Refn or Katheryn Bigelow should direct a Terminator movie.
 
I'm actually surprised at the coherence of this trailer, thought it was going to be way more clusterfuck.

I think it looks alright honestly. Emilia Clarke screaming at Kyle to "get in, soldier!" was pretty good. And of course they shoe-horned the two famous lines into the trailer...and in the movie they'll feel just as cheesy as they always have. That's part of the Terminator way.

Honestly, I thought the beginning of the trailer was pretty great. New John looks a little soft, but he seems to have played the character well, and it really reminded me of what I always imagine more Future War stuff would be like.

I'm cautiously optimistic, which is definitely an upgrade from my feelings after the leaked synopsis.

Well considering time travel is part of the Terminator franchise you could just say alternate timeline.

And Jai Courtney ... yeah, go back to TV, at least I liked you when you were on Spartacus.

Maybe it's time to watch TSCC instead.

I just said he doesn't really bother me. I don't think he's terrible, just plain like you said. I don't dislike the fact that he's there. But you kind of lost me at that last part. I like Biehn, but I've never really considered him to be some kind of charming actor.
 
The main problem here is the casting, fucking horrible choices.

Watching Emilia Clarke butcher the iconic "come with me if you want to live" line made me burst out into laughter. She looks like a tiny little teenage girl and not at all badass.

This looks abysmally bad! I cringed way too much throughout the trailer. I was ready to close the trailer as soon as I saw the bus getting flipped.

Yeah that was a pretty good cast, did a double take when he was revealed.

But damn, there's so much wrong with this trailer, makes Jurassic World look pretty damned great tbh.
 
Looks super bad to me and feels like a fan-made trailer or something. The casting seems off and it looks to be lacking ideas of its own, instead resorting to referencing the only 2 good movies in the series.

Not interested in the least.
 
I wanted to give this the benefit of the doubt. But fuck, that trailer is so bad.

And that's not nostalgia speaking. Watched T2 again last night and it still holds up, so damn well. Why the fuck would you take such iconic sci fi action films and just shit all over them? That premise is like something ripped from some crappy fanfic site

"Hey, you know what make the Terminator movies even better? If there was yet another Terminator fighting all the bad terminators and Sarah was always a badass! Who wants that helpless waitress crap? Let's neuter badass Kyle Reese too, by saving him from the bad Terminator instead of him saving Sarah! Cool, right?

You thought that storm drain chase and helicopter/truck chase was cool? Well fuck that! Watch this CGI bus flip off a bridge and let's see Arnold face-plant through the fucking helicopter! Doesn't that sound awesome?"
 
Emilia Clarke's Sarah was the only thing I was really looking forward and she was the only good thing about the trailer. Come at me.

Did they really need to CGI the T1000 jumping through a window though? They can't just break a real fucking window?
 
I actually liked this trailer, oh god.

Still can't stand Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, but shit, I think I'm going to see this :(
 
Everything was CG. Story appears to be a retread of all the Terminators into one. As bad as Terminator 3 was, at the very least it had one good idea in it and that was that Judgment Day couldn't be stopped. Well, here they are trying to stop it again. Everything was CG... and not particularly good CG. Let's hope that "unfinished special effects" line is true in this case cause man those T1000 blade arms did not match up correctly.
 
Looks terrible, worse than Salvation...

And the acting leaves to be desired.

My guess: Flop domestically, but huge success overseas, especially in China.

I wonder what James Cameron is thinking....
 
So much fan pandering in 2 and a half minutes.

It's as if the film makers know this movie only has nostalgia going for it.

Theres not really any lasting consequences from the sequels though. The first 2 movies serve as the base (including for this one that obviously demands the viewer to have seen those prior) and from there the sequels can choose to ignore other sequels beyond that.

This is because of the nature of the story involving MULTIPLE timelines!

Biehn just fit the character really well. Seeing that movie as a kid you looked at him and wanted to be like him. While Courtney is just another dime a dozen jacked dude with no real personality. He's just boring. The only thing I haven't hated him in was Jack Reacher. Biehn isn't a great actor, but in the right role he can really shine and Terminator was one of his best.

Unless it comes to your house and steals your blu-rays, it isn't "deleting" anything. You don't need to believe in your heart of hearts that something is "canon" (or still exists in the canon, I dunno) to enjoy it, right? The entire series is about hopping around in time doing things and trying to stop other things. This one has that too. Not a big deal.

Whether it's good or bad is another discussion, but that will depend on things that are not "did you delete the stories that I like".

Okay that legit caught me off guard at first it starts off like it's gonna be some sort of remake of T1 but then BAM NAH BRUH Sarah saves Kyle from saving Sarah and then the insanity continues hahahaha. Looks like dumb fun. Nothing will ever top T1 and 2. But i'm still down for more wacky time travel hijinks of the Connor family/Arnie vs Skynet assassins. (cool they brought in another T-1000, this time played by Storm Shadow).
