Street Fighter 5 for PS4 & PC teaser trailer

I have a (bad) theory about this.

Initially Ono said that a new Street Fighter would not be ready till 2018.

Now they announced SFV and, by the VERY LITTLE footage shown, it seems some kind of SFIV Plus Plus On Steroids.

My fear is: because of the request for an exclusive Street Fighter, development has been speed-up, and we are getting a title more similar to SFIV than to a "real" new iteration.

Now that I'm actually complaining: i will buy it anyway and play the sheet out of it. :)

Even the sound effects are from SFIV, at least so far in the trailer. Maybe they haven't done anything with them yet, and just used the SFIV sounds, but that combined with the SFIV black ink art style kind of says that this barely happened at all, and it's going to be 4.5 more than an new SF.

I'm right, though. People here killed themselves over Tomb Raider, but this is okay? I don't even...

We don't know the nature of the deal yet. So we could be talking apples and oranges here. This could be a Bayo 2 / FFXIV situation rather than a TR one for all we know.

As an Xbox owner, Street Fighter being a PS4 exclusive is an annoyance to me (my brother has a PS4, but it would be more convenient to just have it on the X1), but I can get over it. Same with Bloodborne. I just find these double standards baffling.

And guys: Sony isn't funding this game. Same way MS isn't funding Tomb Raider. Get real.

Man, why even bother pointing it out. lol, I stopped stressing over it a while ago. The double standard is plain as day (I say this as a PS4-only owner).

I honestly don't have a problem with exclusivity deals -- been that way since I started gaming.

I wish platform holders would just fuck off from paying publishers to not release their games on competitors' platforms. Paying for getting a game made that otherwise wouldn't have existed (like Bayonetta 2) I have nothing against, but this benefits no one outside of forum fanboys.

Who knows, this may be another Bloodborne-like situation.

Well i personally never gave MS shit for Tomb Raider exclusivity so my conscious is clean. It was a smart move by them since they need something to compete with Uncharted 4 that holiday season.

Then again i don't give a shit about Tomb Raider either.

I was hoping they would have taken the SNK route.

I am a SNK fanboy but the KoF 12 and updated 12 art in 13 don't do it for me. I like it but not as much as I want to.

Name a game whose graphical style changed after a beta.

I have made multiple posts, I doubt it's even beta graphics, alpha at best with those animations. And if they are using that animations in the final game, fuck me.

MS started this game buying 3rd parity exclusives and it looks like it just burned them, no way sony would of done this if tomb raider titanfall ect didn't happen first

Like... Sony never bought exclusives for its consoles?

UH, SF V cant even be close to alpha, nor beta. Those are like, months before release. Theyre probably just leaving the protoype stage.

Get your terms right, dudes.

PC + turning off BGM + Street Fighter 3: Third Strike OST = Heaven

This thread keeps delivering. People will convince themselves of anything to justify their leanings.

Its really, REALLY hard to make any accurate calls on what the final game will look like at this point.

For now, it looks like they got their engine on point and have a Ryu model they seem to be happy with. He looks fairly different from his SF IV version.

With Chun-Li, she looks early and Im fairly certain she will get remodeled from scratch at some point in the process. Chun in SF IV was remodeled more than 5 times before they got her to final. As oif right now it looks like they took the base hi-res sculpt from IV and dropped it in the engine in order to have something to show (which is why the camera focuses more on Ryu during the teaser)

In terms of DIRECTION, obviously lighting is going to be a huge focus. The teaser already seems to focus on setting up really interesting visual moods, so you can expect to see some pretty neat atmospheric variants on stages.

The biggest hint in terms of the visual flavor is the logo. In SF IV the logo was kind of brushy and ragged. Represented the brush strokes of the game. This SF V logo however:

Has a distinct graffiti look represented in the style of the font, this should be great news if youre a SF III fan, since that game was after the same thing. Because of that Im expecting really cool, bold, colorful shapes in terms of environment and effect design, which should look really nice on current gen.

Super excited!

I agree with all this! Especially the logo, it just screams SF III to me.

I'm guessing mods are treading lightly since there are controversial times ahead (tomorrow)

HAha you would think by reading some of these posts we were talking about issue of global importance. I find the psyche of gamers fascinating, people really get bent out of shape over this stuff.

Awesome

It looks a lot like an upgraded SF4 visually, but that's generally how sequels work I guess

Just reveal the grappler and I'm good

People who say this sort of thing really have a limited understanding of gaming history. Which amazes me, considering we are on the internet. Google is your friend. MS didn't "start" anything.

Wtf at Ryu looking like a smaller form of The Hulk. Seriously, I was hoping they would abandon those weird roided proportions from SF4, but Ryu looks even bigger instead.

I knew it will be announced this week end (tho, thought on PlayStation experience). Mad hype! Will need to buy a PS4 Arcade stick now tho... as if I ain't have enough sticks lying around already. ._.

I've been saying this a million times in this thread, but let's not immediately start happily jumping on this notion of buying new sticks. That's not what the parties involved need to see. They need to see desire for legacy hardware support and there is a way to do that now. Fans need to be vocal about Capcom supporting the LabZero PS3 stick driver they're releasing to any dev who wants it.

I am guessing timed exclusive because if Sony was dropping cash to grab it from Capcom, they would not want a PC version hogging some of the hype.

The state Capcom is in, they should be trying to release on as many platforms as possible. Game is looking good but I am still hoping they will try that amazing paint style art that they showed off during the SF4 reveal.

How is the the same as bloodborne??? A brand new IP Sony is co-developing and funding versus 2 multiplats, one that was first announced as multiplat.

He doesnt like that bloodborne is ps4 exclusive but I dont read that he thinks its the same as Tomb Raider or this, just that he doesnt like it.

Bloodborne is being funded by Sony.

He is clearly not talking about bloddborne in the last sentence

We are both wrong. Just dug it out. I have Street figher 2 - The World Warrior. This is not the turbo edition [ie it is slower, and you can't play as bison sagat, balrog or vega]

SNES got TWW
1 Year later SNES got Turbo
A few months after SNES got Turbo, Genesis got "Special" Champion Edition, which was basically Turbo

via Wikipedia (which rings true from my memory of things)...
The Sega Mega Drive/Genesis version of Champion Edition, titled Street Fighter II' Plus: Champion Edition in Japan and Street Fighter II': Special Champion Edition in North America and Europe, was released on September 28, 1993 in Japan and on October 1993 in North America and Europe. It was first of two Street Fighter II ports for the Sega Genesis and came in a 24 Megabit cartridge.

SNES Turbo released in July/Aug 1993 iirc

No temporary?
Sorry, but if thats true, then thats a worst act then MS did with TR.
Not event close. With TR, it was originally coming to all platforms. MS bought timed exclusivity for who knows how long to keep it on one platform.

This game was barely announced, and as an exclusive for PC and PS4.

Not comparable.

No your not right as you assume the same people in the tomb raider thread are saying the opposite here, have any proof? That is a gross exageration. GAF is thousands of people.....

Does it matter if it's the same people? We can all pretty safely say that the buzz around SFV is much less toxic than it was for Tomb Raider. You can't deny that. Look at this. Look at FF13, DMC4 and Tekken 6. At this point it's utterly obvious that a large portion of the Sony fanbase consists of over-emotional hypocrites.

And guys, we're talking about STREET FIGHTER FUCKING FIVE here. You can't possibly believe that this game wouldn't have gotten made without Sony's involvement. Again, same thing with Tomb Raider.

This is wrong - I had Street Fighter 2 championship edition on the Snes. In fact, it came bundled with the console

CE was a featured mode on Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting in the US. But the game itself was not exclusively called 'Championship Edition'.

Lol if you think this was started by ms.
If it's not already then - MS' dad is gonna beat up Sony's dad and Wii U's dad gonna cry.

So, Ono stated that Capcom didn't have the resources or budget for SFV. Yet, there's a trailer out for it now. So, if they "didn't have a budget for SFV", I wonder what else they "don't have a budget for".
Let's wait before jumping to conclusions, like you know more interviews and stuff.
