(couldn't resist) , starting the game now

Strange thing happened, after a while I just couldn't win against my Samus amiibo in the Norfair stage. In other stages I can win, but in Norfair she becomes a beast.

Does the LAN adapter make any substantial difference?

I haven't tested extensively, but I do feel like my matches via a wired connection seem more consistent. Mind you, I've had some pretty smooth matches via Wi-Fi, but there's often a hitch or two. But then again, it's hard to confirm whether or not problems or on your end or someone else's, so I don't know. If the cost of a LAN adapter isn't too much and your setup doesn't make running a cord from the router to the system ridiculous, I'd recommend it.

To me, it actually did.

Thanks, I went ahead and purchased one. My games are fine for the most part, but like you said there are hiccups sometimes, so every little bit helps.

I really hate hiccups because it really threw me off with my rhythm and concretion. Lag is one of biggest pet peeve I had with online gaming. I know some people can't help it but I always felt that people who have been playing with lag a lot actually got a lot of benefits from it because they are used to it.

Yeah, lag is actually my secret weapon.

:(

Good Games. You really have nice Little Mac but I just gave up because I got fed up with lags.

Hopefully you would resolve that lags soon so I want to fight you on fair ground! :P

Agreed entirely with this.

Even more annoying: they claim to not experience any lag because they have gotten so used to their connection.

Well, if anyone else wants to play just add Marower and shoot~ (note: I live in EU)
Hopefully my connection isn't an issue as it's been spotless earlier today :(

Edit. No one, huh? :<

Apart from Boxing Ring are there any other stages with alternative looks like Kirby's Dream Land in the 3DS version?

I think I've done that a fair number of times after playing with some people. They'll say that the lag was pretty bad on their end, when it seemed fine on mine. It's most probably an indicator that I've gotten used to the laggy situations, though I have my own threshold and the connection seems to be fine on both ends for most people I've played against. It's why I think there are clear delineations in tolerance between those who most often play offline and those who play online.

Can't CPUs do that?

Technically they can, but you don't actually get anything picked up by the computer, so having CPUs pick up goodies serves no purpose.

Hey good idea! I'm doing it right now with my 3 amiibos, Kongy Donk, Peachipie, and Mare E O. What a great way to get through life and be productive in your Smash output!

Edit: I hear Mew so I just look over and watch him drop a CD only for all the Amiibos to pass it up... Good job Maverick... ;)

Edit again! Happened twice! CD's disappear so quick!

Yeah, sorry - I might have spoken too soon. It's weird. They definitely picked up CDs for me consistently in one 99-Stock match, but since that match they've been walking right past CDs and completely ignoring them, just like you said. I'm starting to wonder if them actually picking them up was a glitch I encountered, because they have been avoiding/ignoring them 100% of the time ever since. Sorry about the misinformation - I don't know why they picked CDs up in that one match!

Do you have to use Amiibos for this method?

No, you can play with CPU characters as long as you grab the CDs yourself when they appear. This does work as long as you don't mind having to play a long, boring match/pay attention for that length of time - I usually get anywhere from 6 to 9 CDs in a single 99-Stock match with Master Balls set to high. You just have to be on your toes every time Mew appears because CDs disappear stupidly fast.

Video Game Awards are tonight. Nintendo will have stuff there.

How cool would it be to have a new character trailer show up? I bet people wouldn't expect that.

Smash Bros. at VGA tonight best case scenario:
New character(s)! New stages! It's all going to be part of a free update!
Smash Bros. at VGA tonight worst case scenario:
"We have an exciting announcement for you today!" Screen goes black. The Smash Bros. trailer intro plays, everyone expects something awesome. But after the fire and heartbeat, we get reused footage.
"Smash Bros. for Wii U is out now! How exciting is that?"

I highly doubt there will be anything that exciting, especially Nintendo-related. Maybe Doritos Pope as a DLC character though.

The online mode is pissing me off. Every second match is a lag fest and then game has the gall to punish you for disconnecting from the laggy piece of shit. Is the lag common for everyone else? Mk8 runs perfectly
Wouldn't say Mario Kart 8 runs perfectly, with how it also suffers from some clear lag if you know what to look for. It's just sneaky at hiding it during all the commotion and it has a regional filter too, which is something Smash desperately needs. Really wish Namco / Nintendo took a look at some of the basic online functionality the past MK's included for a smoother experience.

Starting to really dig pac-man. He has a really fun moveset and I like how he always seems so happy. Still not efficient enough with him though. Also played some more Yoshi today and I honestly don't think he's ever felt this good. A lot of subtle changes but they really put him over the top. Gotta love the Egg Rainbows.
Encountered a Pac-Man in For Glory yesterday who was all-around quite solid; I honestly struggled for a while with how he applied his fire hydrant both offensively and defensively. He even caught me off-guard a few times by using one of those water blasts to cover more ground right as he intended to whip out Pac-Man's forward Smash. He didn't give me much room to establish zone control since I like to play Villager and R.O.B., partially because Pac-Man's side + B is good at negating projectiles, but he did make me think about my approach and eventually we were (relatively speaking) evenly matched. Most fun I had with fighting a stranger yet.
